Now that T-Wolves have fifth pick, they may have less need for Hinrich, or they might be looking to make a big move since they have multiple picks.

wow

good trade for minny. Now we will see who they pick

by Basketball Smurf on Jun 23, 2009 6:32 PM CDT reply actions

agreed

i feel like the wizards pick was our best chance to get rid of hinrich for a high pick. Makes sense now they can take a true point and a big athletic guard which there seem to be a few of in the top 10. Who are they rumored to be interested in now?

by BooRad16 on Jun 23, 2009 6:35 PM CDT up reply actions

they have 4 picks

5, 6, 18, 28. I think they might trade up to get Rubio, which would be a good move.

by Basketball Smurf on Jun 23, 2009 6:42 PM CDT up reply actions

Tell the new GM

He doesn’t have to make up for years without a first round pick by having 4 in a crappy draft. Rubio doesn’t seem like a can’t miss pick to me. Im sorry, but I think Washington has the upper hand.

by Jesse07 on Jun 23, 2009 7:37 PM CDT up reply actions

i have a pretty low opinion of randy foye

if Harden, Rubio or Curry are on the board, I think they are all better than Foye for Minnesota.

by Basketball Smurf on Jun 23, 2009 7:52 PM CDT up reply actions

There seems to be a big drop off at the top of this draft

If Griffin, Harden, and Rubio are off the board, I wouldn’t feel really great holding the 5th or 6th pick.

by Sports2 on Jun 23, 2009 7:08 PM CDT reply actions

Curry and Evans would be hilarious!!!

But trying to trade up w/ the 5th and 18th to 2nd? Would the Grizzlies do that?

Minnesota's Bigs & the Spanish PG

If Rubio is the target, Minnesota is going to have an odd mix of slow big guys and a point gaurd that wants to run and play in transition. Jefferson, Love, Etan Thomas, & Darius Songalia.

Enter Trade Tyrus for Love!

by Jesse07 on Jun 23, 2009 7:35 PM CDT reply actions

For those times when Tyrus decides he'll run the floor and isn't trailing Songalia.

They need a wing now

Sure Harden isn’t the target? They may just keep their picks and hope Harden falls…

Wizards are going to be real good.

I see miller as the glue and Foye will be great when Arenas misses games with injury. Under Saunders, this team is gonna roll.

by The90sBullsRevival on Jun 23, 2009 7:41 PM CDT reply actions

If healthy, it does look like a pretty stacked team

1- Arenas, Foye
2- Miller, Young, Stevenson
3- Butler
4- Jamison, Blatch
5- Haywood, Jordan

Interesting… but a big If

by Sports2 on Jun 23, 2009 7:47 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't know...

They either need to run like the Suns used to (without a single real PG on the roster) or convince some of these guys to play D. I doubt either will happen.

by potato0328 on Jun 23, 2009 7:52 PM CDT up reply actions

Last time Arenas was healthy

they ran at a pretty fast pace and had a pretty high offensive efficiency. I could see it happening again.

by arjoseph on Jun 24, 2009 9:07 AM CDT up reply actions

That was under Eddie Jordan so it could be different as well

If they keep this team as is, they’ll need to run just to get everyone enough shots

Let's take a look at Minny.

1- Telfair
2- Brewer
3- Gomes, Brewer
4- Love, Madsen, Thomas, Songaila, Smith, Cardinal
5- Jefferson, Pecherov

WTF

It would be the worst back court in the NBA for the next 3-4 years.

They might both eventually be good, but I think they each have a lot of work to do to be even average guards.

I think Curry’s efficiency is going to take a huge hit (obviously I might be wrong) until he figures out all of the nuances and tricks to the pro game. I see his ceiling as a lesser-ballhandling, lesser-passing Steve Nash, but not for awhile. He does a great job getting his shot off in college, and I think he will eventually in the NBA. I just think it’s one of those “learned” aspects.

And Evans, I just have no clue. He’s almost like the opposite of Curry. Great size, great athleticism. Can’t shoot. Can’t dribble.

I think they both have good potential. But I think both of their floors are pretty low, too. And I think it will take a lot of time for both to come up. I could be wrong, though. Certainly.

by tyger1147 on Jun 23, 2009 10:34 PM CDT up reply actions

Evans can dribble just fine, but he's not really anything special athletically

But yeah, that would be a hilarious backcourt.

i was thinking the same thing

maybe they go ahead and give us #6 for Kirk and Cardinal, take who they want at #5 (I’ve been reading they like Evans) and then they won’t have a double rookie backcourt. Kirk and Evans would be real good defensively and they both can play on or off the ball. Don’t know…maybe we’re so in love with Henderson (as a salmons replacement for next year or this trade deadline) that we do this? And maybe then trade #16 + #26 to the nets for #11 and take Blair? I think that’d be pretty good. That’s turning Kirk and the picks into future cap space, Henderson and Blair.

