and fouls.

Shit and fouls, the refs aren’t calling for the Bulls. : )

by benhertz on Apr 23, 2009 9:08 PM CDT up reply actions

They called many moving screens

most on BOS, of course. But if you watch it again (as if anyone could!), you’ll see Pierce with 3 fouls get away with multiple reaches/grabs as he’s being beaten. Starting with a key TO (grabbing Hinrich?) when it was around 12 points. This continued throughout the third quarter, and with other Celts allowed to play that way too.

Bulls are young, didn’t take it to Rondo’s ankle last game, and generally don’t attack when they should.

Rose, Salmons, BG did attack a couple of times

get hammered and get nothing. Bulls are playing bad no doubt but the officiating is equally bad as expected of the celtics

For people dogging Rose, I tried to dig up the box score from the game after Jordan's 63 pt Garden effort

I couldn’t find it, but I know it wasn’t great.

Rose has played badly, but he’s going against a good defensive team with a great defensive coach. And the Bull’s have no coaching on offense that I can see. I wouldn’t decide he’s crap just yet.

My offseason wishlist

VDN, Gordon and Salmons are given their walking papers.
This team will never win deferring to inconsistent, me-first jumpshooters. How many years does it take to teach a grown man the team concept? And why the hell would you mold an offense around the least efficient shots imaginable?

didn't see it.. but score proves it.. but when you saw that .. that told it all

in playoff games every possession, every possession counts.. turnovers are magnified, and momentum shifts can and do cost a team the series.

Why aren’t any of theses guys students of the game (their profession) and know in the playoffs if you have a team down.. the key is to close them out and never give them an opportunity to revive as theses stupid Bulls have done today…

This is a bad stupid team today…

Hey, I thought of a SILVER LINING for this game:

Maybe the Bulls can hire Tom Thib. as their coach next year after firing Vinny.

No other coach really wanted the job last year since we didn’t have DRose.

Tom must be thinking that Boston has at best 1 good year left next year, and the team is old.

Why not jump ship?

PeteRoc I agree with you half way. I'm not sure about the oxy

but his game plan looks like it was designed by a moron.

If NBA Observer is out there. I really respect your knowledgeable opinions. Can you explain to us novices from what you saw…………What the hell was Vinny’s gameplan both offensively and defensively?

All other former bballers, feel free to expound. To me it looked like the Bulls were playing their first scrimmage in the summer league. 14 assists (3 by Hunter, 2 by Kirk and 1 by LInton Johnson in garbage time…they don’t count) and 16 steals by the Celtics.
It looked like the Bulls had never played together with the only one showing any resemblance to a team player was Hinrich.

Everything else was one on one, no screen rolls, no pick and pops, nothing but chaos which I lay directly at the feet of our anti-coach, who is so far over his head there seems to be no hope, unless Rose or Gordon go beserk which I doubt will happen because the Celtics have figured out how to prevent them getting any looks or penetration.

If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.

I don’t know if i can take anything good from this game. defense was bad, offense was bad, but at least we got the rebounds kinda. Our player of the game was a toss up between Kirk and BG, but nobody stood out. Like I said, they should be embarrassed to show their faces to the press tonight.

by fundamentallysound on Apr 23, 2009 9:51 PM CDT up reply actions

So you weren't really able to follow the team during the late 80s?

This is not intended as a knock on you….I know how you feel. Trust me….for anyone who was following this team closely at least as early as 87-88 when we won our first playoff series in the MJ era, there have been many days like this.

I distinctly remember feeling worse after game 4 of the ECF against the Pistons in ’89. We were coming off a thrilling, come-from-behind win in Game 3 at the old Stadium (when we had real fans there) to go up 2-1 on the Pistons, then they gut punched us on Memorial day.

by PeteRoc on Apr 23, 2009 9:58 PM CDT up reply actions

I hear you....but to put it in perspective...

As great as MJ was….that ‘87-88 team got is first playoff series win (against the Cavs) as I said, with Pip and Grant as rookies. We lost to the Pistons in the second round, then two more times to them in the ECF before finally winning. If this team has to go through that….trust me its worth it when they finally win it. That’s how you develop true, die hard fans….that’s of course until you build a new stadium and price them out of the market.

If your coach (VDN) doesn’t do anything different from the first game, its pretty easy to watch tape and develop (or improve) on your defensive strategy. Seriously….there’s not one thing of significance we’ve changed from the first game.

Is there anyone out there that still thinks we can pull out this series under the tutelage of our current coaching staff?

If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.

I didn't think we'd win the series when it first started....

but after we won that first game, my expectations changed and I thought we had a 50/50 chance. Now after this loss, I think it’s down to 10%. I don’t think we can pull it out now, we just have too many flaws and the team is too young.
