Official Paxson Press Conference Post

Star-divide

I'm not sure if Matt is planning on making an official press conference post, but if so, I'll delete this one. Just wanted to make one so we'll have some place to post our thoughts on what he says. The other threads seem to be filling up quick.

Darn 75 word limit...uhhh....blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

He's always been a Cubs fan though

I can’t imagine why.

No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....

I am the stone that builder refused..I am the visual...The inspiration..That made lady sing the blues....I'm the spark that makes your idea bright.....The same spark that lights the dark....So that you can know your left from your right...I am the ballot in your box....The bullet in your gun...The inner glow that lets you know...To call your brother son....The story that just begun...The promise of what's to come...And I'm 'a remain a soldier till the war is won....

It's cuz he grew up in Kendalville iN

I’m really playing with regards to why he’s a Cubs fan. Being from Western Indiana, it’s kinda obvious.

as a free agent back when no one respectable would come close. I think he genuinelly likes Chicago as a city.

Seeing as how they tried to move Kirk before the deadline

and have talked about upping his “value,” I’d feel pretty good if I were a Ben Gordon lover that the team will try to make it work.

And loves Salmons’ defense

KC asked him a question

and Pax answered “it’s a san antonio pick, so that caused us quite a bit of headache.”

by smash! on Feb 19, 2009 6:25 PM CST up reply actions

I second that.

I’m really lost by this statement. Did we pick up a San Antonio pick somewhere. What does he mean by headaches?

by #23 on Feb 19, 2009 7:19 PM CST up reply actions

OK, I finally found out what this meant

It has to do with the Thabo deal.

OKC owns 3 first round picks in the ’09 draft. One is their own, one is from the Nuggets (Johan Petro trade), and one is from the Spurs (Kurt Thomas deal). The Bulls will get the least favorable of the Denver & SA picks.

Maybe those trades saved his job

"He's not scared to take that shot," Rose said. "That's Larry. No matter what, I don't need to remind him to shoot. He's willing to shoot any time."

by Evil Pax on Feb 19, 2009 6:25 PM CST up reply actions

There are times when Paxson speaks and makes me think he totally gets it.

It’s those times that make me want to blame JR for most of the stupid shit. The moves combined with what he said made this one of the times where Paxson seemed to get.

by Scotter on Feb 19, 2009 6:29 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

He sounded like a genuinely smart basketball guy. Too bad JR is such meddling annoyance.

So, the best part was that he basically said that they know they can make more trades to set them up...

even better for FAs in 2010, BUT since FAs can sign better contracts with the team’s they’re on, they usually don’t switch teams. SO, he then (in not so many words) went into how keeping pieces allows them to be in a position to make a trade for a star come next year at this time. Hello TT+Hinrich+Expiring contracts for Chris Bosh:)

by smash! on Feb 19, 2009 6:29 PM CST reply actions

Or Gordon, or Deng.

As much as I sometimes like Gordon, I’m going to maintain my largest reason for “pay[ing] the man his money” is that he won’t be grossly overpaid in 2010 even at $10-$12 million (especially on a 5-year deal having three years left at that point), and throwing in a Tyrus Thomas or Joakim Noah and a draft pick (or 3 or 4) would be a great place to start in a sign-and-trade for Bosh, Wade, etc.

They didn’t post it on Bulls.com.

I don’t want to listen to the Score’s podcast if they have it up, because they were interrupting it a bunch as usual.

Thanks.

I’ll have a transcript up on my site tomorrow sometime for future reference. Probably before the game, but maybe late at night too.

Would do it tonight, but I have an exam I need to study for, and don’t want to stay up until 4, because I have to give plasma tomorrow too.
