D. Howard suspended for game 6
For the elbow that I believed wasn't even called a foul during Game 5.

We're going to have a silent video official next year
We pretty much have to at this point. The officials didn’t see the elbow. This is going to happen a lot. There’s 10 guys out there in a large amount of space. They can’t see everything. The silent video is there to review just as it is in end of quarter situations.
Stefanski says he called the league during the game. He wanted the rules enforced, uh, you know, during the freaking game.
I’m surprised they are even suspending Howard. The whiners are going to crow for another two years like the Suns fans on the Amare leaving the bench situation.
Even the video of Howard shows he was making a routine maneuver to gain position on a player yielding weight and strength to you. It wasn’t intentional, but it landed.
Rondo’s judo chop? Uh yeah. A play on the ball he couldn’t reach because he barely could reach the shoulder o the arm shooting the ball.

the officials said
they saw howard throw the elbow but didnt see it connect. in their defense, it’s only obvious that it connected from the overhead view, but i guess that’s why they should use replay in those situations

He was given a technical in the game for it.

I'm still surprised
But it seems necessary to me. By the rules, it was illegal and warrants ejection (or now suspension).
The Rondo Chop? Probably will be overlooked since not even a tech foul was called at the time. Any reprimand now makes the refs look silly…

Rondo should absolutely be suspended. He did not make a basketball play. It was
just as bad as what Dwight Howard did, maybe worse cause he connected a lot more than Dwight did – but if Dwight had connected on Sam’s face – Sam would probably be dead.

I disagree
Rondo’s at least occurred with the ball in play. You can make a (crappy) argument in intent. There’s no doubt in the intent of Dwight’s cheap shot.

But Rondo implicated in the post game interview that what he did was intentional.
Plus, he didn’t make a play on the ball, he was three feet short of even getting a finger on the ball. He swung at Brad’s mug, not at the ball. It wasn’t even close.

i posted this in the van gundy/abbott thread
but i wouldnt want to be stu jackson deciding on what to do with rondos play. no matter what he does he’s gonna look bad. if they let it stand as is the league is basically just turning away saying nothign to see here, if they upgrade it to a flagrant 1, they’re acknowledging the refs screwed up and the bulls get nothing out of it, and if they upgrade to a flagrant 2 and suspend rondo, it seems like a bit of an overreaction to me

Hilarious
Where are the Celtics fans crying conspiracy theory? Oh wait, they can’t talk because a top 5 NBA player was suspended, yet their almighty PG is immune to the NBA rulebook.
That Steve Nash is exactly the same as Kirk Hinrich, but worse.
