Not to take anything away from the Celtics

But I hated to hear the “heart of a champion” line so many times. And I know knowing how to not beat yourself is something but to me the first round the Bulls beat themselves and basically did what they had always done all year. And the Magic just self destructed both teams should of beaten that team in 5 so its funny when Charles says those teams should be worried because they didn’t beat them without KG. (its not really the case that they can’t beat that team)

One more thing its funny everyone kept talking about KG if he was with the Celtics. How about Jameer Nelson that was the leader of the Magic no matter what anybody says. I saw him shoot so many daggers this season and that system of theirs helps to have a scoring PG. I was thinking they were a outside contender until he got hurt.

totally agrees to the Jameer Nelson part

everytime someone says “but they’re without KG!” I’m always screaming that Orlando’s without Nelson too!
If Nelson was healthy throughout the whole season, the Magic would be better than they are right now, and that’s scary. Don’t forget, he was suppose to be an All-Star this season before his injury.

I hate that people are basically making excuses for them

If we play the “If KG isn’t hurt and plays” game then we can magically bring back Deng and Salmons doesn’t have a groin injury. You bring back Nelson the true leader and guy who makes the Magic go to me and determines their tempo. (not to mention decisions at the end of games)
Or even something bigger like my friend who’s a fan of the Rockets would say Yao and T-Mac are now back and to me that team healthy I thought they were gonna win a ring this year.

But back to Nelson that guy was an elite PG before he went out. Everyone said the Alston would run the offense better but they need someone to make shots. I thought they were underrating Nelsons play making ability too he was impressive breaking down the defense. I think Nelson is really gonna come alive next year.
The reason I liked the Magic early on was because they had a mismatch at the 1-3-4-5 and sometimes 2. Also their bench didn’t get much credit Mikael Pietrus wasn’t even Kenny Smiths first choice to be the biggest factor in the game off the 2 benchs when hes the best player off the bench for them. Hes a good/average defender at least can handle can shoot thats versatility off the bench.
And another mismatch I thought we saw flashes of his talent in Golden State he just doesn’t put up big numbers. (the Lee guy is way better than I thought though he’ll be great for them)
But anyway the Magic looked lost without Nelson the Celtics not really I think obviously the Magic are still a better team you take both away. But they arguably lost the same kind of piece a tone setter.

Courtney Lee was my second favorite rookie in the playoffs

I was really impressed watching him from the Sixers and Celtics series.
He had a great playoff debut (18 points) and he did a great job guarding either Pierce or Allen and even though he didn’t score much, all his baskets came at the time they needed to score.
Too bad he had to wear that stupid mask. (it’s only temporary, right?)

I believe so but sometimes we see guys get injured again

Then have to keep wearing it but I doubt he’ll be a case like Rip or Amar’e

I was still wondering why they didn’t play him more minutes than Reddick or Pietrus. Cause JJ was shooting bad and I thought both of the other two could of guarded Allen better.

by Camry on May 19, 2009 6:05 PM CDT up reply actions

they were probably still controlling his minutes

after the surgery.

I was wondering if it was because

Redick was doing a good job defensively or a combination of the two. Cause Lee looked great when he was in the game to me.

by Camry on May 20, 2009 7:32 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah, i'm not sure

but since the guy did have sinus surgery, wouldn’t be surprised if they wanted to be careful with him if JJ was doing alright.

can’t say for myself, i didn’t really watch.

It'll be interesting to see if KG can hold up

I see him as a player like Alonzo Mourning, who puts in tremendous effort and can handle a lot of NBA miles. Alas, Zo couldn’t hang around forever and his body eventually broke down despite being in amazing shape.
Is KG headed down the same path?
I expect him to be back next year with the Celts…. along with Pierce and Allen. But I bet KG gets less minutes on purpose and they worry less about getting 60 regular season wins.

i wasn't aware

that kidney issues affected knee ligaments

they don't, wiz kid

I was saying that his kidney issue contributed to his breakdown…slow enough for ya?

I know what you're saying, and maybe

But I think it was his years of intense physical play that helped make his body go downhill.
He played at a high level after returning from the kidney transplant, not just a few games for the sake of beating the disease and proving to himself that he could get back in shape. He played at an exceptional level for a guy his age and abuse — irregardless of the kidney thing.
