Pre Game 7 hype thread

Not much to say heading into this one. Whoever was hurting is still hurting, whoever wasn't suspended still isn't suspended.

But a word on 'pressure': If there's an idea that the Bulls are the underdogs and feel less pressure to win tonight, that they have nothing to lose...that's silly. They have everything to lose. This game, the series, their season. Pressure is on who wants to win the game, so it's on both teams.

Clearly these teams are evenly matched. So there's no excuse not to take this tonight. Go Bulls!

I want the Bulls to win but

does anyone else feel like the refs will somehow change the outcome of the game like call a foul for Paul Pierce or Ray Allen with 2 seconds left and give them free throws. Whatever thats just what i feel, GO BULLS!!!!!!

If you want a success story just take a look at mine.

Bulls will win

Have no fear, the refs won’t decide this one. The Bulls will separate themselves and take it. No overtime this time.

by SlamDunk on May 2, 2009 7:00 PM CDT up reply actions

If we show up to play,

and this is the Bulls so one never knows, we have every chance to win. Talent wise we have it. We just need to not have another choke like Game 3. With Salmons on the mend we have three guys who could go off for big points: Rose, Gordon, Salmons as well as guys like Noah, Miller, and Kirk who could show up for 10-18 points each. And while Gordon is hurt he is still capable of putting up 14 in a quarter even if the rest of his game is crap. Showing up is the main goal tonight.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

One thing I would

love to see tonight is a dejected Rondo walking off the court while Kirk and Brad celebrate on the court.

And Rose.

I want to see Tyrus Thomas swat a game-winning FGA. Well, never mind.

I have to miss about the first 30 minutes of game time

I have this feeling that I’m going to be scared to turn the TV on when I get home and see where the score stands. I would just about sell my soul for a win tonight.

Don't get my wrong, I really really really want the Bulls to win tonight but...

I don’t like their chances in game 7 verses veterans like Pierce and Allen. I hope I’m wrong but I think the Celtics win tonight.

Then again not many people wouldve had us this far.

Every home game for the Celtics

have come down to the wire in this series. They might change things up, but so far they have not established any kind of dominance on their home court. Neither have we, but we are the young, up and coming team. They are the ones with the reputation on the line.

No excuse?

Forget about them being evenly matched but I can give you a perfect excuse . . .

Experience.

Proof is when you see Derrick Rose trying desperately to give the ball to another teammate in these overtime periods.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure both teams want it just as bad and no one wants the Bulls to win more then themselves and us fans but I wouldn’t go as far as saying they have no excuses to lose

Ughh

I know he made some shots too in a couple OT’s but don’t act like he hasn’t been tentative in these OT’s.

Noah has yet to look "young" out there.

Rose looked a little timid when Gordon fouled out, but he came back with that big block. With enough of those big moments in their minds they have every chance to know what it is like to step it up and match any playoff basketball moments the Celtics might dish out.

If both those things aren’t there, it’s gonna be a long night. Don’t be mad at me, but every poll on ESPN asking who will win, I’ve been choosing the Celtics. I do this because when I choose the Bulls, we lose, so hopefully my strategy doesn’t backfire. I noticed our team plays better when people are picking against them. SO PROVE ME WRONG BULLS!!

i'm afraid of tyrus

he makes a lot of stupid decisions when he has the ball away from the basket. I want to see tyrus move more without the ball and hustle down the court every time.

by aznsensation on May 2, 2009 4:42 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm hoping he can do a better job against Cry Baby Davis

That’s the guy whose been killing us in this series. the guy had like 23 and 10 in the last game. If Tyrus can do a good job against him, we have a shot

by Dils on May 2, 2009 4:43 PM CDT up reply actions

I've seen him pass the ball back to the PG a lot though

knowing that he gets a lot of grief for poor decisions.

Sometimes he’s too tentative though, he needs to use his athleticism to explode to the whole. If it’s not there though he needs to kick it out. He’ll learn with experience.

Keys to the game

- Bulls have to move the ball. They can’t get stuck going to much 1 on 1 in the halfcourt.

- 2 of 3 – Rose, Gordon and Salmons have to have good shooting nights. Rose can’t turn the ball over a ton. All 3 have to play good D. We’ve been holding Pierce down for the most part. But Rajon and Allen have gone off too many times. Most likely, if we are going to win, one of these 3 guys needs to have a monster game.

- Kirk and Miller need to continue to play well off the bench.

- The Bulls have to take and make open shots. I don’t want to see Kirk, Salmons or Gordon turning down open 3’s. This is a big part of our game, guys can’t get scared out there.

- VDN needs to not sub like a drunken sailor tonight. No Hunter. No TiT. No Gray. Role with the guys who brought you. And for godsakes, hold on to a timeout.

- Rebound, Rebound, Rebound. We have to hold our own on the boards.

by Basketball Smurf on May 2, 2009 5:03 PM CDT reply actions

One more thing

We can never give up. If they get up by 10 or so early and the place is rockin we can’t give up there.
We need to stay focused

by Edicus2288i on May 2, 2009 5:06 PM CDT up reply actions

Playing solid defense is my key to the game.

I know its a lot to ask of a team that doesn’t play much defense, but if they get the lead, I want to see them hold it…

Actually, I think this game could go that way, the Bulls open up an early lead, take the crowd out of it, and somehow turn up the defensive intensity…maybe.

I'm going to be a doofus and say Tyrus Thomas can be the X-Factor.

He hasn’t done shit yet (except for, you know, winning game 1 in OT), but he always has that potential. If he’s on fire on offense and defense and any one of those things you listed happen, they might run away Okay, probably not, but they could stay in the lead for a while.

i'd be shocked if tyrus played down the stretch

unless Miller and/or Noah are in foul trouble. Even if one is, VDN may go with the 3 guard plus Salmons line up. I don’t think it will even matter how Tyrus plays through the first 3 quarters, he is not playing the 4th.

by Basketball Smurf on May 2, 2009 5:30 PM CDT up reply actions

One little quibble I have about this series:

I highly doubt that this is the “best series ever.” When I think of a series that’s “the best,” I assume that the two best teams in the league will be pitted against each other. That’s not the case here: if anything, this series is the most entertaining series in recent memory.

Whoever wins, it ultimately won’t matter. I don’t think anyone can stop James’ Cavs at the moment, especially in the Eastern Conference

Nah, the celtics are definitely chumps.

How is last year a representation of the playoffs this year?

That’s one of the worst arguments you could have made. They’re different from last year.

But they're still the champs

and the second best team in the East. Besides Garnett out, what has really changed on their team from last year?
