S. Jackson on Rondo/Howard
Not to beat a dead horse, but Jackson defends the NBA's decision to not change the foul to a flagrant 1. Apparently it's ok to make a "basketball move" make an "attempt" for the ball as long as there is no follow through.
Also, states the obvious that a foul in qtrs 1-3 should be a foul in the 4th qtr.

my bad
I couldn’t get the link for the actual interview but it’s about midway down the page, looks like this:
NBA EVP of Basketball Operations Stu Jackson shares his thoughts on why Dwight Howard was suspended and Rajon Rondo was not. Jackson
It’s from Mike & Mike this morning

that makes it sound so dumb.
i wasn’t expecting a suspension for rondo… i don’t know about the rest of you, but i found it unrealistic.
but not not even call a flagrant 1? what. the. fuck. it’s not about “why dwight was suspended and rajon wasn’t,” the two incidents are not related and were totally different… and the whole thing is bullshit.

it's ridiculous
he made a basketball move?? What?? That might of even drawn a 15 yard penalty in the NFL. You can’t go after heads/faces, end of story.

to argue he was trying to play on the ball
is one of the most ridiculous things i’ve ever heard. if he was trying to foul, there are a million other ways he could have done it other than smacking him in the face.

This is the bet quote from the response:
“We felt Rondo was making a basketball play and going for the ball after a blown defensive assignment by the Celtics team,” Jackson said. “In terms of criteria we use to evaluate a flagrant foul penalty 1, generally we like to consider whether or not there was a wind-up, an appropriate level of impact, and a follow through. And on this foul, we did not see a wind-up, nor did he follow through, so for that reason we’re not going to upgrade this foul to a flagrant foul penalty 1. The initial play, in our mind, was on the ball — an effort to try and make an attempt on the ball and take a foul that would prohibit a game-tying basket.”
