Pre Game 7 hype thread
Not much to say heading into this one. Whoever was hurting is still hurting, whoever wasn't suspended still isn't suspended.
But a word on 'pressure': If there's an idea that the Bulls are the underdogs and feel less pressure to win tonight, that they have nothing to lose...that's silly. They have everything to lose. This game, the series, their season. Pressure is on who wants to win the game, so it's on both teams.
Clearly these teams are evenly matched. So there's no excuse not to take this tonight. Go Bulls!

I want the Bulls to win but
does anyone else feel like the refs will somehow change the outcome of the game like call a foul for Paul Pierce or Ray Allen with 2 seconds left and give them free throws. Whatever thats just what i feel, GO BULLS!!!!!!
If you want a success story just take a look at mine.
Bulls will win
Have no fear, the refs won’t decide this one. The Bulls will separate themselves and take it. No overtime this time.
If we show up to play,
and this is the Bulls so one never knows, we have every chance to win. Talent wise we have it. We just need to not have another choke like Game 3. With Salmons on the mend we have three guys who could go off for big points: Rose, Gordon, Salmons as well as guys like Noah, Miller, and Kirk who could show up for 10-18 points each. And while Gordon is hurt he is still capable of putting up 14 in a quarter even if the rest of his game is crap. Showing up is the main goal tonight.
Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.
One thing I would
love to see tonight is a dejected Rondo walking off the court while Kirk and Brad celebrate on the court.
And Rose.
I want to see Tyrus Thomas swat a game-winning FGA. Well, never mind.

I have to miss about the first 30 minutes of game time
I have this feeling that I’m going to be scared to turn the TV on when I get home and see where the score stands. I would just about sell my soul for a win tonight.
Man-slave, bring me my PB&J!
Just record it on the DVR
Then watch from the beginning when you get home.

Don't get my wrong, I really really really want the Bulls to win tonight but...
I don’t like their chances in game 7 verses veterans like Pierce and Allen. I hope I’m wrong but I think the Celtics win tonight.
Then again not many people wouldve had us this far.

If they were truly better, and truly veterans...
they would have won by now. They’re not as good as the Bulls.
They’ve choked once in a close out game, and they will choke again
I hope your right.

Every home game for the Celtics
have come down to the wire in this series. They might change things up, but so far they have not established any kind of dominance on their home court. Neither have we, but we are the young, up and coming team. They are the ones with the reputation on the line.
Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.
If anyone has NBATV
They’re replaying the important parts of the earlier games right now. It’s a pretty awesome way to get psyched for tonight. (As if I needed help…)
Man-slave, bring me my PB&J!
Not so much anymore...
I’m reliving Miller’s missed free throws, and getting whacked by the cheap shot Rondo.
Win it for Red and Norm
Just win it.

No excuse?
Forget about them being evenly matched but I can give you a perfect excuse . . .
Experience.
Proof is when you see Derrick Rose trying desperately to give the ball to another teammate in these overtime periods.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure both teams want it just as bad and no one wants the Bulls to win more then themselves and us fans but I wouldn’t go as far as saying they have no excuses to lose
Ughh
I know he made some shots too in a couple OT’s but don’t act like he hasn’t been tentative in these OT’s.
He’s too amazing NOT to make plays, but all I’m saying is that he’s not himself during it
He's made several mistakes, but he's only 20 years old
They should probably mix it up a little more in OT, I agree. Go to Hinrich, Gordon, and Salmons a little more.
since Pax made his statement about Rose playing in the 4th
I can’t remember a 4th quarter where Rose didn’t play down the stretch. No way VDN sits Rose any if this games goes to overtime.

