Around SBN: How A Letter From Tom Coughlin Helped One Fan's Recovery

Let the Conspiracy Theories Commence...

The NBA is staying consistent.....not to be sour grapes about the whole Rondo thing, but this is ridiculous. I didn't see the play but it couldn't have been any worse than what Rondo did either time. This certainly doesn't help the NBA fend off the conspircay theorists.

Why the NBA continues this charade is beyond me, but it's getting pretty stupid.  Why don't they just come out and say who they want in the finals.  The lack of consistency when it comes to applying the rules is staggering.  The rules are only used when it's most convenient.

I saw that, too, and just had to laugh

But while the article suggests it’s relative to player history, I’m still wondering how much of it is relative to player size. Maybe it’s just that much easier for a scrawny little delicate looking guy to get away with crap.

And I do think Rondo’s throwing Kirk into the scorer’s table would have been upgraded to a 1 had they not called it in the game, so maybe there is some consistency there.

Of course I still think the foul on Miller should have been a 1 and the foul on Kirk a 2. And I hope that every player and every team that gets tagged with a flagrant the rest of the postseason howls about the inconsistency. ;)

wow

I actually saw the play last night. It was nowhere close to the Rondo foul (that’s not the Bulls fan in me talking, that’s just the basketball fan talking).

I don’t believe in conspiracy theories when it comes to the NBA…but like you said, they ARE consistent…consistently BAD.

Yeah, I was surprised they upgraded it

I was also surprised at D-Wade’s foul that was called a flagrant.

i think they downgraded that one after the game

Did they? Good.

They should have. It didn’t look like a flagrant to me, especially if the criteria is play on the ball with no wind up or follow through!

yeah, i hadn't seen it but just watched it

no way is that a flagrant. i’m pretty sure they downgraded it and cited the downgrade for not upgrading rondo’s, even though they’re nothing alike.

I believe

I believe thats how we got Derrick Rose.

I'm inclined to think you actually could be right.

Lebron’s hometown team gets the #1 pick during his draft year, and then the same thing happens with Rose. It is definitely a little suspect.

For the record..

I don’t believe in conspiracy theories either, but some things make you wonder.

reference to this story – do you think the foul gets upgraded if the player who was fouled wasn’t one of the NBA poster boys of the last decade? Makes you wonder.

Another blurb on this today...
…He talked about some of the "hits" during Chicago-Boston and Atlanta-Miami, adding that Martin’s actions weren’t out of line considering the bodies that went flying out East. Karl wondered aloud about the "consistency" the league uses when deciding whether such incidents fall between a "basketball game" and "wrestling match or boxing match."…

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.
