While not exactly ground breaking news, I would prefer Mullens to almost everyone else projected to be available at that spot. I continue to hold out hope that the Bulls can trade both picks as this draft is mediocre, and the last thing the Bulls need is more mediocre young players.

Doug Thonus had a good point in his blog

The JamesOn Curry guarantee was out weeks in advance, and turned out to be true.

If this is true,

Paxson must of not liked what he saw when he visited Omer Asik.

by PricanStar on Jun 15, 2009 12:12 PM CDT reply actions

or maybe

Paxson was never as geeked on Omer Asik that everyone else was around here.

by Jesse07 on Jun 15, 2009 1:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Or maybe

Paxson is planning on the first ever Triplet Towers (Mullens, Asik, Noah).

by arjoseph on Jun 15, 2009 2:58 PM CDT up reply actions

Trip Ts

It makes me feel really old, but Gilmore, Greenwood and Dwight Jones used to be called the Triple Towers. They were actually good for awhile.

these guys are trade chips

and I think Noah can play power forward.

by Basketball Smurf on Jun 15, 2009 3:19 PM CDT up reply actions

Exactly,

Maybe Pax knows it’s not hard to trade a young, potentially talented 7-footer… especially at next year’s trade deadline.

by smash! on Jun 16, 2009 10:36 AM CDT up reply actions

how dare you.

but either way, it’s not until the start of the 2010-11 season at the earliest. And the Bulls can’t ‘pass’ during the draft…actually, I wouldn’t put it past these guys.

3 centers

seemed like Pax was gettin everyone geeked up on Asik who will be here very soon. Why draft another center unless his knee got messed up again?

The word out of the workouts in New Jersey was that Ohio State’s B.J. Mullens skipped the workout because he had been promised to be picked in the top 16.

The top 16 probably means No. 16, which is the Chicago Bulls. Mullens would be a really good fit for Chicago, as he has huge upside and plays a position of need. He’s a long ways away, but the Bulls probably could afford to gamble at this point in the draft.

A few other teams, including the Knicks, Bobcats and Suns, also are considering Mullens, but it is most likely that he’ll be on the board at No. 16 when the Bulls pick.

Sam Smith has never done substantial research on anything

the fact that his sources didn’t confirm the rumor is meaningless.

by Basketball Smurf on Jun 15, 2009 3:21 PM CDT reply actions

And to be honest, he could have been asked by the Bulls....

to douse this rumor. He’s withheld draft gossip and potential trades/picks before (as in, last year) for the sake of the Bulls.

if the Bulls draft Mullens and let Gordon walk while keeping Hinrich, I might just revolt.

Yeah, there's no way they'd let you post over there for more than a week

"Vinny continues to act like a crazed arsonist pouring gasoline on our season while running around carrying a torch yelling 'I’m in charge. Don’t any of you foolish knaves try to second guess me. I know gasoline is a liquid but I’m pretty sure it isn’t flammable and the odor gives me a natural high.'" - Tyrusmancrush

We could give him character references...

Forget a week — he wouldn’t last a day with those in hand.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

What other teams need a young center project on a rookie pay scale?

Maybe the Bulls trade him away for an established big? Amare perhaps?

Another update
Ohio State center B.J. Mullens told Charlotte reporters after his Monday workout for the Bobcats that the Pistons and Bulls have expressed the most interest in him. This comes on the heels of Mullens allegedly posting on Twitter that the Bulls promised him they would pick him at No. 16.

Though the Bulls have worked out Mullens, no such promise has been made.

Just thought of this.

I wonder if the agents get together just before the draft and hold a semi-mock draft just to see where guys are going. Then I wonder if they get back to teams so that the teams can trade up or down? Is the process too cutthroat for that?

Sam we have an assignment for you should you choose to accept it. It’s fraught with danger, but you’ll do your best for the cause.

B.J. Mullens....

Just finished watching his highlight video. He has a good assortement of post moves. Very athletic. He reminds me a little of David Robinson. (I’m not saying he’ll be THAT good but who knows.)
