I will re-think my opinions on Del Negro if the Bulls pull off this upset.

Even though I think a good coach would have had them at a 4-seed, and a Garnett-less Celtics isn’t anything more than a middle-of-the-road EC team… this Bulls team isn’t that good, so I’ll take it.

by Khalid El-Amin on Apr 18, 2009 12:51 PM CDT up reply actions

Exactly. They're winning, have looked good doing, seem to have a plan and are executing it.

My only worry is that Rivers intentionally concentrated on getting Rondo and Perkins involved early thinking they’d still be close at half-time, and then will go to Pierce and Allen this half.

At least, that’s what I thought. But they’ve taken 11 shots, and that’s not “nothing.” i just don’t see how they’ve done so poorly with Gordon and a hobbled Salmons guarding them.

Viva la nuance! Reading comprehension rules!!!

by tyger1147 on Apr 18, 2009 12:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Pierce really isn't forcing the issue, Allen is playing poorly so far

I’m scared of Pierce because he doesn’t need to get his jumpshot going, because he draws fouls so well. The Bulls aren’t going to look good if the pace slows down, because they’re not shooting well.

Boston has yet

to figure out the Bulls don’t defend P’n’R! Yeah, they want to trap/show hard on Pierce and Allen, but those guys aren’t trapped as easily as BG, for example. And the other guys can go to the basket a bit, especially Rondo.

Pierce and Allen have been about as effective as Deng has for the Bulls. Look for it to change in the 2nd.

The C's also don't run the pick and roll as much without Garnett because their other guys can't shoot

the pick and pop shot, and they don’t roll to the basket that well. Perkins wants to operate under the hoop, same with Powe. BBD wants to shoot pick and pop jumpers, but fortunately for the Bulls, that’s what we want him to do, too, cause he’s not that good of a shooter.

I know.

I’m sayin’ it’s gonna have to change! Also, their transition D has been terrible, and that’s mostly effort. No way should the Bulls have as many transition scores after Celts’ made baskets.

Of course,

Brad Miller has been pretty much asleep for us. Salmons looks like he’s not gonna be much help on offense either. He’s not really looking for the 3. But still a good game defensively, so far.

Not if you're not goaltending.

You shouldn’t expect the referees to make bad calls. I mean, they will, but a player shouldn’t change his game to adapt to those types of calls.

I agree it wasn't goal tending....just frustrated that they got 2 free points on a crazy shot attempt

I mean, it's a low-percentage shot, yeah.

But if you’re certain it’s not a goaltend, you’d like to think that the percentage of blown calls by the refs are even less.
