Somehow I'm guessing he didn't write that statement himself

"I'd also like to apologize for spawning dozens of duplicate threads at BlogABull"
thanks, Derrick!
(btw, I wouldn’t count this as one :) )

That was pretty bad
to miss the earlier thread not to mention the hundreds of comments before posting. Stupidly hould have known that by the time something is posted on the Trib website it’s been bludgeoned to death here.
Thanks for removing it…..
heh, no problem
it’s literally a click of a button to remove those, I just like to deter future incidents through shame.

Apparently Blog a Bull is a "non-mainstream Chicago sports blog"
At least according to the Trib. God forbid they actually cite a blog as a source.

actually
it was here a few days ago, and dabullz.com a few before that. I’m guessing the Trib got wind of it after The Big Lead posted it today.

Me!
Would it kill the mainstream press to give a little credit to blogs? I got it from dabullz and cited them, so I guess they should be getting all the credit. I emailed my link to TBL and WithLeather and few others though, so that’s why this took off. Now I just feel bad for Rose. Particularly since the Trib, ESPN, ect. didn’t drive any real traffic to TUP or dabullz.

that is the true crime :)

Innnocent until proven guilty. Those are all up in their air still.
The photo…is just there. Pretty indisputable. Now how can we get them to notice the Noah vacation photos….
Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.
Grade changing and cheating in hs and SAT.

Everyone cheats
but being in gang is bad. Seriously

Nice statement BJ Armstrong and Co...
except for the fact that you need to cover your bases before you infer it was a joke at a party, and you need to kill the evidence that still exists on My Space that shows DR flashing that same sign in numerous photos, on at least 3 different days. Probably also want to take down the comments that applaud him for looking “so gangsta”!
(And you probably want to take down that other photo that some conservative people would consider obscene as well.)
Academic malfeasance, drugs, gang violence,
and now lies.
It just gets worse for the cold-blooded hoodlum that is Derrick Rose.
The poster formerly known as Freethefro.
I would also state that the above comment was a joke,
and that in writing it MPG is only guilty of youth, naivete, and a large heaping of dumb.

He's got us all fooled!

It's not uncommon for city kids to take pictures like this and rep the hood.
But trust me when I say he’s not a real gangster…If people knew anything about Englewood and 100 other areas of the city that I’m CERTAIN not many people here have ever visited (let alone driven through) then they’d know this goes on all the time. And who cares anyway as long as he gets the Bulls to the promised land in the near future? I sure as hell don’t. I want Derrick Rose to be a great basketball player…not my son’s role model.

No, he looks like he's blinking...
there are other photos from that same night where he looks absoultely fine.
b4 the smoke session? lol
I was watching the 1995 Playoffs VS the Magic's and remembered how much I hated Horace Grant. Horace Grant - i hope you burn in bball hell
No, I don't think he was.
I don’t really care if he was, but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t. I’m sitting here looking at several photos from that night, at the same place, with the same boys, and none of them look high. And in photos taken sequentially before and after, Derrick looks completely normal. But I’m glad you’re so sure…
I was joking.
gah

Why make the statement?
I was kinda wondering that myself. The news only picked it up after he made the statement. Then that photo appeared on every channel’s late night news. Not sure if they should have addressed it with a statement.
Not to go all race-relations
But I’m imagining his agents/brain trust is realizing throwing up gang signs in a city with a long and troubled history with that those organizations is bad for sponsors, the team, etc. Cheating on the SAT? Meh, almost everyone realizes the system is broken and the age-limit is stupid.
This is something new to a lot of people who have no idea how the other half of Chicago lives. The quicker they say something to soothe everyone, the better. Judging from the people calling in to the radio stations, I’d say the strategy worked.
That Steve Nash is exactly the same as Kirk Hinrich, but worse.
