Just as injuries make the Magic mere mortals, the Bulls choke. The winner of this game will likely bypass the Cavs and Celtics.

Great defense by our guards. Detroit’s back court only hit 14 of 23, 2 of 3 3ptrs, 3 of 3 foul shots, had 8 rebounds and 9 assists to go along with 2 steals. Meanwhile, their SF Prince was 5 of 5 in FG’s and converted all 4 of his FT’s.

Now if Vinny only knew how to teach defense they could pull this one out.

If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.

Man

Prince has Salmon’s number. He’s just too skilled and too tall for Salmons to deal with offensively or defensively.

by runningman on Apr 13, 2009 8:23 PM CDT reply actions

yeah, it's a terrible matchup for him

"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"

by Jaina on Apr 13, 2009 8:23 PM CDT up reply actions

It's more than that

Jaina. This is why Salmons is a better 2 than he is a 3. Playoffs are here, and the good teams force post ups on your defensive mismatches.

Is Salmons gonna guard LBJ or Pierce? He’ll have trouble with the 6’10" Magic guys too. Even out on the perimeter, it’s common sense.

I am glad Miller and Tyrus got a little emotional about our ref problems. The complaining might help us out in the future. Have to stir things up to get them to call fouls. With all of those T’s they will probably have to review the game and hopefully someone with a brain will decide Rose should get better treatment at least. It is like having a nagging mom or something. You eventually tune it out. When your quiet mom flips out you noticed. I felt like there might have been enough unusual noise tonight that people might notice. Millers is a veteran at least. You’d hope that they noticed that. The Bulls showed a lot more emotion than usual tonight and it wasn’t the roll over and play dead kind.

you’re right, varejao barely flinches. i mean, he clearly threw allen to the ground, and allen clearly purposefully threw the elbow back at him – whether he meant to hit him in the groin or just hit him, who knows (he wasn’t even looking at him), but he hardly moved…

also, as much as the refs screwed the Bulls in this game

we have to give it up for them kicking Brad out of the game. He was killing us all game. 30 minutes, 10 points, 2 boards and 6 turnovers (!). That’s just terrible effort out of Brad. Tyrus got forced back into the game, and lo and behold the Pistons didn’t score at all to end the game.

The refs saved Vinny’s ass in the end.

his defense was also not that great. it never really is. he does well one on one on the block,

His stats were very good, even if they don't capture everything he did on the defensive end.

11 points on 6 shots, 13 rebs, 4 assists, 0 turnovers, and a block in 36 minutes in a low possession game (just 88) is a fine, fine effort.

Throw in his great job on showing and hedging on pick and rolls and that was the perfect Joakim Noah game.

Fire Vinny.

the thing about this post is that

I haven’t read this much excitement since we somehow got the number one pick this past summer.

at that time, as many of you will recall, we had Rose not hitting his mid jumpers, Gordon maybe or maybe not playing better with a second scoring option in the mix and hoping Tyrus and Noah would finally get some real playing time.

Since then, we’ve gone thru a rookie coach making many mistakes (even though the injuries showed him, he can learn to appreciate who WE think his better players are after watching them), Rose developing exponentially throughout the year, Gordon learning to play without having 10 guys defending him at the end of the game. Noah and Tyrus learning from a 50 year old how to pass and go up for a dunk. and Paxson proving (to me at least) that he is a master negotiator. Vinnie has also turned a pick and pop team into a high scoring running and (at least as of tonight) a crunch time defensive team.

I think the trade gave us true upgrades at the center and forward positions and has shown our young guys how to finish around the rim.

this game shows me that we are becoming a much better team as each of young players is learning from Rose, Fish and Miller

Paxson

Has redeemed himself quite a bit this year with the salmons/miller accquisition. What he has to do now is find a way to turn some combination of hinrich/deng/tyrus thomas/miller/ for a big that can put up 20 points nightly. If not stoudemire/bosh then start exploring possibilities like boozer. sign Gortat as our center and have him share time with Noah along with a scoring Pf and this team will be dynamite if they VDN shows he can coach and the bulls show they can play defense.

Good feelings these days though.
