yeah, it's not a great deal, but it's another draft pick . . . maybe they package them and get up to #8

with the Knicks pick and pray for Harden (the tyger plan).

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

by fundamentallysound on Jun 25, 2009 1:45 PM CDT up reply actions

I'd make the deal

If by tomorrow we have Terrence Williams, DeJuan Blair, and someone else at #26, and Luke Ridnour, and we shed Hinrich’s long contract, I’d be pretty happy.

by YaoPau on Jun 25, 2009 1:50 PM CDT up reply actions

I suppose, for 2010 purposes

but heck I’d rather just keep Hinrich than have Ridnour+Williams to do the job that Kirk does himself.

Actually, that's really nice

Going into the 2010 offseason, that’s:

PG Rose – 5.5 mil
SG Williams – 2.5ish
SF Deng – 11.4 mil
PF Tyrus – 6.2 mil
C Noah – 3.1 mil
PF Blair – 1.5ish
26th pick – 1.0ish

Total: 31.2, giving us a ton of cap space and a seemingly competitive team as-is. I don’t have a problem accumulating more high picks as long as we’re using them to draft NBA-ready guys like Blair / Williams / Henderson / Hansbrough. It’s the Mullenses I’d be cautious about if we load up on picks.

great, can I roll over my season tickets deposit to 2010 as well??

You bought into Love It Live?

It’s not like the Bulls won’t be worth seeing next year just because they have no chance at a championship. They won’t be worth seeing because the UC crowd sucks :) Seriously though, we haven’t had a chance at a championship since 1998, and that didn’t stop you from getting season tickets.

That team is still plenty good next year. We’re replacing Gordon and Hinrich with Deng, Ridnour, Williams, Blair, and Rose, Tyrus, Noah should all improve. In my view, that’s an overall improvement while also cutting salary.

I think my preffered course of action

is to get so much talent that vinny’s incompetence is more quickly exposed.

no, I'm assuming we could try and consolidate them into the #8 pick.

that would eliminate most of the picks and get us a little more quality in this crap draft.

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

by fundamentallysound on Jun 25, 2009 1:54 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't know about this.

If the Portland deal is dead than maybe..

by SoulEater7 on Jun 25, 2009 1:50 PM CDT reply actions

this would be weird for me

just because I grew up in Chicago and now live in Milwaukee.

i actually don’t think its a bad deal for the Bucks; I’m not really sold on any of the PGs in this draft definitely being any better than Hinrich (especially not by the 10th pick), they finally get someone who can play defense, they don’t have to worry about resigning Sessions, and maybe Hinrich will get the ball to Bogut more.

that being said, as a Bulls fan, the thought of having BG and Hinrich in our division just doesn’t sit right with me. I get a bad feeling that they would both tear us apart.

by darksmokepuncher on Jun 25, 2009 2:09 PM CDT reply actions

aha!

throw in Bogut and Noah and you’ve the deal I proposed!

by JSlakov on Jun 25, 2009 2:10 PM CDT reply actions

I like Noah better than Bogut.

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

by fundamentallysound on Jun 25, 2009 2:10 PM CDT up reply actions

well

I’ve changed my tune on that, because Bogut’s salary was more than I thought it was. But I’d still rather have Bogut than Noah for this team, all other things being equal.

by JSlakov on Jun 25, 2009 2:12 PM CDT up reply actions

it really depends on who is available at #10.

Could Harden fall to #10? He seems to be dropping in the draft. Right now it looks like

1. Griffin
2. Thabeet
3. Rubio
4. Flynn
5. Curry
6. Evans
7. ??
8. ??
9. ????
10. Bulls pick

You have Harden, Hill, Derozan, Jennings, Holiday and Henderson still on the board. I don’t know if its worth trading up to get any guy not named Harden on that list. Jennings and Holiday aren’t good fits, Derozan is so far away and I think Hill and Henderson are likely to bust. Harden is the guy I would target at the #7 pick.

by Basketball Smurf on Jun 25, 2009 2:15 PM CDT reply actions

I don't think there's

any way Harden falls that far. Has he even worked out with that many teams out of the top 5?

by kingj41 on Jun 25, 2009 2:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Well, that might be part of the reason he drops.

