Adande: Bulls still working for 11th pick

[Note by your friendly BullsBlogger, 06/25/09 3:41 PM CDT: From the FanPosts. Remember, open threads start at 5! -ed.]

We're still trying to get NJ to give us the 11th for 16 and 26 according to J.A. Adande on ESPN... which i am all for.  Hopefully the NJ/ORL possible Carter trade wont effect our deal.  I'm assuming that we will end up at 11... and I'm hoping that somehow harden falls that far.  As unlikely as that is, i just dont trust williams jumper and we need a good shooter next to rose.  We cant just have 3 slashers with rose, williams, and deng.

Harden is totally not falling to number 11. They want T-Will... which is dumb.

I just can't see him getting past 7, 8, 9.

There’s a plausible scenario where he does—that they all have a bout of righteous indignation that he didn’t work out for them and are scared by not seeing him live—but it’s not at all likely. If he does, though, I could see him getting past Milwaukee. They’d be smart to take him, too, though and re-sign Sessions and pawn Redd off for a song.

Although, I could also see the Bulls getting all pooey and taking Williams over Harden because he shunned them, too. Luckily, I doubt they even asked.

People should remember that while they have the right to their opinion, they are not entitled to be taken seriously. --Bruce Bartlett

How can one possibly think Williams is so much better than what's available at 16 and another player at 26?

Obviously, if you don’t value pick 26 AT ALL.

11th pick + vet minimum roster filler minus 16 + 26 = ~$0

Or somewhere around there. Give or take half a mil. Reinsdorf could be worried about that much, but if that’s the case, we’re in deep shit as fans.

“J.A. Adande: The Chicago Bulls are attempting to work a trade with the New Jersey Nets for the No. 11 pick with an eye on Louisville shooting guard Terrence Williams, a league source said. The Bulls currently hold the 16th and 26th picks in the first round.”

If 7:30pm rolls around and all we have to show for today is Terrence Williams, I’d have the feeling that we could’ve gotten a bit more. As much as I wouldn’t mind him at #16.

How is this guy a

worse ball handler? His t/o to assist ratio is sick. Doesnt he have like records for most assists at the school or in the confrence or something? That doesnt sound like a bad ball handler to me, sounds like a play maker.

Sorry not trying to keep this going

but i just agree that he’s a bad ball handler.. You cant rack up as many assists as he had and score all the points he did and win the amount of games he did in 4 years and be a bad ball handler. Something isnt right there.

by Prevenge on Jun 26, 2009 2:03 AM CDT up reply actions

I think he's a decent ballhandler...

His problem is that he can’t shoot. As Bulls4Ever said, you don’t have those kind of assist and assist/turnover ratios without being at least a decent ballhandler. He’s a much better ballhandler than Sefalosha.

However, he’s not the greatest shooter. He improved his 3-pt % this past year, but he’s struggled throughout his career. If we do get him, hopefully the shooting touch improves.

by SouthernCub on Jun 25, 2009 4:50 PM CDT up reply actions

I personally dont trust his 4 year college career. who was the last great player who played all 4 years at college? and hes a horrible ft shooter. If you cant shoot freethrows you have 0 shooting skill.

by sillyrussian on Jun 25, 2009 3:56 PM CDT reply actions

D Rose

wasnt a very good ft shooter either nor could he shoot supposedly when he came into the league? Guess what they were wrong.. T Will shot like 40% 3 pts. didnt he? Close to it..

DRose shot 71% as a frosh. Williams shot sub around 60% from the FT line all four years. He can't shoot straight.

Rose’s FT% was 13% better. Williams shot 38% from 3 one year, the other years he stunk.

by Bulls4Ever on Jun 25, 2009 4:07 PM CDT up reply actions

Over a large amount of tries it indicates a trend. 7/10 vs. 6/10 is a bad comparison bc of the

small sample size thing. Over a larger sample size, the differences show through. That’s what happened with them.

I agree there....

The guy is a decent finisher near the basket, and he was just an okay shooter from 3pt range this year (though certainly nothing to write home about). His strength is as a passer and driver.

If he can learn to shoot, he’d be a good fit. But he’s not really learned to shoot in four years of college, so there’s reason for concern there.

by SouthernCub on Jun 25, 2009 4:53 PM CDT up reply actions

Williams was not a good finisher at the basket.

He was average. The information is all here. He can’t drive either. His strength is as a passer.
