The Magic need a point guard. Jameer is probably out for the year and they aren't going to be winning anything with Anthony Johnson at the point. Here is what I propose:
The Magic look like this right away:
They lose a lot of depth at 4/5. They really don't have a backup 3 either. It makes them pretty thin, but a better team.
Their salary for next year would be: 67.5 mil, so a little bit of space and they don't lose anyone for a long time. When Nelson comes back they have a solid 3 guard rotation and Pietrus can play some 3. Noc can play some 4. It is that same core for the next 3-4 years. Intriguing?
This trade would give the Bulls this lineup for the rest of the year:
Next year it would be:
Deng/Hedo (player option)
Thomas/Cook (player option)
They would need to sign a backup PG and a real big man for next year.
2009 salaries (assuming they sign Gordon to Deng money): 54.5 mil
2010 salaries (same assumption): 40 mil
This is really a glorified salary dump, but it keeps the good core of the Bulls together and gives them a direction. They have a ton of cap space for 2010 and have enough to work with for next year to resign Gordon and possible get a big man. They will still have Larry and Thabo to move next year if they want to as well. What do you think?
