I dunno. maybe tonight. I owe Skeets a playoff preview as well.
Besides, I’m not really that disappointed over tonight. It’s not fair to be as I was never that excited about the wins. They’re more or less the same team, just shot worse.

Absolutely agree with that last statement.
They’re more or less the same team, just shot worse.
When the team has quarters like today’s first quarter, it seems there are some things that could help. I can think of a couple right off the top: (1) a methodical offensive game plan that you execute relentlessly, or (2) a master motivator as coach.
Sadly, the Bulls have neither of these things. Which is what we’ve been saying is the problem with Vinny for a while now.
I kept remembering how the Chairman called his team “a disaster”, which led to the turnaround. Maybe he should have walked down to the bench / into the locker room and called them a disaster during this game. That would have motivated them.
But that’s not actually the Chairman’s job. It’s Vinny’s.

Yeah, VDN just doesn't get it.
Did you catch his post game interview with the media? It was the same as always. He never answers a question. Before it pissed me off because I thought he might know the answer, but was the type of “coach” that wanted to protect their guys or whatever and never wanted to say anything bad in public. But it was painfully obvious tonight that he just doesn’t have an answer. I’m thinking specifically right now to the question he was asked about why the team came out so flat tonight. He flat out had no idea and said as much. He then threw out about four stock answers such as, maybe it was a let down after a big win or maybe we thought we could coast at home. HELLO? McFly? It’s your job as coach to make sure these things don’t happen. It’s your FREAKIN’ job to make sure the team is ready to play! I just don’t understand why we would hang onto Vinny when there is no WAY IN HELL he is going to be with this team long term. My only thought as to why (besides not wanting to pay both Skiles and VDN to not coach) we aren’t getting a real coach is that they think VDN is better at developing the younger guys than a vet who would be immediately in must win now mode. But then Paxson should be demanding that he not play Brad for 30+ mins a game. Or Tim 20. He should be demanding that the real TT get 30-35 mins a game. It can’t just be the players, because we have a lot of different guys then two years ago. It’s the coaching staffs job to at least get them ready to compete.
Real coaches cost more than JR wants to pay.
No guarantee that any coach without NBA head coaching experience will be better than VDN.

Marion is a loser who hates the fact that his team is losing,
pouts a lot and has an overinflated sense of self-worth.
But once in a while, he can play like an All-Star.
This was the classic trap game, if you think about it. The Bulls were preoccupied with other things and looking past this game; Toronto’s a bad team playing loose, and plus they’re actually better than their record…

that even though i thought orlando was the better matchup, after the bulls lost i kinda didn’t care that much if the cavs lost, partially because i didn’t want to see them tie the best home record.

San Antonio beat New Orleans, and Dallas beat Houston. So the West matchups are set:
1. Lakers vs. 8. Jazz
2. Nuggets vs. 7. Hornets
3. Spurs vs. 6. Mavs
Blazers vs. Rockets (Blazers get home court if they beat Denver tonight. If not, Houston does.)

A few weeks ago, it looked like they might miss the playoffs, or be the 8 seed at best and get crushed by L.A. Now, they’ve moved up to 6, and get to play a Spurs team without Ginobili. They might even get to win a round now.

there's a real easy way to shut celts fans up
ask them where they were from 2003-2007. i went to school out there in that time span and found tickets were incredibly easy to get , the building was half empty, and no one cared about them. of my friends, maybe 1 or 2 were true celts fans. last year, they all mysteriously came out of the woodwork and claimed to be lifelong celts fans.
and also remember that bill simmons claimed that kg saved basketball in boston last year. real nice fanbase when 3 years after winning the division and after winning 16 titles that basketball needed saving in boston.
i went to school here and still live here
and i went to see bulls vs celts the year before they got kg, and we got 1st level seats in the “family pack” for like 30 bucks each or some insanely cheap price.
"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"
yup
i went to several games there that year and the place was dead. and dont let anyone fool you by saying “oh we havent been relevant since the late 80s.” they won their fucking division in 05 and were in the conference finals in 02. try having one playoff series win in 11 years and then come talk to me about relevance
Celts had one or two good years with Pierce & Antoine Walker...until
it was obvious that Walker (who played center) loved to jack 3s just way too much, and Ainge traded him away.
I remember they had an incredible playoff victory with Pierce playing really well one series…but that was the team peaking.

