One of two players acquired by the Thunder at the trade deadline, Sefolosha split open the area around Watson's right eyebrow with an elbow as he drove to the basket during practice Monday. Watson had to leave the court and get three stitches before returning in a grey hooded sweatshirt and a bandage over his eyebrow.

Finally we ge to the truth!

That story Rose was peddling always seemed a little lame.
Thanks for the scoop.

Well that, or....

The injury is actually a paper cut he received while swimming in Luol Deng’s pool of money.

So can someone explain to me what we got for Thabo?

Like it says first round pick. But does that mean we could have the very first round pick in 09 for Thabo? What a steal.

What to do, with Larry Hughe?

by Rudey on Feb 24, 2009 10:52 AM CST reply actions

lower of the picks

they got from denver and san antonio.

Paxson said during the press conference the San Antonio pick.

And given his history of making trades involving pick options (probably the best pick option in NBA history), I think he would have mentioned the option between Denver/San Antonio if that were the case.

every other thing i've read

has listed the choice, even though many erroneously were listing phoenix’s (which they have in 2010) and not san antonio’s pick. this includes the thunder’s own blog, which doesn’t list a particular pick but lists that the bulls are getting the lowest of the three picks they own (which includes their own).

please, do you ever actually research before arguing with me?

Did you even read what I wrote?

I wrote that John Paxson said during the press conference that it will be the San Antonio pick.

yes

but he might not have been correct. he could easily be assuming that SA finishes with a better record than denver, which would give us their pick.

He could've been

but I’m going to believe him until he says something different. I have to agree with Andrew and the way he said it he was pretty convincing. In the press conference he said it was confusing and a mess but it will be SA pick.

well, i have to admit i didn't see the press conference

so i can’t say whether he was “convincing” or not. but considering every outlet i read, including the opposing team’s official website (and you’d think they would know as well as paxson), declared it was the lesser of two picks, that’s what i tend to believe.

Here is a link to a transcript of the conference

The Bulls will receive San Antonio’s pick in the trade with the Thunder.

i'm not saying i don't believe that pax said it

i’m just saying every other outlet, including the official thunder website, says otherwise – and while “paxson should know”, so should the thunder.

It's okay

I’m just providing the transcript in case you wanted to see read it. I actually listened to it live and that is what he said. I can’t convince you to believe him ;)

haha

well i mean it’s tough. sam smith says in his blog on bulls.com it’s the lesser of the two picks. so did the thunder website. a few other places i read corroborated with that. even more some said “a first round draft pick” but didn’t actually specify anything. thus i have no reason to believe 1 person who said this vs many. :)

They needed defense but OC gm isn't nuts.

The Bulls get the pick they got from the Spurs. Not such a steal, but at least the Bulls reduce some of the glut.

Well

It’s salary cap room either way, and given that Thabo really isn’t necessary with Salmons on board, it’s a good trade all in all.

Those late first round picks can be good.

Can either get a foreign guy that we like, or some nice solid college guys fall into the 20’s.

Rudy Fernandez, Rajon Rondo, Nate Robinson, David Lee, Jameer Nelson, Kevin Martin, Boris Diaw, Kendrick Perkins, Josh Howard were all taken in the 20’s during Paxson’s tenure as GM.

Thabo got Noah in the eye earlier in the season.

They really should be teaching his teammates Stooge defense moves for when playing near him.

SA pick

Can we let them draft for us? lol they’re one of the best when it comes to drafting that late. If i remember it corectly, they drafted TP, manu, barbosa, scola, salmons, udrih. Their rookie this yr, hill, is ok too.

by trig on Feb 25, 2009 7:41 AM CST reply actions

haha

that would be a great idea.
