RIP Johnny

This is sad but at the same time I’m happy that we got to pay tribute to Red before his passing and he got to be there. Also he was suffering so may he be at peace.

I don't believe this :(

First was Norm, now "Red" Kerr… Sad, sad period to this organization. The team better win today so they can pay the tribute to these two great Bulls basketball players and, lately, huge fans. I don’t care what they have to do to get the win. Just win you dumb asses!!!

RIP Johnny

today?

and the next 10 games…seriously dedicate a playoff push to both those men! Vinny should coach the bulls the way those two would want the team coached (48 minutes of intensity and “take a look at the rim ben”) I mean also theres only 23 games left, 23!!!! as in the famous number that Johnny Red’s favorite player wore, that should mean something too…

There is no video tribute that could equal doing that. Those two guys loved the bull more than any tribute towards them, those two guys dreamed of watching this team win more than anything, and not just once or twice, but really establish respectability among the league. The bulls, if they wanna pay a real tribute, should just win from here on out….no hesitation….48 minutes of intensity!!!!

On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!

I agree with you, I honestly do

They should win and should play hard every single night. But since I know that they can’t do that, because of some decisions of our dumb coach, I’ll ask only for todays game. Then we’ll see what happens. Like someone once said:we can only ask Vinny for baby steps. Nothing more

R.I.P to both Bulls Legends. Heaven has 2 of the best now.

I would rather have the AI of 2k9 coach this team than VDN

Sad day

Now joke, I’m a Bulls fan and these two guys are some of the biggest Bulls fan.Stress watching the Bulls play this season could of very well played a small part. It’s sad, but they went out together. Rip

this was just unbelievable

two of the greatest in our long history…
it sucks that the last game they had to witness was the NJ one…
hopefully the bulls can somehow stay on the same page and give it all they have like these two legends.

What a horrible loss

Both will be dearly missed. I still get chills hearing Red’s call of “the shot” by Jordan. RIP

Man, I saw SO many games with Red Kerr as an announcer from 1990-1997.

He always seemed like such a likable person.

Just watched the Norm Van Lier video from the previous post.
He seems a hell of a lot more knowledgeable and entertaining than most of the dry, boring, stupid, or jiving people on sports TV today. Funny, he acts and talks like A REL HUMAN BEING speaking his mind.

Sad week. Also sad that the last full season they saw was last year’s pathetic season.

Still in shock

Damn. We’ve lost two greats. Red and Norm were both so passionate about Bulls basketball. Bulls broadcasts will never be the same. They will be missed.

They will be missed.

Man, they look badass on those pics.

Seriously...

Is that pic of Red Kerr from a game he was coaching? Smoking a cigar? Classic!

Celebration: Lebron inherited the pregame rosen ritual from Jordan

But Jordan inherited the celebration cigar from two of the great "Red"s of all time in Basketball..

1) Big Johnnie Red Kerr
2) Red Auerbach …

Auerbach passed away before Celtics return back to the glory during the 2008-09 season, probably similiarly couldn’t take much more of the Danny A. young inexperienced teams up until his death?

Now, as a similiar tribute, we need two key acquisitions to go along with our young stud (Rose). No need to delay, go for it know. Rent expensive players is the new NBA, you will not be liable for all of their expensive contract years, forget trying to match all young guys with young guys… Windows of opportunities are short, take advantage every opportunity you get… Jordan/Pip, Auerbach/Russell, Magic/Kareem type dynasties are far and few. Stop spending big bucks on these young unproven guys (..u know who?)

Match hungry veterans with young studs early in their careers to win championships, and the winning attitude will never depart from these young guys afterwards. Continued losing (season after season) isn’t good .. Example of young guys who won early with veterans and the fire never departs…. always trying to reach that Altitude again.. because nothhing else satisfies..
1) Sam Cassell (Rockets)
2) Tony Parker (Spurs)
3) Wade (Heat)
4) Rondo (Celtics)

5) Rose (Bulls) ..

Now back to the real case in point… Tribute to Red and Norm.. I would have loved to have witness Red either playing or coaching in his younger days. From all of his pictures, and short video clips he seems as if he would be ranked in the top 5 coolest Bulls of all time. ..

Two great guys(Norm & Red) I will celebrate for having the opportunity here in chicago to be blessed by their entertaining comments for the past xx years. I will remember and celebrate their lives because they were fortunate to have the opportunity to touch so many lives, including mine.

And thanks to this new generation (Matt, Sport2,and others) who took advance of technology to create these online communities which gives us the opportunity to express our respect, feelings and comradary…

man up!

How Bizarre.

Let’s raise whatever we have in front of us to Red and Stormin’ Norm. Stacy King better lock his doors and bolt his windows shut!

Anybody think they may now FINALLY retire Norm’s number 2 ?

Crazy how the 2 people who probably cared more for the Bulls than anyone else on the planet

Died within hours of each other. I grew up with Red and Norm, they were Chicago institutions.

The players have always come and gone, you can’t expect them to have a real connection with these guys. But, for us, they were in our homes all the time, living and dying with every game like all of the die hards.

Hopefully the Bulls organization handles the appreciation of both Kerr and (especially) Norm with class and dignity.

Confusion breeds success. If they don't know each other, opponents can't have strategy. GENIUS.

Yeah I kind of have the feeling that if they told Red that Norm died

that might of done it. I know he was already sick but I’m really convinced that if someone takes a hit emotionally that could be big.

But its odd theres nothing I can really say. Even the first time I started watching the Bulls it was like I knew these guys already or something. And I know that some people say things out of respect for people when they die but I would be amazed if there were even 2 people that wouldn’t of said the same things about them if they were still living.
