Portland and Chicago Trade-off
Now that a lot of people have noticed how good the bulls really are, we start getting a little attention and things start going good for us, just like every April. Who knows, Chicago could host the 2016 olympics. It could be called Da'Gamez if people knew about it a little more.
Remember when everyone was getting so pissed off the year we drafted Tyrus? Well what do you expect? He was a freshman straight out of LSU. He had versatility, and a striving force that helped him out. And who did we switch our draft picks for? A guy named Lamarcus Aldridge. He is still a great player, but he also took some time in college to perfect his game a little bit more. This guy also reminds me of a big tall guy named Sam Bowie. Ever heard of him? Yup, another Portland guy.
But do you remember who we got for Sam Bowie?

I agree
Tyrus Thomas is closer to Michael Jordan than he is to LaMarcus Aldridge.
That Steve Nash is exactly the same as Kirk Hinrich, but worse.
by NBA Observer on Apr 8, 2009 12:23 PM CDT
Do you think Tyrus or LaMarcus is more likely
to play in Da’Gamez?

Hehe
as a Portland fan, I find this hilarious. You do realize that Bowie and Aldridge are about as comparable as Amare Stoudemire and Earl Boykins, right? Bowie was hurt, with broken leg issues. Aldridge is a young big man with no history of injuries.
Also, Tyrus is nothing like MJ. He’s a good NBA player, not the best ever.

Yeah, the Bowie-MJ comparison (on a lesser scale)
is much more apt with Oden-Durant.
They passed on the ridiculously competition scorer with all the talent in the world for the big stiff with legs that were different lengths all because of the maxim that you “can’t teach height”

Don’t you know Blazers fans own the Internet?

I welcome the hornet's nest. I got to cheer for Jordan through his whole career, when was the last time the Blazers won anything?
I’m delighted that they passed on Durant for Oden. It means I can better enjoy Durant’s career, if he had gone to Portland, I wouldn’t want to cheer for him because Blazer’s fans can be so obnoxious.

duck for cover!
Asked what kind of player he expects to be in the next five years, he said: "Not a star, but like, a superstar. Something around, like, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, something like that."

what do u mean by
who we got for Sam Bowie?
I dont think we traded Bowie for Jordan.. The 2 scenarios arent really compareable in this aspect and many others

You just blew my mind
"Whenever Kirk/Ben are in together. Kirk turns into a crappy player, because he tries to freeze Gordon out of the offense." - Andrew7
But Tyrus Thomas hit 14 of 14 free throws yesterday.
And the last player who did it before was…Jordan :-)
Just saying…: -)

any bulls to do it since jordan though?
that i could believe.
"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"
Yeah, he screwed up the stat. Jordan was the last Bull to go at least 14 of 14 from the line.

It was a joke guys!
Wow, sometimes I’m amazed at how quick everyone is to stone people on here. It’s a blog. People respond quickly in response and sometimes they forget to add Bulls player. That’s what he meant. A simple post stating that your sure he meant Bulls player and not any player would have sufficed. As Billy Madison says – “Ah, OK. A simple ‘wrong answer’ would have been fine.”

I wasn't trying to rag on him by saying "screwed up" I was just pointing out the error.
It’s easy to mess up. I do it a lot. It’s still pretty neat that Tyrus got to the line 14 times and it didn’t even seem strange. When he’s attacking like that, I’m happy.

I was mostly referring to Nittany specifically, but also in general, but not really to you.

You can’t let anything go. All I’m saying is lighten up everybody, just a little, just a little… that’s it, that’s it… there ya go, there ya go.
Thank you,for clearing things up.
I skrewed up couple of my posts lately.
Forgetting to add such important words like “bulls” to " player" and “rebounds” to “offensive/defernsive”.
I gotta be more accurate when posting cos’ that already caused few unnecessery comments in here.

read the title
And thought that there were rumors again that chicago will trade hinrich once in for all to portland or maybe even deng. instead this zany thread popped up.
A good thing about tyrus developing at a not so rapid pace, is that maybe when his rookie contract is done, JR won’t have to pay him 10 million plus to keep him because he might still be “unproven” or “unpolished” in many aspects.
As a loyal fan of TT, admitting to being somewhat biased, I still think Tyrus is head and shoulders above MJ talent wise.
But………………I’m not sure which MJ you’re referring to, Marko Jaric of the Grizzlies or the Wizards Micheal James. In either case, I would still choose Thomas over either of them.
And if you were talking about Jordan, I would still want Tyrus. Even though DeAndre Jordan of the Clippers is 6’ 11" and oly 20 years old, I’m not impressed with his Free throw % for the season of .394, especially with TT going 14 for 14 last night.
And by the way, if it came down to Aldridge and Thomas, I say Portland can keep their prize draft pick. Someday they’re going to regret that trade as much as they will not taking Durant, the next young superstar followed by Derrick Rose.

I don't want to be nitpicky but I should have said "pick" and not trade referring to the Greg Oden, Kevin Durant reference.
Did I mention Durant is averaging 25.7 pts./6.5 boards/1.23 steals and 2.8 assists per game while Oden is scoring at an 8.8 clip, with 7 boards and 1.16 blocks per game?. But he is taller.

He also won in HORSE. Pardon me: GEICO
Even as a Blazers fan and proud Odensheeple, I fear Oden will never be able to win this awesome award. Only more valuable ones.

Greg Oden = Robert Parish (HOF, 4x NBA champion, 9x NBA All-Star). The only other rookie with more than 500 points, 400 rebounds, and 65 blocks in under 1400 minutes played. Since 1946.

Maybe he'll win a Daytime Emmy
Or he can co-host the Ellen show during his rehab stints, give his paychecks to Pritchard so he can sign Kwame Brown.

And the corpse of Robert Parrish. Portland was Krauslapped.

Wow, you can even merge the name and word. I think this makes the term better.

It's funny
Jordan is the greatest player ever, but Chicago the city has become pretty much an afterthought in the NBA. How come nobody mentions Chicago in the same breath as LA-Boston when they talk about past dynasties? I ‘m not saying this to discredit the Bulls dominance in the 90’s, but it just seems like sports in LA and Boston gets a lot more national attention than Chicago sports. Heck NYC gobbled up most of the headlines in this past offeason just for thinking about signing LeBron in 2010. Do you bulls fan ever get a sense of an inferiority complex when considering the attention lavished on franchises in LA, Boston and NY?
BTW, the only reason this is relevant to me is that you guys constantly make references to Portland players and are constantly bashing our guys. Now LMA I can understand given your loyalty to TT, but why the focused hatred of Oden? He may never be anything more than a Tyson Chandler in the NBA, but why does what he become affect you? I just wonder if maybe you guys see a reflection of some kind of subtle, big city vs big city inferiority complex in the obvious, palpable inferiority complex exhibited by many Portland fans (including myself).
We don't dislike Oden,
just Blazers’ fans who over-rate him.
but why the focused hatred of Oden?
Maybe we can?
