3 Point Shooting

Some rambling thoughts after watching the last few games....

I am not a stat head like some of you here (would like to hear your take), but there seems to be a big drop in the long range game since the trades.  The only concern I really had about getting rid of Noc was losing the long distance game.  Without Noc ,BG and Kirk would be the only 3 point threats on the team.

Now, with some great acquistions, we lost a lot of dead weight in Hughes and Goo_en.  We gained three good long range shooters in TiT, Salmons, and Miller (not sure you want Brad shooting too many out there, but he can make them) who are all averaging near or better than 40% for the long ball on the year.  With these additions it seems to me that should be a bigger part of the offensive scheme  (If Vinny even has one)

Not relying on jump shots would be a good change, but utiliizing the 3 point threats that are here would open up the floor for easier buckets inside.

This year all together

I haven’t seen many 3pt shots or anyone taking the charge. It’s just jump shot after jump shot.

Without order there is chaos.

Rethinking

a few things here….
Vinny is an idiot and we need a new coach before D Rose is ruined.

since D Rose

Is not a great 3pt shooter, I would expect him to cut to the hole a bit and create 3 pt shots for his teammates. There are quite a few options for shooters as you mentioned above.

I don’t know. It does seem lacking — I’m sure a stat man will chime in soon…

i've noticed this as well

but i don’t know whether it’s really decreased a lot since the trades or whether the whole season has been like this. it seems like the other team has really been shooting way more 3s than us… for example, ron artest practically took more 3’s than the entire bulls team (12 to 14).

The Bulls have taken an uncomfortable amount of long 2pters this season

I’m looking at nba.com’s Hot Spots, and it’s saying that 1509 of our 5081 shots this year (29.6% ) have come from long 2pt distance, and we’re hitting just 41.2% of them.

Cleveland’s taken 1200 of 4613 shots from that range (26.0% ) and have hit at 42.1% .
Boston’s taken 1016 of 4698 shots from that range (21.6% ) and have hit at 43.9% .
Houston, who’s known for their statistical analysis, has taken 786 of 4860 shots from that range (16.1% ) and have hit at 38.5% .

it is really uncomfortable since it is statistically-speaking the worst possible shot in basketball

the reason it’s the “lost art of the mid-range jump shot” is because it’s the most inefficient manner to score in. Either take it to the bucket and get an easy basket or fouled, OR shoot a three pointer. Enough of this mid-range jumper non-sense (I’m looking at you, Luol).

I want nothing but dunks and 3 pointers

Everything else is for douchebags.

Confusion breeds success. If they don't know each other, opponents can't have strategy. GENIUS.
