Message In a Foul
Even while playing basketball in my third period high school gym class, a clean but a hard foul usually sent a clear message to the other team. In so many words hard foul meant two things; whoever comes in the lane will have to earn the points the hard way and if you did you got the respect of everyone on the court. In the last five games, not once I have seen a single clean hard foul from any of the Bulls players, Vinny Del Negro's 'maverick' minded philosophy has made this series entertaining like when John McCain announced Sarah Palin as his running mate. How the Bulls decide to play in tomorrow night's game, will define what kind of a bulls team we can expect to see in the years to come. The Bulls need to come out and play physical brand of basketball, send a quick and a definite message to Rojon Rondo wrapped in a hard foul; "Say asta la vista to the days of getting red carpet treatment in the driving lane from the Bulls welcoming party, Its Game On".
Go Bulls!

It's a trap
The first hard foul in game seven from the Bulls is probably going to put the team in a bad position. The league is going to be silent on Rondo’s yet another attempt to play for the ball with his elbow and the ball being Hinrich’s face and the players will settle the disputes on their on during the game, in primetime, when no other games will be on TV.

I know it's crazy...
But I’m still holding out hope that Rondo will be suspended for game 7 (unless they have already said otherwise and I’m completely unaware).
If Dwight Howard get’s suspended for throwing an elbow, and connecting, then the only difference between him and Rondo is that Rondo missed. What kind of message is that from the league? We’ll tolerate fighting as long as the two people fighting don’t land any punches?
I know it’s crazy, but I don’t think Stern wants to miss yet another obvious call on the chippy Rondo. On the flip side of that, suspending Rondo would effectively destroy their chances in game 7 IMO, ratings would suffer, and they surely can’t allow that to happen either… SMH.

and the only difference between Rondo in game 5
and Trevor Ariza on Rudy Fernandez is the consequence. The league shoudn’t litigate based on what happens after the play, but they do. Because they’re dumbasses. It’s precedent.

Speaking of precendent...
I’m assuming you read what Mariotti wrote on the subject?
“Rondo showed his youth when he lost his composure late in the first quarter. As Hinrich tangled him up, the skinny provocateur decided to grab him by the shoulder and whip him into the ad board at the front of the scorer’s table. The NBA postseason precedent, of course, came when San Antonio’s Robert Horry hip-checked Phoenix’s Steve Nash into the same ad board in a 2007 series that remains controversial to this day. When Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw left the Suns bench, they were suspended for a game. What’s forgotten is that Horry, who was ejected, received a two-game suspension. Rondo’s heave of Hinrich was a little more forceful than the Horry hip-check. So why wasn’t Rondo ejected? Why did he receive a flagrant foul 1 instead of a flagrant foul 2, which would have placed him in a potential suspension situation for Game 7?”
Sorry, I still don’t how link in a reply comment, but here is the original article if you didn’t read it…

Full disclosure, I can’t stand Mariotti, but on this point I have to agree with him.

I don't consider Mariotti a "writer"
no matter what bile comes out of his pen and is put … well, wherever the hell he puts his crap.

the missing part is key
i was at that game where shaq had thrown that punch at brad miller, and he was only suspended something like a game or two. i just kept thinking, what if he had hit him??

Seriously...
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if Shaq would have connected on the punch to Miller he would have made Kermit Washington and Rudy T look like a tiny scuffle in comparison. Shaq almost murdered Miller that day. He’s so lucky he missed. Still, they did suspend him right?

The partly comical thing is it seemed like he accidentally dodged it too.

The Kermit punch was way worse
Shaq was an idiot that night. The bad news is Shaq is an idiot on most nights.

Of course the Kermit punch was worse...
Shaq missed, that’s the point.

agreed
it is the act of trying to harm someone that should be punished. If you fail that is your own fault, but you should be punished the same as someone who isn’t.

Does this mean that NBA players around the league are going to have target on Rondo
like they seem to have for Brad MIller and Andres Nocioni.

I dunno. The law isn't like that.
There’s a difference between attempted murder and actually murdering someone and… down the line. But it’s not necessarily that HUGE of a difference.
They should ask themselves, if Rondo had connected on Hinrich’s jaw, what would the suspension have been, and then go one step down from there. Not 5.

Is the league
Even reviewing the Rondo foul from yesterday? Or cuz it was called a flagrant 1, that’s it…?

At this point
I think it would be hilarious if Miller grabbed Rondo at center court and scoop slammed him onto the leprechaun.
Then again, maybe I’ve been playing Legends of Wrestlemania too much the past few days…

they don’t. They are doing just fine playing the way they are; why all of this revenge nonsense.

Im glad rondo wasnt suspended
He deserves to be suspended, but I want to beat the celtics with rondo. It wouldnt be the same if we beat a rondo-less celtics. I understand that Rondo playing significantly decreases our chance of victory, but it would be dissapointing to win without him.