Aren't, um... Gordon, Hinrich, Salmons, Miller and even Noah now "experienced"?
Do you really believe that any of these guys wilt under the pressure?
People should remember that while they have the right to their opinion, they are not entitled to be taken seriously. --Bruce Bartlett
I don't think the latter two would qualify, but I think Noah's steal and dunk & FT gives it to him.
I have zero doubt he’ll get “nervous” during crunch time.
People should remember that while they have the right to their opinion, they are not entitled to be taken seriously. --Bruce Bartlett
Noah has yet to look "young" out there.
Rose looked a little timid when Gordon fouled out, but he came back with that big block. With enough of those big moments in their minds they have every chance to know what it is like to step it up and match any playoff basketball moments the Celtics might dish out.
Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.
Only in the NBA...
do you suspend Dwight Howard for a ticky tack retaliation but not do anything to Rondo for throwing a guy into a table.
Celtics are still gonna lose!!! Go BULLS!!!
I'm leaving soon to go pick up my tickets and go to the game...
First playoff game ever…I’m going to try not to root for them too much as I don’t want to spend the whole game drenched in beer and or spit. It’s gonna be difficult. Man I hope they can pull this one out
wear the beer and spit like a basge of honor
don’t stop cheering for fear of other fans.

my cousin was trying to convince me to go to the game tonight
i went to game 2, that was pretty nuts.
have a great time though. and the boston fans actually left me alone, so hope they can pay you the same respect.
"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"
I think our only chance of winning tonight is if BG and DRose is hot tonight
If both those things aren’t there, it’s gonna be a long night. Don’t be mad at me, but every poll on ESPN asking who will win, I’ve been choosing the Celtics. I do this because when I choose the Bulls, we lose, so hopefully my strategy doesn’t backfire. I noticed our team plays better when people are picking against them. SO PROVE ME WRONG BULLS!!
I think Rose and Gordon step up tonight
But watch out fot Tyrus, I think if he can set a tone in the middle and score a few baskets early, it could really give us an edge.
i'm afraid of tyrus
he makes a lot of stupid decisions when he has the ball away from the basket. I want to see tyrus move more without the ball and hustle down the court every time.
I'm hoping he can do a better job against Cry Baby Davis
That’s the guy whose been killing us in this series. the guy had like 23 and 10 in the last game. If Tyrus can do a good job against him, we have a shot
I've seen him pass the ball back to the PG a lot though
knowing that he gets a lot of grief for poor decisions.
Sometimes he’s too tentative though, he needs to use his athleticism to explode to the whole. If it’s not there though he needs to kick it out. He’ll learn with experience.
i think gordon's going to be hot
he’s going to be the most rested of anyone (similar to allen in game 5).
"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"
Just a thought...
this might be the last time we see Tyrus as a Bull. Or Gordon. Or Hinrich.
Go Bulls.
The poster formerly known as Freethefro.
that's what people were saying last game...
I say let what happens happen, hopefully everyone will be playing their hearts out.
It seems like everyone here is nervous..
Isn’t it a great feeling though? With the national attention this series has gotten and being at game 6, I got to tell you, this is why we love sports! Thursday was like almost a religious experience with everyone hi-fiving in the corridors and parking lots. No matter how this goes, Props to the Bulls for making this season worth while. By the way, I got the Bulls winning tonight!
Heck yeah!
And ESPN is usually anti-Chicago, but they’re talking this one up.
GO BULLS!!
I’m off to the bar. Good luck fellas, ladies. Don’t let the Celtics trolls bite.

Wonder who the officials will be tonight.
Seems like that might make a tiny difference…

javie, mccutcheon, willard
pretty good crew; i generally like javie (although he has a quick trigger on the T’s), monty mccutcheon is decent, and i dont much about greg willard, which when it comes to refs is generally a good thing
joey crawford?
he did game 6. and he’s a prick
Thanks.
I’ll take that crew. Javie and McCutcheon are good. You’re right about Javie’s temper.

yea my initial reaction when i saw the crew was that i was happy
really, i was just happy there was no joey crawford, bennett salvatore, eddie f. rush, dick bavetta, or violet palmer.
Or Hue Hollins
:)

No one
is predicting the Bulls tonight. I’m scared and excited and I hope all of the pundits are proven wrong.
me three
the bulls seem to play better when they have no expectations.
game 3 they started to gain steam and they fell flat… then once the pressure was on again in game 4 they came through.
"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"
I was picking against the Bulls...
hopefully Bulls players will see that nobody is picking them and play their hearts out.
Consistent with the rest of the series.
No one was gave them a chance in the beginning.

