Around SBN: News And Other Updates Leading Up To Pats-Giants

Lets actually do something about it...

I tried writing this after the game but found myself cursing almost every word. Lets be honest, something has to be done about our coaching situation.  This is not just another rant about how angry I am, and trust me I am extremely pissed off, but an idea of what we can do to maybe speed up the inevitability of VDN getting canned.

Star-divide

After the game tonight against the Washington Wizards I finally past the point of wanting to yell/throw things/break stuff etc... and just sat on my couch staring in disarray at my t.v. trying to figure out how the Bulls just lost to the WORST team in the Eastern Conference by 23 points.

After finally logging on, and reading some comments yall have made, I realize that you guys are extremely pissed off just as I am.  Well I am saying, enough is F'ing enough, we come on here complaining about the Bulls problems and what they should do to fix them but nothing is ever going to get done.  The comment/s that gets posted the most by a wide margin are "The Bulls need to fire VDN/We need to get rid of VDN/Only if we had a decent coach/VDN is the worst coach in the league/VDN is screwing up this team."  So I know I am not alone when I say this but VDN NEEDS TO GO!!!  I've been on the side saying "we should give him a chance he got put in a tough situation for a rookie coach" but that whole putting Thabo in for Rose against Miami did it for me.  I mean WTF, VDN puts in Thabo(6min, 0pts, 0ast, 0reb 0stl, 0blk) instead of our best player D-Rose to throw in the ball only to have it stolen by Wade.  Why is Rose always on the bench in the 4th qtr!?!?  Why does VDN always kill the momentum either by taking out players when they are starting to find their rhythm or by calling a time out when the Bulls go on a run?!?

Well I am saying NO MORE... and so should you if you truly are a Bulls fan.  We should stop watching games until something is done, and actually write emails to the Bulls so they know about it.  Why should we have pay for tickets/league pass/cable whatever it is you pay for to watch your favorite team lose because the coach has no idea what is going on?  The situation is just ridiculous now,  and I am not going to waste my time watching their games just to get pissed off at the end of a game because the coach doesn't know his head from his @ss when it comes to coaching.  I know he did a great job with the Suns working in-house and I would love for him to be the Bulls assistant GM(former position with Suns) but he is not head coach material.

Well I'm not sure about everyone else, but the line has been crossed for me.  I will be writing an email to the team stating how I feel and and to let them know I will no longer be watching games as long as VDN is still the head coach.  Trust me, you don't have to post comments like "they aren't gonna give a sh*t if you don't watch the games" or any sort of similar comment because I know they won't, I'm not an idiot; but if enough people do this it will have more of an impact than simply blogging about how angry we are.

Here is a site that will help us get the attention of The Bulls if enough people send them a message: Its the radio station that covers The Chicago Bulls

We need to get rid of the complete coaching staff

The problem we have with so few games left is if we fire VDN now we get one of the two ineffective elders. I want all three to go and a coach that knows what he is doing. This means waiting 7 weeks. My impression is that VDN’s body language and watching VDN with Paxson as they announced the trades is that VDN knows he is going to be fired. Deng is killing us doing nothing. We have to wait 5 years after this season before we rid ourselves of his contract. VDN and the two ineffective elders haven’t figured out how to help Rose defending the high pick and roll. We are the softest team in the NBA. This team seems like a total mess. Kendell Gill after last night’s game thought Rose is getting frustrated by being killed in the pick-n-roll. This team, from top to bottom, has no heart. Losing last night was beyond pathetic. No guts and no heart – the Chicago Bulls!

Paxson and all of his favor contracts out the door? Huh!

Noc is already gone..
Wallace if he can be included is gone ..
Hughes by way of Wallace …
        Kirk on his way.. hopefully
Deng… who will take the 72 million dollar man off our hands ?

man up!

That would be a way to save face on all sides, if it happened in the off-season.

I know he did a great job with the Suns working in-house and I would love for him to be the Bulls assistant GM(former position with Suns) but he is not head coach material.

