Around SBN: 2012 Budweiser Shootout Entry List Released

Ill be honest, my discovery of this site came after i read a recent comment from tyger which, well...pissed me off. At any rate im glad i found this site and decided to share this...Im not much of a stat guy (and any possible love for stats seems to be dying at a high rate recently) but this site intrigues me. It takes A players seasons numbers, translates them into per 40, then gives the players a grade for those stats. It then generates text for each grade giving you a synthetic scouting report like one that can be found in the 2k games (if you ever checked the vip system).

Of course its not totally accurate but at the least its intresting and i thought it was kind of innovative, for a newb like me its kind of cool so though more veteran stat users might find it childish, the more casual stat watcher might find it neat.

Anyway i still thought i should share it, i linked to the chicago bulls roster but it has the entire nba.

Thanks for the site

Pretty cool….

Though I loved in Noah’s report they said he has outstanding strength…..LOL.

He’s athletic, but isn’t strong enough yet.

3-31-09: The date when the last relative Vinny supporter knows he NEEDS to be canned. Fire Vinny, Fire Bickerstaff, hire a new head coach and keep Del Harris as the head assistant. Jerry, a player with Rose's skills and upside don't come around often.

Yeah

That was hilarious…..Gordon’s a freak as far as how strong he is….he’s short, but he’s a tank.

And they said Noah had outstanding post up

I kind of don’t see why they put in some of these grades that don’t really apply to some positions.

I'm guessing it's fantasy related?

That’s about the only reason I can think of for rating shot attempts independently of shooting percentage. Who the heck gets excited about a player who rates an A+ for shot attempts, but not for shots made or shooting percentage? And in fantasy it can matter to get that center who rates a C for assists over the one that rates a D-.

I always think stuff like this is fun to read, though, even if it just ends up being to list all the reasons I disagree.

Man-slave, bring me my PB&J!

it says Drose is a good perimeter defender.

"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"

Hmmmm

I dunno I do think Gordon is average defensively looking at a lot of SGs in the league.

I think Rose has the ability to pretty much be a good defender. But sometimes its team defense and screens thats getting him in trouble. Early in the season I thought he did a better job but then Andre Miller started doing his pump fake and for a stretch it seemed like Rose was timid.

Not saying its right of course

Hmmmm…. these guys are dead wrong on a few things here now that I got to reading it.

by Camry on Apr 1, 2009 1:17 PM CDT up reply actions

I dont think its guys

i believe its just generated by some program that spits out information fitting some template. Like noah having a good post game, i think that it basically takes the ammount of shots he scores in the paint, with how many shots he takes in the paint, and then gives you what that “could” mean.

I just thought it was pretty cool, almost fun, so i wanted to share it….

On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!

Thats what I was wondering about

Some of it kinda seems like what I wish would happen. And others a horrible nightmare.

If it was Hollinger's site

He’d be out there christening Pops Mensa Bonsu for MVP.

It also said

Pops Mensa Bonsu is a superstar player…..hmm is he available?

Even though some of it's off base

I did like the analysis for the most part…..though.

Oh wow!

I read that as “average on the perimeter offensively” and thought Andrew was debunking the website. Heh.
That site really rips our PG’s, though. Rose is a good role player – Hinrich is a solid rotation player. Ouch.
Then again, Joakim Noah’s got those nifty post moves. :P

Joakim Noah: Better than you.
