Simmons skewers Vinny/NBA coach interviews
Answer I wish Del Negro had given: "Getting off to a good start was much more important for me than the team. I'm such a basket case that my dad decided to sit on the bench with me for the playoffs. No, really -- he's right over there. If we win, he said he's going to take me out for ice cream!"

Awesome
Answer I wish Del Negro had given: “We have some ideas, but even I’m not dumb enough to tell our opponent the answer on live TV. And I’m the same guy who’s going to run out of timeouts in the first two games of the series. So that’s saying something.”

WOW. that was harsh!
This was pretty hilarious, too:
My best sarcastic question for Orlando’s Stan Van Gundy: “How are you and the rest of the adult film community recovering from the tragic death of Marilyn Chambers last week?”

Simmons has a point
these coach interviews are nearly always completely worthless.

almost as worthless as that article was. it wasn't really all that funny and added nothing to the conversation
he’s been killing those sideline interviews for years. Did he really need to dedicate a column to it? Not one of his better pieces in my book, and I’m a big, big fan.
Fire Vinny.

That was great
I really like Bill Simmons, he’s funny and mostly gets it too.
I do actually oddly like the coaching segments (mainly I guess cuz it’s refreshing to see the coaches analyze instead of Barkley or mostly instead of the constant Funk-King “I have my idea that this guy’s good on our team, and this guy (BG) is bad unless he hits the shot, where it’s don’t do it like that BG”…
But really I do oddly enjoy the little 20 second blurbs.
Ok so Vinny seems to have the X's down.....now he needs to learn the O's.