The only way I would support aquiring more draft picks

is if we plan on packaging them in a trade for an established player. The last thing we need to do is get younger. Minny obviously needs guards now and have had their eyes on Hinie for a while (the combo of Minny and Hinie was too tempting to resist — sorry); what if they give us #6, Thomas and Smith for Hinrich and maybe #26 (not sure that’s necessary).

We could then package that pick with our 16 and a Deng/Tyrus/Jerome James combo in a deal with Phoenix for Stoudamire and Barbosa. This gives Phoenix another lottery pick and one just outside the lotto (cheap players, they’re going into rebuilding mode if they’re trading Stat anyways) and a couple young building blocks. Add to that the insurance-covered expiring contract of Jerome James and now Sarver’s on board.

The benefit for the Bulls is obvious — young all-star in the post and a speedy guard to run with D-Rose and shoot the three. The only thing is we either need to go into the luxury tax to resign BG or keep one of our picks to draft a SG.

Line-up:

PG: Rose, Roberson/Nelson
SG: Gordon(?), Barbosa, #26(?)
SF: Salmons, TiT
PF: Stoudamire, TiT
C: Noah, Miller

I think that team wins 50-55 games and scores about 125 ppg. It will be exciting as hell for this year and with Miller and possibly Salmons (and Tim Thomas?) coming off the books after the season we have tons of flexibility for 2010.

by Rose Colored Goggles on Jun 23, 2009 11:18 PM CDT reply actions

We're not getting

Stoudemire AND Barbosa for what you have there though. Both of those 2 can really play, hell Barbosa’s value probably isn’t all that far off (it’s lower, but not that materially at least hopefully until midseason when Deng recovers and remembers how to play his game consistently) of 2 year injured Deng…..

I mean maybe for SHAQ we could get Barbosa as a throw in…but we’d have to add more for the trade you presented….

THE BULLS ARE GOING TO WIN IN 2010....maybe by stating this the positive vibes can make it happen.

by majoyenrac on Jun 24, 2009 8:02 AM CDT up reply actions

But think about it

They’re going to lose Stoudamire next summer anyways and they just got rejected when they tried to get Caron Butler for him. They might have to sweetent the deal if they want to get any value for him. You say a 2 year injured Deng doesn’t have a lot of value (although last time I checked he was only injured for the last half of last season) but Stoudamire is a PF with two MAJOR leg injuries (microfracture and ACL) and serious eye issues — I think the injury argument balances out.

I think Deng and Tyrus are both very serviceable players that still have at least some all-star potential left in them. You don’t think Phoenix would want:

Luol Deng
Tyrus Thomas
Jerome James

  1. pick (remember this trade was predicated on the Hinrich to Minny trade)
  2. pick

For Stoudamire and Barbosa? That’s FOUR potentially very effective players for two — I think that might be the best that Phoenix could hope for.

by Rose Colored Goggles on Jun 24, 2009 9:58 AM CDT up reply actions

Wow

I have no idea why it did that but it was supposed to be:

Luol Deng
Tyrus Thomas
Jerome James
6th pick
16th pick

Very strange how it changed to “1. pick” and “2. pick”…. never seen that before…

by Rose Colored Goggles on Jun 24, 2009 9:59 AM CDT up reply actions

If you look at what was discussed during the trade deadline

it was a trade surrounding Tryus. I think it starts there again. The deal seemed close to a done deal until the Suns decided to make one more run.

"I guess I can’t do anything if you’re just irrational, but to point it out and move on."

- fundamentallysound

by J Theory on Jun 24, 2009 10:06 AM CDT up reply actions

Do we know though

What that trade was supposed to be? I heard rumors of Butler and Jamison and #5 for Stoudemire….

That’s a lot higher of an asking price…

I agree on the monies, etc and really do think in terms of real talent it’s a bit more fair (esp in terms of cap savings, etc), but I don’t know if the Phx faithful will agree. Stoudemire is a real superstar….it’s hard to part with that when not getting a superstar in return.

If this was perceived as a higher draft, that looks great (should we find a way to get that 6th pick whcih isn’t yet in the works)….but yeah it’s hard.

I do think very highly of Tyrus still….any manyof us Bulls fans do, but few would equate a #6-Deng-Tyrus nationally as fair for Stoudemire…..and adding Barbosa to that further distances it….

Sounds great though in paper and I’d be screaming tears of joy if it happened.

THE BULLS ARE GOING TO WIN IN 2010....maybe by stating this the positive vibes can make it happen.

OT cuz i didnt want to make a fanshot for a quick question

What do you guys think of Sam Young, i was taking a look at his draft profile on draftexpress ( http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Sam-Young-1012/ ) and he seems like a nice draft pick. He can post up which is a good thing for a guard and is a decent shooter according to the profile. Defensively he seems to be a strong perimeter defender and it sounds like that is his forte.

Playing with rose he could be a nice player who could play some sg (cuz his quickness measures similarly to henderson, actually, young seems faster…) and play sf. He could be a good replacement for salmons me thinks… He could be available at the 16th too….

Again i dont watch college basketball really, so i know little to nothing about him so i was wondering if someone had some more info or thoughts about this….

thanx for your help though