I commented earlier today that I wasn't enamored of the Magic matchup
that said – I’m not thrilled about the prospect of matching up against the Celtics.
Rose is our most important take-over player on offense and Rondo just happens to be the best PG defender in the game today, and Rondo is very, very good on the pick and roll game – which remains Derrick’s biggest weakness on defense. The Celtics set great screens, so Derrick is going to struggle to stay in front of Rondo. Rondo is just as quick as Rose, and when Derrick is moving laterally and trying to stay in front, especially after getting screened by the C’s bigs… it could get ugly for Derrick.
Gordon needs to be great for us to win games against the Celtics. Ray Allen is going to absolutely abuse him when Ben is on defense, and he should be able to alter Ben’s shots just by way of his height. Ben will be forced to drive more than he likes, and driving into the teeth of that Celtics defense is not going to fun for Ben…at all.
Salmons doesn’t look right lately with the groin injury and Pierce is a great post-season player and is the second best SF in the league (behind only LeBron)… so I’m not thinking very positively about that matchup.
KG appears to get into Tyrus’s head (see: 2-17 shooting game at the start of the season).
Noah should be a solid matchup with Perkins.
Tom Thibodeau’s defensive schemes against Vinny’s “offense” should be quite a site to behold.
This is going to be very, very ugly.
Fire Vinny.

Salmon’s the new guy that makes the Bull’s offense hard to stop over last couple months…he’s not the same player with his groin injury….thus Celtics will be playing a much weaker Bulls offense, and that’s a recipe for four and out.
Actually worried a Bulls player or two is going to come out of this series with a bad injury…Celts will be viciously hacking as per usual, and they have the pounds inside to do damage to lighter Bulls…

VDN is going to need excuses, you got that right...
Nothing like a boring blowout, or two, or three in the playoffs, for the national press to go looking for a story.
Here’s hoping that VDN is in the negative spotlight, and becomes radioactive for camp 09….
Salmon's excuse value
Is only good for one blowout…
But your’e right, the meaning of the playoffs now is partly simple experience, and partly how it affects Gordon signing/ lack thereof. Since Salmon is likely to play but look like shit, it might diminish PR value of BULLs front office saying Salmon’s can take Ben’s SG spot, with Deng coming back at SF. Which is what they are going to say.
And of course, despite our whining, VDN will be back unless he bites a ref or trips Rondo running by.
If things get out of hand, Miller might hurt KG and bye-bye championship defense
(but the Bulls still lose in 5).

Without KG, I think we can beat them
Or at least go to 7 games. We can take all the home games.
Could and will are two different things.
Rose hasn’t looked that good against the Celtics this year. Their defense has shut him down mostly. We could play well at home, but I don’t think at this point we even win all our home games. I’d be happy with 1 or 2 wins, experience for Rose, TT and Noah and playing hard/showing some promise.
If KG's been fine and resting this whole time, Doc Rivers needs to call Bill Belichick and thank him
for bringing deception and subterfuge back to pro sports.

Politics say, “we need a girl and you’re the best girl, even though you suck. So get out there and show the world we value women!” So yeah, there is much sucking to come.
Plus, marionette, I believe is referring to the preferential treatment that superstars/all-stars get. That does get worse in the playoffs. Stars get more calls. And the Celtics have four All-Stars and we have ZERO. Yeah, it’s gonna be a long series (for us as Bulls fans that is, because I don’t think it is actually going to be that long of a series).
Lakers beat better Kings team with one-sided officiating -'nuff said.
How much worse could it possibly get?
Maybe we can?

Pistons just put AI on the playoff roster
hmmmm
It's tough to be around competitive situations . . . but I've been able to manage. I've been able to survive. (GOAT)
This is way off topic but...
i think you gotta have a gamethread for every quarter for the playoffs, i mean look at the recent gamethreads….when i first start posting on this site i think usually a gamethread (an entire game at that) would be at the most 170 posts. Now a single half easily gets 3-400 comments….ESPECIALLY the overflow thread (which has everyones swears and vinny suck chants all in seperate posts)…..
On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!
I agree.
I blame Vinny’s suckage.

I hope the Bulls win at least one game, preferably a home game.
I can fool myself into believing that it shows progress, as a team, for a better season next year.
this is now about firing VDN not the playoffs.
sadly even a sweep might not get her done. ( Firing VDN)
Brad Miller's pump fake is still not on the scouting report?
That's a pipe dream
There is no on-court event that could happen in the playoffs that wsill make Pax fire VDN.
Now if some one can get him liquored up with some “escorts”….
"I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany." - Ron Burgundy
Here's an even more horrendous thought.
What if by some miracle, the Bulls take the Celts to 7 games like last year’s Hawks and Jerry is so impressed he tacks on another 3 year extension to Vinny’s low ball contract..
If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.

What if they make the Finals, and they sign Brad Miller and Aaron Gray to 100 million dollar contracts
Promote Kirk to player/GM, Paxson to Team Fuhrer, Steve Schanwald runs for Mayor, and Jerry Reinsdorf builds an intergalactic death machine?
That Steve Nash is exactly the same as Kirk Hinrich, but worse.

Good luck, Bulls fans
Here’s hoping Unstoppable John Salmons doesn’t dominate us ala that St. Patrick’s Day mess.

Manuel Aristides Ramirez is the greatest hitter I've ever seen.
Abounding hitters, no clue about the pitching staff: Beware the Bizarro Dodgers!
