"Rajon Rondo never bothered to swing for the ball with Miller on the move, just a forearm to the face that crumpled him to the floor. Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro screamed for a flagrant foul, and Miller looked like a lost soul, wandering in a fog between the bench and the free-throw line, between consciousness and confusion."

The more I think about it, the angrier I get.

The bottom line is that the refs were complete and utter cowards. They knew that calling a flagrant foul in that moment was going to be a monumental call and they quailed. By being scared to “influence the game” they did exactly that. Inaction is still action, only inaction here ends up being injustice. In any regular season game, that’s a flagrant, someone other than Miller gets to shoot those FTs, and the Bulls get the ball back.

You can’t boil a game down to one play or one call, but this is ridiculous.

What makes it worse is that there’s absolutely no redress. Fining Rondo or calling similar situations correctly in the future doesn’t take the L off the board for the Bulls. Bad officiating is part of pro basketball, and that’s fine and won’t ever change (being a ref is really hard, after all), but stuff like this shouldn’t so drastically influence the bottom line. What a bad taint on an otherwise amazing series.

The inaction of the refs

May be privately reprimanded, maybe. I mean, didn’t the refs open the door to retaliate? Won’t the Celts expect retaliation now, and therefore be in the mindset in game 6 prepared to throw down at the drop of the hat? I don’t think it’s the league Stern wants anymore…

Maybe the Bulls take the high road, maybe they don’t. Hell, maybe the league wants this blood in the series – I’m sure that the last pair of eyes not watching this series already will now be tuning in on Thursday Must See TV.

I wonder if Gordon is small enough

to be allowed to decapitate Perkins. Hm… It’s been said he is like 5’ 10" or something. Smaller than Rondo. I’d say go for it. Tune in Thursday night for an exciting night of Whack-a-Mole.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

Perkins would

be taken out on a stretcher. And then pronounced dead by the Boston management.

It's some comfort that at least almost everyone outside of Boston saw it

as a flagrant. It doesn’t help the Bulls series-wise, but at least we don’t also have to listen to the talking heads (or most of them, anyway) going on about the Bulls crying over nothing.

I'm glad

Our team is full of professionals though.
I just can’t help not liking the Boston guys because of that.

i keep hearing people say

that the refs didnt want to affect the outcome of the game by calling it a flagrant. which makes no damn sense, seeing how by not calling it, they affected the outcome. so why not call it right

I remember Michael dribbling at the top of the key. Everybody knew to just get the hell out of his way. - Steve Kerr
