Scoop Jackson's a joke
Just finished watching a segment on ESPN First Take, and boy, Scoop Jackson is a joke. He was asked what he thought about the Bulls/Celtics series and he said he didn't think the Celtics are in trouble or need to be worried although they are going into Chicago to play two games there with the series tied. Even though the Celtics almost lost both of their games at home. Everyone with a brain, even ardent Celtics fans are worried and nervous. This guy is from Chicago? What, is he trying to impress viewers with his supposed fairness? He looks and sounds stupid.

While I generally agree that Scoop Jackson is an idiot - just read his "journalism" -
in this case, he’s right. The series is still early, and the Celtics are good enough to win a game back on the road against the Bulls and take control back of this series. Doesn’t mean they will do it, just that they are plenty good enough to do it, and to expect to do it. They need not be worried, yet.

He's a brain surgeon compared to Skip Bayless
Skip was still arguing that Michael Beasley is better than Rose, and that Beasley would have won ROY if he got the minutes Rose got. I realize that’s his gimmick, but it was still amusing.

He's probably just bitter he picked Beasley over Rose as his #1 pick...
either way, that’s just crazy talk.

Another irony
is that a big reason why people wanted the Bulls to take Beasley is because we needed “low-post scoring.”
However, Beasley only took 30% of his shot from “close,” according to 82games.com
Low post, indeed…

Skip Bayless' job is to be a contrarian on every single thing said on that show
This is a guy who maintains LeBron, Kobe, and Kevin Garnett are all overrated. The dumber and more asinine his points, the more people tune in just so they can talk about how much they hate him.
That Steve Nash is exactly the same as Kirk Hinrich, but worse.

Skip also compared Stephen Curry to Derrick Rose
by saying that Curry “actually believes in himself” as to imply Rose doesn’t. What a clown.

I actually don';t mind if ALL of the journalists will talk just like that.
Let’s kill The Celttics while there are sleeping :-)

he was pretty much right for the most part
…he just said that he didn’t think the Celtics would panic…and neither do I. Sure they almost lost both games…but so did the Bulls. So this series is pretty much dead even right now, obviously indicated by it being 1-1.
Just because he’s from Chicago and he’s not jumping around being a super homer, that doesn’t mean he’s a “joke”. He’s still supposed to show SOME sort of non-bias.

Scoop Jackson's the only one unconcerned
NormVanBeer, no one is asking Scoop to be a homer, just deal in objective reality. We’re not talking about a Kevin Garnett-led Celtics, we’re talking about a team that was lucky to even the series. The writers covering this series for the Boston papers were more realistic in their coverage and responses to what they had seen. I’m not saying that because he’s from Chicago he should be cheerleading, just not insult viewers with his nonchalance. I don’t need Scoop to tell me when I’ve seen something special. The Bulls were the story of those two games and they earned better than that “aw-shucks” reaction from a guy who is from Chicago. No need to apologize for the fact that he is from Chicago. In fact no one would call him a homer if he showed some enthusiasm for the performance of a Bulls team with its core young and inexperienced players. The Boston writers were impressed and voiced it. He sure didn’t impress anyone with his response. In fact he looked foolish.

Blah we lost by what 30?
I just think that seems like it was rubbed in quite a bit already.
Though I kinda think he pretty much just took the safe bet answer on whatever that show he was on yesterday. Cold Pizza?
But Wilbon and Scoop probably see the Bulls more often than other analysts. Also I think coming from Chicago theres a level of pessimism they already have.

come on..
…most people here watch the Bulls more than anyone on the planet. At this stage in the game, we should all have a clue as to how they may or may not perform.
Both Scoop and Wilbon said that they didn’t think the Celtics would panic…and they were both right. Too many people here are homers and want to bash someone as soon as they say the slightest negative thing…that shouldn’t be the case.

What I really meant was that to me they also see a good bit of the Bulls. And I think a lot of them hint to Vinny at times but don’t come out and say it. (Though I’m not sure if that was Scoop and Wilbons actual feelings about the Bulls or more so a Chicagoans skepticism. Its a win either way kinda)
But they also likely see Boston more as well.
I think few people predicted the Bulls would come out like that or Boston would come out flat.
Me personally I thought this could blow either way; more likely for the Celtics because their better organized but still see a good shot for the Bulls.
After this loss I still do (a bit less obviously) but it could be me being a homer. Even when/if it because 3-1 I’ll feel we can win but someone has to.

nah, I'm with you with being optimistic and everything...
…I’m the same way. Even at the start of the 4th quarter yesterday I was still hoping/thinking that we had a chance to come back (which was removed as soon as Gray entered the game). But at the same time, I don’t think people should get ripped if they aren’t as homer-ish or enthusiastic as we are. Basically, just because Joe Blow is a homer that doesn’t mean that Joe Flow has to be. Both can love the Bulls and not think the same.
A couple of the guys on CTL yesterday actually said that the Bulls would lose big yesterday…what that means, I don’t know…but they said it.

I don't blame Scoop
or Wilbon when they say those things. I’d rather them say it if anything. I don’t like us as the favorite for one and I think being skeptical pays off.
I felt we could come back until the buzzer sounded. So thats not good on my part.

See, Scoop was right. The Celtics are better and had no reason to be worried.

If anything Scoop is a homer
Scoop Jackson is constantly writing about how great Chicago is. Yes Chicago is great, but it seems like he always writes about that.
His and Wilbon’s objectiveness was wise.

Yeah, after game three he looks smart, but
I had him pegged for a fool for his column about Ben Gordon, in which he only gives Gordon enough credit as an offensive player to be considered an “enigma”.
No, not an enigma, Scoop, the best non-All-Star player in the league. This is a league where even Jamal Magloire was picked (by the coaches) for an All-Star game. Where even BJ Armstrong made a team.
Compare the Bulls’ silence on the issue to the bluster that none other than Crumbs shook with when discussing with reporters how another offense-only Bull, Jalen Rose, got passed over for an All-Star berth.
Ben Gordon’s not an “enigma”. He’s a damn good player. For all your supposed homerism, Scoop, you couldn’t see that?

The league is better now than it was when B.J. or Magloire made it, plus it's tougher to make it as a guard
because there are so many good ones in the league, but there’s a relative lack of good big man play – which explains Magloire makes an All-Star team.

My question:
How was it an anomoly when he’s been pretty consistently good in clutch situations?
