Around SBN: Tiger Woods, Tony Romo Grouped Together At Pebble Beach

What would it take to land Paul Milsap, David Lee or both?

Both are having breakout seasons and both are unrestricted FA's this summer. Both of their respective teams would have a difficult time resigning them for more than a mid level exception. In Lee's case, the Knicks are way over the cap and would have to scrap the idea of luring two elite FAs in 2010.  In Millsap's situation, if Carlos Boozer exercises his player option (as well he should, considering his string of nagging injuries), he'll likely only get an offer at best slightly above the mid level. Both these guys are double double 4's. They both "go after it. Does anybody think that either Millsap or Lee wouldn't be able to run a pick and roll with Rose? Does anybody think the Knicks are going placed with a tandem of Duhon and Lee?

So they're not all stars (yet), but an $7-8 million contract would be a steal. Would the Bulls be better off (especially defensively) with Stoudamire or Bosh? For the same money, we could pay two guys. Barring someone trading Dwight Howard, how else is Pax going to fill that gaping hole in the paint?

I wouldn't mind seeing Bosch in a Bulls uniform

I think the Bulls need a definite right now. No more project players or consistency issues. Been there, been doing that since 1999

Press the trade button. At this point no one will be missed!

I thought Lee and Millsap were both restricted free agents after this year?

I’m almost positive Lee is, not sure about Millsap. Anyway, these two guys are the exact type of mediocre, soon to be overpaid player that we need to steer clear of. The way this team gets to the next level is by finding another superstar to pair with Rose, and neither of these guys are gonna be that.

Positive

that Milsap is RFA. You’re right, the way these guys are gotten is with the outlandish contract offer. Makes it tough, but I wouldn’t call them mediocre. (If they ever slacked on the work ethic, even slightly, they would be though.)

Point made.

i'd also prefer to get a true big man

than another short PF.

Gotta love

Lee and Milsap, though. Talk about draft steals- any team coulda had ’em!

If UT, I’d choose to keep Milsap over Boozer. He just has that rrrrrrrrr something. And hasn’t had Boozer’s injuries and resultant career inconsistencies (yet? Both are over-achiever types). Milsap’s gonna be a better defender.

If NY, I play my best poker game and hope the economy “helps”. They shouldn’t have paid Du so much, LOL!

Bosh is a decent 20 and 8'er

but superstars…exactly how many of those does this league have?
I count:
D Howard
LeBron
Kobe
Wade
Chris Paul
Maybe Carmelo

If Chris Bosh is a superstar than Dirk is a superstar, and Dirk ain’t no such thang…

Nash wins two MVPs...is Nash a superstar?

Answer: not anymore, his windo has closed. Still a productive point guard, but so is Jkidd and John Stocketon was at the end of his career, but good PG = superstar. Plus any 7 footer that can’t rebound by getting position = not a superstar

stacey

referred to david west as a superstar during the game tonight… wtf???

He was certainly treated like one by the refs.

Tyrus stopped him cold – twice on blocks – and he got two phantom calls from the refs. I’m sick and tired of these guys (refs) with their reputation and “respect” calls.

my thoughts

Milsap Scenario:

Boozer doesn’t opt out and no one offers a good trade. Milsap is offered an outrageous contract by the Bulls and Utah doesn’t match. Or Utah matches and years later we get him through trade. But Milsap is not going anywhere.

Lee Scenario:

Offer to take Eddy Curry and or Jerome James along with Lee and offer Hughes, Gooden, and whatever filler needed to make the salary work.

If the Bulls are pulled into submission

of parting ways with Hughes, Hinrich, and hell, maybe even Nocioni to get just one of them, then I’m willing to see this trade happen.

I just hope they don’t take Gray as well.

We could technically do noah for Milsap almost straight up...

off memory I believe. too lazy to double check shamsports but I think Noah makes 2.3 and Milsap makes 800K.

So you throw in Brevan Knight (2 million)…we throw back Lindsey Hunter (700K) so they are not without back up PG.

2.8 incoming
3.0 outgoing.

Utah does it to get a very good young 7 footer that is really coming along right now…which is only part of the problem. thier biggest problem is retaining Okur and Boozer. This trade also helps with that….if Boozer walks you play Noah at PF.

Bulls do it to get out from Hunter’s contract. I kid. Obviously they get that long coveted post player/rebounder/and pretty darn good post defender in the making but kind of already there so to speak.

makes a lot of sense for both teams as some team under the cap is going to make Urah really overpay for Milsap this summer…and Boozer is as good as gone to Miami anyway. So they get Noah on the cheap rookie deal and can easily retain Okur.

Bulls match any offer sheet this summer on milsap like they did with Noc and duhon a few years back…cross fingers no one offers more than a starting deal at 8 million.

this would (sadly) signal the end of the tyrus era opr you start to play him where he wants to be anyway-SF.
