Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

One thing I do know. I'm adding Joakim Noah to the list of players that I simply don't like seeing on the basketball court. Nobody wants to be called a "hater" but I guess you could label it that if you want. Here's Noah in a nutshell to me: Take KG and all his antics and most of his energy. Remove almost all of the talent and beat him senseless with an ugly stick. That's Noah (and that might be giving him too much credit). Also on my list: Bibby, Varejao, Sasha, and the Pistons. Kobe has a whole category of his own.

Why the heck did Noah get t'd up for that block on Perkins?

Noah fouled him and then did what the Celtics do all the time. He stopped Perkins from getting up his and1 attempt.

The Celtics fouled twice an ungodly amount of times last year knowing you can’t be whistled for a foul after they’ve already whisted you for a foul.

it was unclear to me as well

my seat was behind the other basket so noah and perkins were pretty much as far as they could be from me on that play. i had good seats but that type of thing is still hard to see when you’re the court’s length away.

however, he seemed to get really angry and gordon had to like physically restrain him, which i believe happened just before the T, maybe not, i didn’t see exactly when it was called. i think perkins probably said some shit to him that set him off.

If anything Perkins was

gesturing like Ali or somebody. Noah never said a word.

by Camry on Apr 21, 2009 1:44 PM CDT up reply actions

noah def did say something

cause right after the block he almost started going after perkins. again, couldn’t see from my side what exactly happened though.

OT - How did the fans treat you?

Did they give you a lot of shit? Was it just fun ribbing or more vicious?

the place was loud (and pretty annoying at times)

but no one actually bothered me. there was a dude sitting a few rows in front of me also obviously cheering for the bulls, and it wasn’t until after gordon’s 2nd three did i catch his eye, and we started yelling together, which was pretty cool. but at least where we were no one gave us shit for being bulls fans.

Had to be a great game to be at

Good to hear they had a little class

by Juiceboxjerry on Apr 21, 2009 3:29 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah, i wish i had been at game 1

cause they won and i would have loved to see rose put on a show, but i couldn’t go to that one. the ben gordon show is almost equally good though. ;)

they may have had a little class towards me, not buggin me at all, but they were shouting “noah sucks”. ;) some of the people around me were kind of annoying, but it wasn’t directed at me or anything… i probably would have thought they were equally annoying even if i were cheering for the same team as them haha.

however i do have to say – the garden’s theatrics are LAME compared to the UC’s. they have a crappy intro (gotta love the bulls running through the city) and overall are just not that engaging during TO’s and such.

Maybe right when he blocked it

because then Noah never opened his mouth on the replay. On either the TNT or Comcast feed.
Stacy and Neil (though they may not be creditable in this forum) admitted he didn’t say anything.

I was actually surprised to see that

Gordon looks like he got more vocal in that game and took a leadership role

by Camry on Apr 21, 2009 2:09 PM CDT up reply actions

Gordon's just analytical.

Fewer points by the other team = better chance the Bulls win = more games to shoot the ball = better chances to get PAID!!!

hahahaa

It looked like

Noah’s aggravation was stemmed at Perkins…..the replay showed it wasn’t, it was just Noah being Noah, and Perkins reacted poorly, but the initial look seemed to show otherwise. I think Noah was shocked by it because he had no intention of doing anything there……

But I will say with the initial before the replay view it looked like he was looking to start something (probably because his crazy hair flowed towards Perkins and was coupled with Noah getting mad at himself for the foul)…..

On the replay it was more clear that Noah did nothing. But by the time the ref could have rethought the call he already had made the T and certainaly wasn’t going to renege it…..esp when Noah then got visibly upset at the ref.

Ok so Vinny seems to have the X's down.....now he needs to learn the O's.

by majoyenrac on Apr 21, 2009 3:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah

And to say Noah has no talent is ridiculous. Noah is all energy, but he has some real talent (shot blocking, passing, and just a keen IQ sense). He’s not a remarkable talent, but does a lot with what he’s been given and is pretty athletic.

