Can you believe in this? Wtf are the Suns doing?

"According to the same source that disclosed Terry Porter was about to be fired as Suns coach, the Rockets are leaning toward swapping Tracy McGrady's expiring $22M contract, Carl Landry and Aaron Brooks for Leandro Barbosa and Stoudemire, who owns an escape clause after next season and is demanding an extension this summer to waive it"

Vecsey clearly showed he doesn't care enough about the on court product to judge it properly

but that doesn’t mean he still doesn’t have his sources around the NBA.

hah!

Anyone who watched the Bucks play during Porter’s run would know he wouldn’t last in Phoenix. I know a lot of sports writers love him, but reality he was never a very good coach. He may know the game, but it never translated onto the floor despite going to the playoffs the first year. He owes TJ Ford for that.

Yeah you could have

written that Terry Porter would have been fired before he started.

That doesn't really save the Suns much in the way of money

Hell, if Amare’s value has fallen that much, we ought to be able to get him for what? Jerome James and Tyrus?
OK, done!

TMAC

Still will sell tickets….and if healthy can play.

I do think we have more talent to offer, but I certainly don’t think we have the names which equal the draws…

I know I've told you this before

McGrady’s not coming back until halfway through the season at least, and even then, will be recovering from microfracture which means he can’t be counted on for any production next season if he is on the court. He’s not putting any butts in the seats next year and likely won’t be healthy.

This isn't 2002, McGrady is as irrelevant as Allen Iverson

Yeah and how many tickets do you think and how much buzz

early did Iverson generate. Owner’s make money off of that buzz in ticket sales, merchandise, etc.

Just because those in the know who watch and really follow know that TMAC is done, doesn’t mean that the rich, casual fan or ESPN won’t be bringing up the buzz about it….

Sarver seems to care more about that moolah that really rebuilding his team on the fly….if he were more interested in his team he wouldn’t have traded Shaq for complete crap and Amar’e wouldn’t be leaving unless it was in a sign and trade next year…

It did take 3 months or so for that Iverson trade to fizzle

But the Pistons were the talk of ESPN for a while as a sleeper team, and other board sites were on fire with excitement. Even when the orignally faltered a bit, there was still a buzz.

Depends on TMAC’s health, I didn’t know he had microfracture, just knew he had surgery…

I dunno, how much buzz did it generate trading the team's best and most popular player

For a malcontent who is past his prime? The team was horrible by their standards, and the pundits still treat Iverson as if he was in his prime.

Dude

I don’t know if you were watching ESPN or those Pistons blogs or the national blog sites, but A.I. was the talk of the league for a bit and even into March folks were scared of the A.I. Pistons until the feud became public.

Billups was their best player, but I think he’s never been an insanely popular superstar….he should be perhaps, but he’s never quite had that, OMG it’s the Answer buzz….

They were the 8th seed in the playoffs, they were never any good

And winning games sells tickets more than the excitement of seeing a 33 year old Allen Iverson.

They

Didn’t end up very good, but they were #2 in the league, then dropped to #5 or 6 and once A.I sat they almost fell out of the playoffs.

They had some injuries, they were done, but they did sell a LOT of tickets and jersey’s especially in the immediate 1-2 month aftermath of that trade.

For a team

Like the Suns seemingly wanting to focus ont he now and worry about the later later (very business like, likely maybe because other investors are struggling in the horrible Phx economy and they want to promise some sort of total rev numbers) this is a short term move. I am not saying it’s a good move and I think that a Thomas-Deng move will draw more fans down the road than a gimpy TMAC move, but I watch the league as do you. A lot of those investors and casual fans watch their monies and the buzz…

That’s all I’m trying to say, and probably still not saying it clearly enoguh.

Sarver would be run out of town on a rail if they made that trade

If they’re going to give Stoudemire away, they might as well just keep him and let him leave after the 2010 season.

Why? Landry and Brooks are both solid players and certainly better than nothing at all

by snley on Jun 25, 2009 9:45 AM CDT up reply actions

Even more than that,

Landry and Brooks are like hidden treasures in this league, considering how young they are, how (relatively) low their salaries are, and how much effort they bring night in and night out.

Yeah

I saw that one….man that would suck, and I could actually see the Suns doing it since they just traded expiring Shaq for total and complete expiring crap.

TMAC if healthy can at least play at t Jason Richardson level….if he gets all his game back can have an occasional Kobe-fied game here or there…..that’s a plus and his expring’s another…Aaron Brooks could become the Steve Nash heir apparent. Landry can fill in the voit a bit as they rebuild……

But yeah the Rockets would ahve to be the clear cut favorites out West, with or without Yao coming back to full strength.

Man this would suck and I don’t know how we could compete with that offer…

I know he's been injured

I thought he had a scope done that cost him last year cuz he did it late. I didn’t know it was microfracture, and don’t recall you telling me that before (you may have, I didn’t recall).

I claim ignorance.

Aaron Brooks

might be better than what we can offer. Especially if they’re looking at moving Nash, this isn’t nearly as crazy as we’re making it out to be.

The poster formerly known as Freethefro.

by MPG on Jun 25, 2009 11:11 AM CDT reply actions

Aaron Brooks is a bum

The guy shot 40.4% from the field this year, he’s 40.6% career, he doesn’t pass, he doesn’t rebound, and at his size he’s not making an impact defensively. Two year APM is -4.79.

I saw what he did against the Lakers, that was one really impressive game. His series stats: 18ppg, 2.6apg, 2.4rpg in 34.2 minutes, are just okay. He’s an NBA backup. And Jonny Flynn owes him about $10 million dollars :)

by YaoPau on Jun 25, 2009 11:19 AM CDT up reply actions

Two year APM is probably one of the reasons Morey is looking to move him, after Brooks

wowed fans and (dumb) GMs in the Lakers series. He’s got inflated value and this would be a coup for Morey. Plus, Steve Kerr looks more and more incompetent all the time. I wouldn’t be surprised if he does this.

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

by fundamentallysound on Jun 25, 2009 11:21 AM CDT up reply actions

And then of course you go to Morey's Twitter account

And his latest post is…….

This is the deepest PG draft in a long time. Quality and quantity are high. Rule changes have indirectly driven the depth we are now seeing.

Haha.

Yeah, Johnny does. I’m stunned by those stats. I watched the Lakers series and assumed that was how he produced.

This makes me feel better. I’d like Bosh before Amare, but I’d like Amare over any of these guys.

The poster formerly known as Freethefro.

by MPG on Jun 25, 2009 11:59 AM CDT up reply actions

I don't know if anyone thinks it's really crazy to move

35 yr old Nash now before his stock precipitously falls (which it will if this Amar’e trade happens cuz while he can pass, he can’t pass to nobody all the time and succeed and while he can shoot really well, he can’t always get shots off being undersized as he is with everybody focused 100% on him as their guy while he also has back issues and age to compete with). But why trade Stoudemire especailly on the low end for the trade they’re talking about right now?

I mean Chandler and West for Amare and Barbosa doesn’t seem a bad trade (they can add some filler crap where needed, but that’s the core)….

Barbosa-Paul-Posey-STAT and C by committee should be good.

Suns have West in Amar’s place and a possible health risk, but when healthy is one of the best defenders in the game in Chandler, who fits what Kerr’s been talking about. And the Hornets have shopped West a bit and Chandler hard……Man a CP3-Barbosa-STAT trio would be very scary and a CP3-STAT young duo would be even more scary….

Oddly enough hairline fractures can be more difficult

to heal than clean, radiologically-distinct ones. In some cases the body doesn’t even read the insult, and nothing heals.