Hopefully a great sports day
A full slate of baseball, the Bulls and Blackhawks tonight, the Kentucky Derby, Hatton Pacquiao. Could be a great day, but only if the Bulls win tonight!
I’m so pumped!

Keys to the game
- Bulls have to move the ball. They can’t get stuck going to much 1 on 1 in the halfcourt.
- 2 of 3 – Rose, Gordon and Salmons have to have good shooting nights. Rose can’t turn the ball over a ton. All 3 have to play good D. We’ve been holding Pierce down for the most part. But Rajon and Allen have gone off too many times. Most likely, if we are going to win, one of these 3 guys needs to have a monster game.
- Kirk and Miller need to continue to play well off the bench.
- The Bulls have to take and make open shots. I don’t want to see Kirk, Salmons or Gordon turning down open 3’s. This is a big part of our game, guys can’t get scared out there.
- VDN needs to not sub like a drunken sailor tonight. No Hunter. No TiT. No Gray. Role with the guys who brought you. And for godsakes, hold on to a timeout.
- Rebound, Rebound, Rebound. We have to hold our own on the boards.

One more thing
We can never give up. If they get up by 10 or so early and the place is rockin we can’t give up there.
We need to stay focused
So are the second, third, and fourth.
along with the 14OTs that are going to happen tonight
Playing solid defense is my key to the game.
I know its a lot to ask of a team that doesn’t play much defense, but if they get the lead, I want to see them hold it…
Actually, I think this game could go that way, the Bulls open up an early lead, take the crowd out of it, and somehow turn up the defensive intensity…maybe.

I'm going to be a doofus and say Tyrus Thomas can be the X-Factor.
He hasn’t done shit yet (except for, you know, winning game 1 in OT), but he always has that potential. If he’s on fire on offense and defense and any one of those things you listed happen, they might run away Okay, probably not, but they could stay in the lead for a while.
People should remember that while they have the right to their opinion, they are not entitled to be taken seriously. --Bruce Bartlett
i'd be shocked if tyrus played down the stretch
unless Miller and/or Noah are in foul trouble. Even if one is, VDN may go with the 3 guard plus Salmons line up. I don’t think it will even matter how Tyrus plays through the first 3 quarters, he is not playing the 4th.
by Basketball Smurf on May 2, 2009 5:30 PM CDT up reply actions
Yeah, taking that into consideration, I basically meant to start the game.
I doubt he’ll be in during the entire 4th quarter, even if he is playing well.

it could just be my blind tyrus manlove
but im feelin a big game from tyrus tonight

Im telling myself if they loose it will be ok...they played awesome...but
I know i’ll go into a month long depression.
Who's your unlikely X-factor of the game?
I’m gonna have to go with Kirk, he’s gonna have to take over if BG or Rose is not playing well
i'll say Brad Miller
you know he is going to play a lot. Is he going to be turnover Brad or kiss-ass Brad? His ability to make shots and not to make dumb passes will be important.

I think the most nervous was the timeout right before Paxson's 3 in 1993.
I remember being a kid and walking out of my house dunked on my 6 foot adjusted rim and walked in right when the pass was going to Horace!
I remember that timeout
No joke an eerie calm came over me right before it cut back to the game. I still remember the commercial that was on when it happened.

One little quibble I have about this series:
I highly doubt that this is the “best series ever.” When I think of a series that’s “the best,” I assume that the two best teams in the league will be pitted against each other. That’s not the case here: if anything, this series is the most entertaining series in recent memory.
Whoever wins, it ultimately won’t matter. I don’t think anyone can stop James’ Cavs at the moment, especially in the Eastern Conference
You do know
the Celtics are the defending champs right? not some chump team.

That’s one of the worst arguments you could have made. They’re different from last year.
But they're still the champs
