GS would get Acie Law and Speedy Claxton in return. I guess the Hawks need more 20-foot contested jumpers with 18 seconds left on the shot clock.

they only had to give up acie law and speedy claxton

it’s a dumb trade, but i don’t think they’re getting worse for it.

maybe I'm getting ahead of myself....

Does this mean that Bibby wont be around?
If they are replacing him with Crawford, they are getting worse.

that is true... there is the bibby factor

they will probably suck forever…

But is anyone else besides Nelson gonna play him at point

Hes a guy who should come off the bench to me and has been for a while.

by Camry on Jun 24, 2009 4:23 PM CDT up reply actions

i don't know

i think Crawford is a net negative on a team. Especially on a team without great leadership.

by Basketball Smurf on Jun 24, 2009 3:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Crawford's like Ben Gordon

if BG couldn’t shoot as well as he does, could drive a little, and hogged the ball about 5 times more than he does now.

-I was wrong about Pau Gasol. I have been shamed. :(

NO!!!!

We should do my Josh Smith trade this second…..

This is a dumb trade for the Hawks….not surprising, but I know they were shopping Smith a bit too.

I think it was Deng and something for Smith and Claxton..

NO!!!

Why again like every year is it trade rumours and trades of some rather big time players while the what should be biggest trade partner team in this league with all these should be good to very good #2/#3 options not doing ANYTHING yet.

Come on Bulls make a trade. I know we lucked out with the big Salmons deal (because he fit in so well) but come on, we still have more we need to do….

And a Hinrich for Outlaw/Blake trade is just so typical of this org (most boring trade ever for our end, and a really good trade for their end)…

THE BULLS ARE GOING TO WIN IN 2010....maybe by stating this the positive vibes can make it happen.

They have to trade Josh Smith now

If they don’t, Smith and Crawford are going to strangle one another fighting for shots.

Yeah

But I was thinking in my scenario that Claxton’s expiring was nice. I think now it was Deng + James + #16 (they benefit from the dollars) for Smith plus Claxton…

Claxton costs more, but he can fill in the Hinrich role. We ship out Kirk in another transaction….

Oh well.

I think the Hawks might want to trade Joe Johnson as I doubt Crawford will move yet again this year and think Johnson will be very upset with Crawford stealing his touches…

I just don’t get this trade.

If they had a premier PG sure, but Bibby ain’t that these days and they still have to worry about signing him as is.

by majoyenrac on Jun 24, 2009 4:13 PM CDT up reply actions

Claxton

Of course can’t really fit the HInrich role from last year, but should be able to fit at least limited minutes as a 5-10 MPG backup 1 year loner…..

We don’t need Hinrich much each year progresses.

Smith’s the target of my post, not anything else.

huh?

Again, this isn’t the Bulls. There can be more than one good player on a team.

(not that Crawford is)

You can't have two players who launch terrible shots whenever the urge strikes them

Especially when neither of them are particularly good shooters.

You can always trade the asset later if it doesn't work out though

Josh Smith will always have some takers….no need to rush it. THough if they want to rush it, I hope Gar’s a watching.

Josh Smith is not an improvement over what we have now.

Frankly, I would prefer to keep Tyrus at the 4 rather than paying that salary for Smith, moving Luol, playing Salmons at three, forcing Hinrich to be the starting 2…what I really don’t like is forcing Thomas to the bench in what should be his breakout (err..contract) year.

Josh Smith is a far

Brighter prospect and athlete than Luol Deng for less $$.

He also has a higher value even with the questionable perhaps non coachable tag. It’s not like Mike Woodson has a Popovich kind of rap, or that the Hawks are concerned a well oiled machine in mgmt……Josh Smith is a freakish athlete more put together than Tyrus.

That move allows us to part with one uber athlete if we need to and still keep the other to work with Rose….

I don’t know if we’d have to buy and hold Smith, but in terms of further trades having him certainly doesn’t have the 2 yrs of injury and higher priced Deng risk. Plus unlike Luol, Josh Smith is actually a freakish athlete, not an avg athlete who somehow was build to have more athleticism than he’s ever had…..Deng’s good because he’s a smart player…..

I guess we are looking for different things in basketball players...

Especially ones that are no longer on rookie deals. I no longer consider Smith nor Deng to be a prospect, they are NBA players…and to that, Luol Deng is a better NBA player than Smith. While I appreciate Smith’s freakish athleticism, I do not appreciate his idiotic basketball IQ, poor shot selection, $6 Million trade kicker or his poor team defense…

Management by committee

They’re making the playoffs though. Woodson has to wonder if they’re intentionally creating headaches for him.

Joe Johnson at PG?

Whatever, Jamal Crawford taking contested jumpers is still better than Josh Smith taking contested jumpers.

That Steve Nash is exactly the same as Kirk Hinrich, but worse.

Didn't Crawford always insist he was a PG, even after the Bulls used successive lottery picks on PGs to play next to him

I really think if Jamal starts

they won’t make the playoffs. Theres something about that guy a mix of the team imploding of course but still we talk about intangibles for winning definitively the opposite here.

by Camry on Jun 24, 2009 5:55 PM CDT reply actions

Especially considering

He is the active player with the most games played without a playoff appearance.

What, Larry Hughes wasn't available?
