Coach Vinny Del Negro spent several years in the Phoenix front office before taking the job in Chicago. He knows Amare and might be steering GM John Paxson away from acquiring him.

That is pure speculation by the reporter...

which says more about Amar’e’s rep to those in the know than anything.

Exactly pure speculation

That trade works for me…..even if sadly Tyrus would be gone.

But maybe there are many hand holding things with Amare…..we’ll see it might be nice to have VDN in your corner here for once…

That trade is ridiculous if true.

That Stein has proposed. If Paxson can pull that off, he just might be able to merge the old core into a championship team. Not trading for Gasol will pay off if this happens. We will instead of having Gasol, have Rose + Amare. That’d be a big win for the Bulls.

In addition, we can trade Hughes at the deadline next year to get a short term solution at center to make a run at the championship next season.

Hopefully this is an exciting deadline for the Bulls. Every other team is afraid to spend…while Reinsdorf is usually conservative, we’re probably the one team that won’t be in too much of bad financial shape…and Amare would probably help start a new sell out streak.

As strange as it sounds...

If I’m Phoenix, I ask Miami for the Beasley and Marion package… and I’m pretty happy. I got what I wanted in a big expiring deal, and a young player with a ton of potential.

If I’m Miami, I make that trade in a heartbeat and I’m thrilled. Beasley at his best would be very similar to Amare, but he would be developing as Wade declines. And Marion isn’t in the future plans, so I don’t mind trading him away at all.

Let’s just hope Kerr would rather deal with us. It’s always been reported that the Suns have liked Tyrus and Thabo. Hopefully, they still do. A lot.

I think Phx

is done with the Matrix regardless of his expiring status.

Vinny "might be steering GM John Paxson away from acquiring Amare"?

Why god dammit, why? If he screws this up, he needs to go now… Fuck him!

by bull83 on Feb 7, 2009 7:19 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

That's possible.

Alternatively, VDN could be telling Pax “get this guy, he’s what we need.” This was purely speculative.

I think the Bulls need a guy like Amare. A player who wants to be the alpha-dog. Eventually, this will be Derrick’s team – no doubt about it. But recall that the presence of Shaq helped Wade become a star, just as Boozer helped D. Williams and West helped CP3.

There are numerous risks. Always are. But at some point you have to go all in.

Shake loose Bosh

With Amare in play, Colangelo needs to think if his best deal for Bosh is also walking out the door….if Bulls could leverage these talks into shaking loose Bosh, even including Deng in THAT deal (not Amare deal), that would be interesting…Paxson has to be a player though to to pull that off, which he’s NOT…..

by RichKarp on Feb 7, 2009 9:27 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, I'd rather have Bosh, but I think you have to go for it with Amar'e...

as long as we keep Deng (and obviously Rose). Then we’re in position to resign Amar’e if we likey, or not resign him if we don’t like him and pursue Bosh in FA, or trade Amar’e for Bosh next year. Any way you slice it, you gotta got for it now.

Bosh isn't available...

He doesn’t expire till 2010, so even if he has told the Raptors that he isn’t going to sign a Raptors extension, they would still keep him for this year. They would rather take the extra year of having one of the best players in the NBA of their team. Not only is that the best basketball decision, it’s also the best business decision, for ticket sales, jersey sales, and the respect of the fanbase.

Bosh isn’t a malcontent and he isn’t a quitter, if they trade him, it will be at the deadline next year. They have no reason not to keep him for as long as they can. They would be lambasted if they sent one of the NBA’s brightest stars packing a year and a half before he was a free agent.

Why dont you re-read my comment.

I know Bosh isn’t a FA until 2010. That’s why I said “next year”. And the comment about trading Amar’e for Bosh if Amar’e didn’t work out implied next year as well obviously. And the one about resigning Amar’e if we like him, yep that was about next year too obviously since his opt out isn’t until… wait for it…. NEXT YEAR.

Wow.

Are you a little defensive?

I meant that as a reply to RichKarp. I hit the wrong reply button. Settle Down. I agree with you.

I apologize that my misplaced comment got your panties in a bunch.

sorry about that

That came off as being an ass and I just meant to simply be sarcastic. It seemed like you were going off on a rant without comprehending what I was saying. My bad.
