by cranscape on Mar 26, 2009 9:18 PM CDT up reply actions

The problem for Deng is that Gordon will probably outshine him in the European Championship this summer.

Gordon is money from midrange, and NBA midrange = the European three pointer. Gordon could be taking money, fadeaway threes this summer, just like at Mount Vernon.

Will Gordon play

if he doesn’t have a contract yet?

I doubt it. There was one guy that got injured while off contract a few years back, and since then almost no one does it.

by runningman on Mar 26, 2009 9:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Last year I was really hoping Deng would at least learn

leadership skills playing with GB as the big guy, but nothing seemed to come from it besides fatigue. It doesn’t seem to translate back to NBA skills. I don’t think the competition is very good for him to play off of. They have Ben and Deng and then the giant drop of on talent on their own team. And the competition is spotty too.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

by simonswiss on Mar 26, 2009 9:17 PM CDT reply actions

Why would Deng star?

He’s been awful this year. Gordon has been the Bulls best player all year, and Salmons since coming here. It’s not a tough decision.

You can’t bring both Hinrich and Gordon off the bench.

And Gordon is locked in for a starter for the rest of the year anyhow. They aren’t going to do anything that might anger him this year. They might start bringing him off the bench again once he’s under a long term contract.

Although they should probably just trade Deng, start Salmons, have a guy like Tim Thomas backup the small foraward position. And try to trade for Amare.

Just pay the man. (You don’t even have to pay him that much with the economy the way it is).

But if you are offering him basically the equivalent of the MLE like guys like Sam Smith are talking about offering him, you’re going to lose him to another team with the MLE.

Hopefully Missouri can make the Final Four and win it all.

But I have UConn beating Missouri next round in my bracket. I think Thabeet is too much for a team like Missouri without a legitimate big man.

But I’d love to see that Missouri/Kansas Final Four matchup. That would be sweet. Border War at the national level.

the 5th and 6th spots have the same record right now

There was an incident a few years ago. The Bulls were killing the Knicks, scrubs were playing out the clock, and the fans were screaming at them to score 100 points for free Big Macs. They took a ton of shots, Knicks took offense and they tried to fight some Bulls players.

Lets be greedy!

It isn’t our fault that the circus trip usually means the ends of our seasons are against easier teams. Take advantage of whatever you are given down the stretch. You’ve earned it somewhere along the way.

Getting to see this end of the Pistons feels really good right now.

If Garnett is out, we'll beat them.

We’ve played Orlando pretty tough over the past 2 years. Gordon’s had some big games where we came up short at the end (the infamous Howard stripping Gordon turnover). And of course the blowout earlier this year.

We’ll probably lose in 6. This seems like the post-dynasty magic number for a playoff series.

But we do have a lot of talent. Especially if Luol Deng navigates his head out of his ass by the the playoffs.

We definitely have the age advantage in that match up.

If they get worn out by playing a series with a bunch of young guys like we have we have a chance. Doubled if Garnett is hobbled for any of it.

Curry is in a worse situation

He seems to be a bad coach, but he also has a veteran team that has tuned out much better leaders. If Billups is still on the team, I think they’d still be in that 4-5 seed range. Stuckey didn’t pan out, and Iverson is not the impact player he once was. They both should be fired, though.

derrick's passes were unbelievable

that fastbreak no look pass, and that oop to TT were two of the best bulls highlights this year.

by Jaina on Mar 26, 2009 9:57 PM CDT reply actions

Derrick's line was super efficient.

9 points on 7 shots, 7 assists, 5 boards, and 0 turnovers in 30 minutes of playing time. That’s a damn fine game, especially because we didn’t need him to score.

Zero turnovers, though, with the way he was needling passes through the Heat defense? Crazy, crazy good.

by fundamentallysound on Mar 26, 2009 10:01 PM CDT reply actions

Making Rose's more impressive are two things. The limited minutes

and the slow pace of this one. Just 84 possessions in this one. That’s about 9 fewer possessions than the Bulls are usually working with, and Rose had about 8 minutes less than he’s usually got, and still handed out 7 assists for high percentage looks.

What a fantastic game. I can’t say enough about it.

Oh yeah, and his wrist was injured. Man, oh man. What a game.

yeah, he was quiet

but he was on the floor leading the team when they ripped off the 15-0 run, including that sweet oop to tyrus.

well played game even though he didn’t have his usual flashy scoring plays (though he did have some flashy passes including that one).

Tyrus Thomas had himself a ball game, just like last game.

15 points on 11 shots, 13 boards (5 offensive!), 1 steal, 3 blocked shots, and just 2 turnovers in 38 minutes. Great, great work for Tyrus.

I like that he has matured

There are some instances where he’d force it or force a pass or jump shot. Here he was really level headed and if he didn’t see anything he’d kick it out.