If these other teams have already convinced themselves other guys will be “the answer”, maybe they’ll be angry with being shunned.

by tyger1147 on Jun 25, 2009 2:27 PM CDT up reply actions

I could see all three of Golden State, NYK and Toronto taking Harden. None have permanent SG's.

On the other hand, they may have already convinced themselves to take the guys they’ve done the most work on:

Golden State: Jordan Hill
NYK: Holiday
Toronto: DeRozan

Marc Berman of the NY Post reports:

“Selecting No. 8 in Thursday’s draft, the Knicks have narrowed their point-guard search to three guys. Stephen Curry, Memphis’ Tyreke Evans, and Jrue Holiday, in that order. There is a strong chance Curry and Evans will not be around at 8, and the Knicks have considered moving up.”

by tyger1147 on Jun 25, 2009 2:25 PM CDT up reply actions

that is kind of what I'm thinking

if GSW, NY and Toronto have already made decisions on who they want and they haven’t evaluated Harden, maybe he falls. However, I don’t see anyway he falls past Toronto. He is just too good a fit there with all the things they need. I would gladly do the trade if Harden is there. But otherwise, meh.

by Basketball Smurf on Jun 25, 2009 2:34 PM CDT up reply actions

Now I'd def give up Kirk

if it means landing Harden. Are those other contracts fully guaranteed?

by kingj41 on Jun 25, 2009 2:36 PM CDT up reply actions

yes, but only for next year

the reply below was meant to also reply to you.

Use 10 and 16 to move up to 8? If NYK DOESN'T want Harden, and they don't think Toronto takes Holliday.

Deals end up being:
Kirk + 16

for

Harden, Ridnour, Elson

They don’t need the cap room this year to re-sign Gordon because they’re obviously drafting his replacement. And Ridnour and Elson both come off in 2010, so they wouldn’t be hurting the lock term cap.

A year from now, the Bulls would be:
Rose
Harden
Deng
Thomas
Noah
Danny Green (#26)
Asik

and about $25 million in cap space.

by tyger1147 on Jun 25, 2009 3:05 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that there's absolutely no way that Harden falls to 10

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

by fundamentallysound on Jun 25, 2009 3:17 PM CDT up reply actions

That's why I suggest trading up to 8.

Use Hinrich to get the 10th and filler, use the 10th and 16th to move up to 8th. I don’t see Toronto passing him up either.

People should remember that while they have the right to their opinion, they are not entitled to be taken seriously. --Bruce Bartlett

by tyger1147 on Jun 25, 2009 3:54 PM CDT up reply actions

Moving up to #8 would be great. I don't know how appealing moving down would be

for the Knicks, but if you could sell them on being able to grab someone like Jordan Hill at #10 and then taking Lawson with our number 16 (he’d be a GREAT fit in SSOL), I could see them maybe biting.

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

by fundamentallysound on Jun 25, 2009 4:02 PM CDT up reply actions

In this scenario, I'm assuming the Knicks are sold on Jrue Holiday and they don't think Toronto wants him.

Big assumption, of course. But if that’s the case, why not for them?

Right, there's just a lot of assuming going into it is all.

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

by fundamentallysound on Jun 25, 2009 4:11 PM CDT up reply actions

Not really. I'm just presuming what another GM might be thinking.

Is that what the past couple of days have been all about? Is this really that much more of a reach than a NJN fan presuming the Magic might trade Courtney Lee for Vince Carter two days ago?

And any guess that this speculation or that speculation is NOT going to happen, is always a good guess.

Like 1% of rumored deals ever happen.

Nope. Any way we can salary dump Kirk Hinrich on Minny for #6?

Then we draft Harden, don’t resign BG and possibly make a run at Turkoglu or save the money for next summer. Maybe not my best idea, but not bad…

This is random, but I was reading This ESPN chat and though you'd like this:
Cory (PA): A 2nd round player that has the best chance of a great career?

John Hollinger: “great” career — nobody. “Good” career — Danny Green. I think he’s a late lottery talent and people are missing the boat on him. Also, Turkish center Ogus Savas — his translated numbers from this year are quite good and he’s still young.

If we cant grab a big guy

I Say we Sign Turkoglu, because with orlando gettin Carter, theres no way they can afford turkoglu… and if we dont do anything drastic i say we sign him and somehow get rid of deng…

by Faizamaze on Jun 25, 2009 4:19 PM CDT reply actions

And how exactly are the Bulls going to sign him?
