Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

I think KC is trying to say that Derrick is coming off the bench for strategic reasons rather than health concerns. I hope I'm wrong. I don't have an issue with a couple of games just to let him rest up, but if this is some type of new wrinkle for Vinny, I'm scared.

Oh man, let's hope Tue night wasn't the opening VDN's been waiting all season for

otoh

it sounds like del negro wasn’t convinced he was that healthy.

also it says tyrus is questionable, as well as tim?? if we got neither thomas… we’d have no power forwards… i mean sure noah can play there… but that’s killer. even more salmons at the 4. :P

Just heard on the radio (WMVP) that Tyrus is a game time decision due to a neck injury

Nevermind, KC had that too
Also, Tim Thomas (back) and Tyrus Thomas (neck) are gametime decisions for the Bulls.

Neck injury?

Quit falling asleep on the couch Tyrus…

Vinny's going to give Tyrus a 'playful' massage

so it knocks Tyrus out tonight and then Tim Thomas can start down the stretch.

Hinrich usually does a good job against Wade.

For tonight Hinrich starting is a good idea. My regular starting line preference is to start Rose and Hinrich and have BG come off the bench. Hinrich is the better defender and BG is best coming off the bench shooting and BG should play the last quarter. Rose and BG should finish games.

Didn't VDN

put Salmons on Wade last time? Was that bc of the height of Salmons or more bc Kirk was hursing that quad still?

I thought

Kirk was out completely the last game…..

Or maybe he was trying to play and could only go for like 10 limpy-gimpy minutes….

by majoyenrac on Mar 26, 2009 1:27 PM CDT up reply actions

he played a few

limpy gimpy minutes…it was funny actually.

I dont know if i like the idea of kirk starting over derrick, i just hope kirk doesnt get that whole “looking over your shoulder” kind of mentality today thinking that if he screws up then his time on the court will be cut…cuz u know…then he will screw up…

On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!

This is what VDN's been wanting to do all along...

…he just never had the chance to. Rose’s injury provided the perfect circumstance.

If Rose is really injured or not injured, what difference will his starting vs. coming off the bench make? It’s a wrist injury…it’s not like he lost his conditioning and needs to work his way back into shape.

I hate Vinny.

his job's on the line

it’s really not, but he likely thinks it is. Or future jobs. Or something. Kurt’s a professional.

Is Vinny still using Kurt?

Cause one of the papers I think Mike McGraw …. quoted Vinny talking about kirk the other night and they used “Kirk” in Vinnys quote.

or are the papers still correcting it for him?

who was the final starter announced with Rose out last game?

I would guess that it was Cap'n Kirk

Stats with contextual observations, good. Stats with no context, bad. Anecdotal observations unsupported by data, the worst.

by fundamentallysound on Mar 26, 2009 1:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Sigh

Time will tell if all you who think this is permanent are correct. I think it more likely that Vinny isn’t sure Derrick will be able to go, and may want to keep his minutes down with the wrist still bothering him.

I’d like to personally thank Vinny, however, for managing to kill whatever positive public sentiment Kirk had going with this move….

that's what it sounded like to me too

seemed like vinny wasn’t as sure as derrick about his readiness.

by Jaina on Mar 26, 2009 2:23 PM CDT up reply actions

that's what it probably is

Vinny should be more direct though. This team is so afraid to say their players are good and have jobs. I’m guessing it hurts contract negotiations :)

I think you are

correct and knowing how much Derreck wants to play I would hate for him to further injure himself. Hopefully he will be ok tonight.

Vinny is very lucky that Derrick Rose is a nice, humble kid

If Rose can play, he should start. can play the same amount of minutes

coming off the bench, and you can still limit Rose’s minutes if necessary. This is just VDN being VDN, and creating a situation where none existed before.

If the starters are healthy enough to play, than they are healthy enough to start. Sigh. VDN is a fool. Anytime you begin to have any confidence in him, he takes it away.

by Basketball Smurf on Mar 26, 2009 3:19 PM CDT reply actions

Seriously

Its not like he was out a while and has to get reintegrated. He missed one freakin game.

by JeffD on Mar 26, 2009 3:28 PM CDT up reply actions

Well the pundits already wanted Rose to play SG

Now they’ll want him as the 6th man.

Confusion breeds success. If they don't know each other, opponents can't have strategy. GENIUS.
