Draft Poll for pick #16

So who do the Bulls actually draft with the #16 pick?  For purposes of this poll, I mean who do we pick first. If you think we trade up or trade down with the purpose of targeting one of these guys, that's ok too.

My take: when push comes to shove, I think the Bulls take Gerald Henderson, because despite the manner in which we've discussed it here, the Bulls are planning for Gordon to play somewhere else. With Henderson's selection, that will become even more of a fait accompli. I've seen various rumors that he's their target (Givony at DX) and they are, in fact, willing to move up to get him (Ford).

Suffice to say I wouldn't move up to get him, but I do believe the Bulls will draft him based on the fact it will seal a non-deal with Gordon, and the fact that he seems to be exactly the sort of prospect they typically take. Solid but not great athleticism, good knowledge of the game, not a great shooter, from a big college program.  He's the quintessential safe pick in a draft full of questions.

If Henderson drops to 16 it will be a good day.

Of course I’m still holding out the hope that we turn these draft picks into a package that lands us an established star, but since we’re dealing with the Bulls, I’m not getting my hopes up too high.

thoughts

I voted Blair and would be very happy with that. He’s my horse.

I’d be indifferent about drafting Johnson (don’t know enough about him), Ty Lawson (think he’s good but not sure how he fits with the team), and BJ Mullens (everyone deep down gets a little excited about a 7 footer with that upside)

I’d be upset about Henderson (doesn’t fit, will never be great), Hansbrough (his upside to me is 4th big man) and Sam Young (that would be a stupid reach for a guy who’s older than Darko Milicic)

I’m fairly sure Harden and Williams won’t be there. If we traded up for either I’d be ok with it but I’d rather go for Blair, trading up or otherwise.

I'm holding out hope for Harden. hahaha

okay, maybe not.

I just cannot get excited about any specifics of this draft. The fact that there are so many options is really cool, but if they get stuck here, it’s going to be more about the least displeased than the most excited.

Who the hell are all these people that think we're gonna trade up and get him?

I mean, I put him on the poll, but that was a wish, not reality!

by Sports2 on Jun 25, 2009 8:29 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I voted for him.

Not that I think they’ll get him, but… just cuz? I’d say the probabilities of drafting any single player are less than 15% so maybe the Bulls go nuts and give away Deng for that pick. Who knows?

I’d agree that the only player the Bulls should trade up to get is Harden.
If they trade the picks in a 2 for 1 to get Johnson, Henderson or Blair, I won’t complain.
If they take any of those guys plus Hansbrough or Williams (and, as you suggested, even Lawson) at 16, I won’t complain.
Anyone else, and I’ll have various degrees bumitude. At least I’m keeping my options open. lol

Jesus, how the hell are the Wolves going to get through this?

They have 37 friggin’ draft picks. I predicted this 2011-2012 lineup:

Lawson/Llull
Harden/Llull/Green
Budinger/Green
Love/Hansbrough
Jefferson/Pendergraph

That might be the worst defensive team ever, but it might also be an incredible offensive team.

I hope we pick Hansbrough

Gordon probably won’t resign with us, but Salmons will be our starting SG. Not anyone we might get in this draft. So, I hope we pick the best big guy available by #16 – I would love Blair, but his height concerns me and I still have doubts about his knees – and then try to get a SG backup… So, I think Hansbrough will be a fine player for the Bulls

What do you make of

the Bulls bringing just Blair, Mullens, Clark, Johnson in for a second visit? It’s possible they’re looking for a backup plan to Henderson, but then why wouldn’t they bring in Hansbrough as well? I’d say either Hansbrough or Henderson is not on their list, unless this is one huge (read: pointless) deception scheme.

By the way... DraftExpress now has

Blair, Mullens, Henderson, and Hansbrough all falling to us… whoa

I voted for Hansbrough as I think we'll stay at 16

and if Hansbrough drops. If he’s gone, I take Blair.

I'd be stunned if we could go high enough for Harden,

but if we got him I’d be ecstatic. Of those possibilities at 16, though, Blair’s been looking amazing in his workout videos. The form on his jumper is way better already.

Please some wing players

wing players make the league go round. Big guys get injured and have bad feet, also the way call, rules, and just overall league wide hype goes…. a good wing player will do more for a team than the other way around. To me, bigs are the WR of the NBA, yes its good to have them, and the better you have the more better your QB, the wings and guards, will look, but just not necessary. Give me some good wings and role players willing to get dirty, BAM you get a ring.

Mullens

For #16 If hes up there hes a gamble but the risk to pay-off is too great. Id say at the worst with no injurys hed be a 8-9 man playing 15 minutes with an average of 6ppg 4rpg and a half a block. Blairs ceiling is playing 24 minutes 10ppg 6rpg and a half a block.
