Random Trade Idea (Bogut)
Was having trouble sleeping last night and came up with this in my head:
Chicago trades:
Cap Filler (Roberson, Nelson, Johnson)
Milwaukee trades:
2009 First Round Pick (#10)
Why the Bucks Do It:
Skiles gets reunited with his erstwhile protege, someone who can step and start for the Bucks right away without having to be taught how to run Skiles offense and play D, like the rookie point guards they have been eying.
Noah is the defensive minded center that Skiles would love and who would fit nicely alongside Villanueva if they decide to resign him.
Why the Bulls Do It:
We would lose Noah, a great young defensive center, but gain Bogut, an offensive threat in the front court we dearly need, somewhat like a young Brad Miller, who could work well paired with Thomas.
We would get rid of Hinrich and replace him with Ridnour, a lesser player across the board but one who's salary is up in 2010, which, with a little wrangling and depending on what happens with Gordon, could still have room to sign a big 2010 FA. If we targeted Amare or Bosh we would still have Thomas to dangle in a sign and trade.
We would gain a third pick in the draft which would give us lots of trade possibilities to move up and take possible Gordon replacements (Harden, Evans)
What say you?

Bogut's got the worst
injury you want a big man to have. There’s no telling how long his career will be.

yea
I should have added the caveat that Bogut pass a physical with flying colors. I didn’t realize his injury was that bad, whats the gist of it?

He had a back injury...
I don’t know exactly what, but any back injury is a bad back injury.
You don’t know how many minutes he’ll be able to play. You don’t know how many games he’ll have to miss. You don’t know if he’ll even play out his contract (effectively).
Plus, I’d simply rather have Noah.

Ask Larry Bird what it is like to play with a bad back.

He's shrinking?

wow
just noticed the Bucks traded Jefferson, don’t think that affects this imaginary trade though.

No.
Bogut just got an extension for like 10 mil a year.
He’s not that good, line is like 14 pts/9 rebounds which is ok.
He is injury prone and makes too much money. Not a good defender. This year defense is top priority.
Bogut hasn’t proved anything to me yet except that he was a waste of a number one pick

Exactly.
(A) Why give up their #1 overall pick center unless they don’t think he’ll stay healthy (in which case, why would we want him)? (B) They would love to unload Ridnour, but not for another PG who makes even more money when they’ve got Ramon Sessions in the pipeline.

And I don't think they would include the # 10 pick

You know...
You’d sleep a lot better if you weren’t thinking about Andrew Bogut.

i don't think Bogut will be better than Noah in 2 years
I’m not sure he is better now.

Nope
Nice idea, but #10 in a decent draft doesnt make up for the difference in talent of the players. Hinrich way better than Ridnour, and really……. Noah I dont think is that far off talent wise of a Bogut. Sure Bogut is more offense than D, which we need, but Noah’s work-ethic, willingness to do the little things, lack of an injury history or blip, and just overall hustle and yearly progress have me thinking promising thoughts for his Bulls career.

As much as I like Bogut...
Career Points Per 36 Minutes:
Bogut: 13.3, 55.3 TS%
Noah: 10.6, 56.7 TS%
They really aren’t that different offensively. Bogut’s better on close non-dunks (57.8 FG% vs. 44.4 FG%), but he takes so few of them it barely makes an impact on the game. And considering Bogut’s injury, Bogut’s contract, and Joakim’s superior athletic freakishness, I’d rather just stick with Noah.

Add in that Noah
is a helluva lot cheaper, Hinrich’s worth more than Ridnour even though Ridnour’s off the books what next year maybe?, and the #10 pick probably isn’t materially better than #16 in this draft (and that we’ll be littered with 3 first rounders to work out later trades in a weak draft).
I’d say no thanks.
I think Noah’s already the better player of the two (smarter, better defender, more fundamentally sound on D, as good a passer, just not the shooter—though Bogut’s not a great offensive player himself beside sseeming to have the tools).
No thanks to Bogut.
Pre contract, maybe it’s a thinker, but post contract no.
THE BULLS ARE GOING TO WIN IN 2010....maybe by stating this the positive vibes can make it happen.

I see it's been said already,
but I doubt the Bucks would pull the trigger on this one. They like Bogut a lot, and they seem ready to start from scratch in Timberwolves fashion, keeping one or two players as starting blocks and dumping salaries like crazy. This would make them slightly better, but they would still suck and would not have all the cap space they crave.
I wouldn’t do it if I were the Bulls, either. Noah has more upside than Bogut to me, and I’d venture to say he’s better than Bogut right now. As for Ridnour, no. Just no.
This isn’t a terrible trade scenario, but I don’t see either team being very interested in this kind of deal. Now, if we started over and tried to get our hands on Redd (Hinrich and the expiring TiT contract for Redd works on paper, although we’d probably have to either take Ridnour’s lousy contract or fork over a draft pick), I’d be interested.
