Henry Abbott, you dweeb!
Swipes at me in today's 'bullets'!:
If the Bulls shock the world and make it to the NBA Finals this year, it's possible one of their most prominent bloggers will never even get excited about it. They're heading home with an even money chance to knock off the defending champs. Matt from Blog-a-Bull is still 100% Eeyore, seeing big negatives in the Bulls, and perhaps even bigger negatives in the Celtics
If the Bulls shock the world and make it to the NBA finals this year, that means they beat the Magic and the Cavs for chrissakes. And yes, I'd be really really really excited if that happened.

The Finals?
Why is anyone talking about this team going to the freakin’ FINALS? Has Lebron suffered a season-ending injury?
Why resort to name calling?

Garnett was ruled out of the playoffs a few days before the Bulls played them
Now Dwight Howard is scratched in the eye a week before the Bulls knock off the Celtics. The cosmos don’t work overnight, give it time.

so you're saying
if we hang in there Lebron will get injured and finals here we come?

Fun little Time waster!
It's a big-picture thing.
Is Vinny Del Negro a great coach that will fully develop all the talent on this team? Likely not.
Is next year’s team as good as this year’s with out Ben Gordon next year? Likely not.
I think this team takes a big step back next year and sets its long-term success back by a year or two if Gordon goes and Del Negro stays, respectively. Winning a playoff series may slightly decrease the likelihood of the former (but not by much) but I’d say it certainly solidifies the latter.

Unless Vinny lays an egg in the playoffs
And makes the obvious call that blows a game or the series. He is already in many national sportswriters’ articles as a fallible coach. If he makes it even more obvious to the world then maybe it gets him the axe.

I can only dream.

Come on man
The “big picture” is the whole reason to be excited about this team. Minus the Ben Gordon situation this is ALL positive. And, as you just said, maybe all this winning will help that. Also, I believe not to long ago you even said yourself that winning this series would make you rethink the whole “Vinny must die” thing.

Unfortunately
The Ben Gordon situation can be a really huge situation if he has another game like he had Monday against the Celtics….or if we make it past this series…..
I sure hope Jerry opens the checkbook and just puts in on Pax to figure it out to avoid the luxury later, or minimize later…..
Ok so Vinny seems to have the X's down.....now he needs to learn the O's.
You're right. However, that was before I realized how bad the KG-less Celtics actually are.

Neither did I
But even Bill Simmons, Mr. Celtic himself, is impressed with the Bulls and thinks this series is more about the Bulls being good and on the rise than the Celtics sucking. I’m a pretty pessimistic person and even I don’t understand why the Bulls are getting so little credit around here.

gee, why would Mr. Celtic not want to say the Celtics are sucking?

Wouldn't he actually want to say the Celtics are sucking?
It makes it look like the team is just too flawed without their big guy. Why would he actually want to admit that the Bulls are on the same level as the Celtics?

Because the sports homer is a rare species
Rather than admit his team is garbage without Garnett, it’s more fun to play up that the Bulls are a mystical young team destined for great things, and this is just the beginning.
That Steve Nash is exactly the same as Kirk Hinrich, but worse.

It's one thing to "play it up", it's another thing to write a 10,000 word column on it

Not for Simmons. ;-)

I meant to add....
…and before I realized the Bulls had so much raw talent that they could overcome Del Negro’s shitty coaching to be in games down to the end.

Isn't that yet another reason to be really excited?
We went from a team that couldn’t take a shit without the coach holding the toiletpaper, to a team that can win huge playoff games with the coaching equivalent of Gilligan on the sideline.

Well, the coach will be in Chicago next year, causing me great angst....
…as a fan for at least another 13 months. I don’t look forward to that.
Last year was a wasted year.
This year was mostly wasted.
Next year will be mostly wasted as well. I don’t look forward to that.

HA just doesn't understaaaand you, YFBB
the way we do, here.
...there's some folks that, if they don't know, you can't tell 'em.
Come on Matt
You know if we beat the Celtics, then the should be Hawks, but likely Heat, then the Cavs, that you’ll be pissed at all the negatives on the team and say taht we only won THE East in spite of Paxson and VDN….
….course we can only dream that happens….
Ok so Vinny seems to have the X's down.....now he needs to learn the O's.
If the Bulls beat the Celtics, they'll likely face the Magic next. You think Perkins was able to push Noah around, wait for Dwight

OMG, a sports fan is pessimistic?

Well, I mean, if they beat the Cavs, there's still the Lakers.
So it’s not all roses at that point either. And even if we were to win the championship, Gordon’s probably not going to be here next year, so it’d be a tarnished trophy. Also, there’s the risk Rose gets some champagne in his eye, and that stings.

rose isn't even old enough to drink it, theoretically :D
