I would expect this season to play out like 2005-06 when the Bulls took advantage of an easy schedule to finish with a 12-2 surge. They reached .500 and took eventual champ Miami to six games in the playoffs.
Mike McGraw breaks down what this week will look like for the Bulls. These next few games will go a long way in determining playoff position as well as whether we even get in at all.

2-2
I predict that they win tonight and tomorrow but lose against Miami and the Pacers. It’s just that kind of season.

I would've thought the exact same thing about a week ago
but unfortunately I have let my guard down once again and am primed to get screwed by this team one more time. I guess I just think they’ve finally turned the corner. And given the fact that three of the four games are at home, and the only one on the road is against the Wiz (yes, I do remember the Obama game and it still hurts) I think we should easily come out of this stretch at least 3-1. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say that deep down I’m thinking 4-0 is a real possibility. Go ahead Vinny, kick me in the nuts, I know it’s coming…

C'mon guys, they've pretty much become an home & away team at this point.
I’d take their record to be however many home/away games they have left. Maybe they lose to a good team at home but beat a bad team on the road, but there seems to be some serious psychological factors going on here.
Viva la nuance! Reading comprehension rules!!!

Exactly, but I just gotta believe they can handle Washington this time around
I’m pretty sure Butler isn’t even playing in this game. I have totally come to grips with the fact that this team blows hard on the road. I’m ready to lose the next three road games handily, but we just have to beat this team tonight, right?

If I remember correctly (without google),
they didn’t make .500…lost the last game to the Nets (?). when we lost that game , I knew we wouldn’t go far in the playoffs
..on 2/18/09, Noc was gone..and on the next day, Larry "The Chucker" was just a bad dream...

I think you're conflating 05-06 and 06-07.
06-07 we were basically tied with the Cavs for second in the central (Pistons were first). If we would have won against the Nets, we would have surpassed the Cavs and secured the second seed in the playoffs (I think), having a much easier road. As it was, we were knocked down to fifth seed despite having the third-best record. Per Hollinger’s number crunching (if I remember it correctly), losing that one game cut our odds of making the East Conference Finals from like 70-something percent to 20-something percent. (On that same day, the Knicks won their last game, dropping our draft pick from the sixth spot — or somewhere near there — down to ninth. It was quite a stomach punch day.)
In 05-06 we did indeed finish 41-41. Our last game that year was against the Raptors.

McGraw's first mistake was beginning the sentence this way:
I would expect this season…
What I’ve come to learn from this team is to have absolutely no expectations, because if you expect them to lose and get killed, they’ll compete and make you feel dumb.
If you expect them to win and roll over teams they are clearly better than, they will get crushed in front of the President.
So, I really have no expectations for how this season will end, with one minor exception, we’ll be better at home than on the road.

now you've done it.
we’re doomed.
Asked what kind of player he expects to be in the next five years, he said: "Not a star, but like, a superstar. Something around, like, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, something like that."

Man we can do this, Salmons' been playing great lately, and the team as well,
the team just needs to D up. Offense is not a problem, just being disciplined and avoiding turnovers is all they need to do, to be 4-0. We can beat these 3 teams.
