Power Forwards Wanted. Undersized, Poor Defenders, and Wanna-be ‘Threes’ need not apply.

I understand that the NBA has changed in recent years, and now features a more up-tempo overall style and pace, liberal defensive rules and more mobile centers, etc.

But is it too much to ask to have a legitimate power-forward - you know - one of those guys who are 6’8”- 6’10”; who is not just an undersized center, one who doesn’t want to be a small forward, one who actually likes to mix it up in the paint and rebound, one who is not allergic to boxing out and playing position defense?

You know, one of those guys no self-respecting championship contender can do without?

I don’t want to hear about ball-handling skills, and defense-stretching shooting range.

I don’t want to hear about end-to-end quickness or vertical leap.

Wingspan need only be proportionate to body type (mesomorphic – for old-school types.)

If he possesses any of those, I guess I can live with it, but I won’t be too happy about it.

Any future Buck Williams’, Rudy T’s, Otis Thorpes, Charles Oakley’s, Kevin McHales, Antonio Davises, etc., out there?

If so where are they?  When found, please direct them to:
