I don't think so.
As a practical matter, with the salary cap and luxury tax, you have to consider a guy’s contract and how it impacts the team’s financial structure. But I think one of the consequences of that is we start to lose sight of how good/bad a player is aside from their contract. “He’s not so great for the money he’s making” turns into “He’s not so great” – leaving a guy still overpaid, but now underrated.

Yeah
Overpaid typically makes you think of famous busts of the NBA (or problem children like Hughes who don’t bother being as good as they could be), but sometimes a guy is still an ok player or only overpaid in the context of the team they are on. Which is Hinrich’s main fault. Rose will be our starting PG. As a starting PG Kirk’s paycheck would be much more understandable. And as the Bulls are looking to add more pieces and perhaps a big man he becomes a valuable piece to be moved but a problem if you can’t move him and find him a bump in the road on the way to that big man.

Hey, we are getting there.
Rose is better than Hinrich. We just still have Hinrich for some reason and needs elsewhere that should be filled. I wonder how Gar is at jenga. This will take some finesse.

Watching this LA game
im thinkin..Kirk for Ariza. La needs a PG (Fish is old and Farmer vs Kirk is no comparison)..and Ariza would fit in perfect in our style, plus he’s cheap. just a random thought as I saw him do that nasty ass dunk

When you said "cheap"
Jerry’s nose itched.
Speaking of cheap, I was watching the Nuggets/Lakers game and while the refs were not that good it was interesting to see two teams equally take extra knocks at each other all night. Made me wonder how things might have turned out if we had some guys who could give it out like that as well as take it.

it looks like the higher you reach in the postseason
the more physical it get. But hey…Brad gave it and took it…too bad he’s like 1 or 2 years too old to give it back consistently

I think
Kirk is only overpaid now because we lucked into Rose. I think last season he redeemed himself after the one god awful year which was also the year he’ll make the most money. But for a player as good as he is, he’s right in line with what he should be making next year and the year after…..a solid to very good starting PG who is versatile enough to play 2 positions offensively and 3 positions defensively…..plus he’s a starter on at least 15 teams in the league if not more (and I’d vote more)….
He’s just not as good as Rose. I don’t think he deserves to be on this list at all with his $9.2M and $8M salary as Shaq’s $20M, Shards $21M, KMart’s $17M and Kidd’s 18M or thereabouts…..

Good point...
Kirk’s salary will be lower and lower in the coming years, where as many of those other contracts will be ballooning in later years.