Maybe we can (but probably not)?

What playoff seed did we expect at the beginning of this year? A #7, right?

And that’s likely where we’ll end up. Had we one yesterday (and I realized we didn’t), we would’ve been tied for the 8th spot. It’s not like all hell broke loose, it’s one game.

VDN sucks, but he’s also coaching for the first time. I’m alright with giving him the rest of the season to prove himself instead of cutting him and the entire coaching staff loose over a bad five game stretch.

VDN + no heart + lack of chemistry = losing basketball

Yes we can win shooting 56% jump shots but this team lacks chemistry and is poorly coached. I thought the Bulls came out too hyped up last night. The President and the deaths did distract them. I remember Phil Jackson always cautioning the Bulls about being too up for some games. Being too up can take you out of the game. That’s what I thought happened last night. VDN, when asked about if the team was distracted totally dismissed the theory. I really do not think he knows what he is doing. He does have strengths in that he hasn’t lost the team and the players seem to like him. My guess is that he is a really nice man. He just cannot coach at this level. I just think we are better off waiting until the end of the season before dismissing the three blind mice.

i guess the problem is it isnt a five game stretch.

People look prior to the gooden injury— the team looked bad and disorganized. after the injuries vnd’s options were limited, and the team looked to be playing pretty well. arguably, when his options were limided even more right after the trade, the team played some of its best basketball all season. now he has options, lots of them, and the team looks bad. barring a freak spate of injuries, he will continue to have his options; and history suggests vdn cant handle that.

I didn't expect any playoffs this year.

Indiana, Toronto, Bucks, Sixers, Hawks, Detorit, Magic, Cavs, Celtics. That is what I expected., some combo of that Now Toronto has obviously fallen off, and Indiana and the Bucks have been rocked by injuries. And still the Bulls are fighting for the playoffs. VDN is a horrible coach. But that is not his fault. He needed some more experience on the bench before being given a head coaching gig. As I said before, this hire was basically telling Bulls’ fans. “We don’t expect to contend for a championship in the next two years. So we’re going to hire someone cheap. If he works out, great. We are genius. If not, we’ll find someone good in 2010 when we can hopefully get a big time FA to pair with our #1 pick.”

The good fight

I hate quite a few of his coaching decisions this year, but I’m not sure that canning him right now is the answer.

That being said, it’s nice to see someone actually try to organize a concerted effort whereby fans can vent their frustrations.

Hmm… CR@bulls.com, you say… ?

well

from the looks of it, most of the blame should be thrown at the coach. but being a rookie coach and note, he wasn’t that great of a basketball player back in his days and he never had any coaching experience whatsoever, we all knew this would happen..

i’m not really into firing him but if that’s what’s gonna help the team then so be it. he relies so much on what he knows and he only knows so little…does he listen to his assistant coaches? if he listens, so is it the coaching staff’s fault?

by Aiafati on Feb 28, 2009 4:07 PM CST reply actions

I voted for "fire VDN now'

but there needed to be a 5th choice: fire VDN after the last game in April. (I say April because we won’t make the playoffs-goodby $10 million Jerry) We need to wait because a lot of assistant coaches won’t be available until after their seasons end.

I still haven’t given up on Brian Shaw and the Triangle, especially now that VDN is tanking.

Well if you just get rid of Vinny

Paxson is still here! The cycle repeats…. He created an environment of teammate dissension with his favortism outwardly expressed in words and deeds over these years.

We need a real change of culture. Major overhaul at he top. We are just plain comfortable with losing. We as fans, GM, Coach even applaud our favor player when he individually plays decent or well in a particular game, but the Bulls lose the game. The players, mgmt and some fans! Everybody is into individualism.

Bulls don’t even know what the concept of help defense or team defense is?

man up!

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Pax, Vinny and his assistants read Blogabull.

Otherwise, there could be no other logical explanation for the choice “Vinny is doing a fine job” option receiving 4 votes.

If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.