This Weinman guy should really change his post and replace Noah with Perkins, Glen “Big Baby” Davis, Brian Scalabrine, modern day Stephon Marbury…..etc. Noah’s not dirty at all either….no reason to hate on him.

Ok so Vinny seems to have the X's down.....now he needs to learn the O's.

So...he sounds like

he doesn’t like weird looking people. What great player analysis there. Most people get over that kind of prejudice in grade school. News flash - Noah has weird hair! What quality insights from the Celtics fans.

Why is Barkley and Celtics fans

overacting about the attention that Rose got.
Yes he took over game 1. Barkley denies it and yeah he could stop Rondo but obviously Rondo couldn’t stop him. Barkley never mentioned it.
Then it was because they were playing bad? How does he explain the results of the last 4 games. And when the Spurs blew out the Mavs that was all credit to the Spurs and not the Mavs playing bad at all.
Good times.

by Camry on Apr 21, 2009 1:53 PM CDT reply actions

Barkley is stupid why even question what he says?

Remind yourself he’s a dumbass when he talks. He judges not but reality but by his own little word of teams he likes or dislikes.

going into Bulls playoff lock down..now!

by SoulEater7 on Apr 21, 2009 3:50 PM CDT up reply actions

I just never saw him

this bent on putting his message out there. He went back to it a trillion times trying to discredit Rose for some reason.
And talking about a Rose bandwagon I was just surprised.

by Camry on Apr 21, 2009 7:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah

I mean I could see it if Rose right immediately after the game did a Marbury thing and said I’m the greatest PG in the league, or something of that magnitude….but just after the game all he said was humbly that Rondo is very good, very good and he’s been a big fan….

I don’t get it at all….especially when if anything it seems the media’s been trying it’s damndest to find ways or excuses to not vote Derrick for ROY…..all season long. I mean remember when before the Bulls secured the draft it was a 2 man race for top pick…..and then when we selected Rose it was that either he or Beasley will be the superstars of this draft….then suddenly we draft Rose, he has the tendinitis in summer camp, and now he won’t be in any top 5 rookie lists coming into the year this year and while he might be the best player in 5 years might not be ready.

I don’t get the Bulls hate. MJ’s been gone for a long time now, plus we’re a pretty popular team still accross the country (fans have their hometown team and then many will say they also like the Bulls)….

We play hard, we’re young, we’re athletic, we’re quick, we play a lot of the run and gun style with defense….I don’t get all the hate….our guys also aren’t very brash either…well maybe sans Noah, but Noah’s not even as bad as made out to be.

Ok so Vinny seems to have the X's down.....now he needs to learn the O's.

Two more guys that r really annoying:

1: jj barea : how’s that guy get into the land??
2: louis amunsen: too muchenergy. And just annoying.

All of these guys have 2 things in common: bad hair, tons of energy

They barely played before this season. Is it because they overplayed their abilities?

You might ask

Zaza, or Wally, or women and children with court side seats if Noah truly compares to Garnett in the “antics” department.

Ridiculous. And from the team of Danny Ainge, no less! Besides, Noah can’t flop like Varejao, make a screwface like Bibby, whine like Vujacic (assuming he’s not referring here to Pavlovic), or win like the Pistons. Wait. Might have to strike that last one!

I hope every time he pushes Noah in the back in out homecourt it's called for a foul

he’d be kicked out approximately 4 minutes into the game :D

Michael Holley (WEEI and former Trib washout)

Was on WSCR this morning, and unprovoked went on about how much Noah annoys him. Which is strange coming from someone who could also be classified as having bad hair.

I'm not the one who wrote that

Here’s what I said about Noah (after Game 2):

He still needs to get a bit smarter about certain things on the court (the foul on Pierce at the end of Game 1 and the technical he picked up in Game 2 come to mind), but I’d take a guy like Joakim Noah on my team any day.

I’m sure this wasn’t intentional, but it’s clearly not my name atop that piece – and I’d appreciate not being misquoted.

I can understand being angry at Noah if you're not a fan of his team.

He’s just too good! :P
