Ben Gordon on re-signing with the Bulls
There are some NBA officials who insist you won’t be re-signing with the Bulls. Agree or disagree?
BG: I really don’t know right now if I’ll be back. It’s up in the air.
Will money be the biggest factor in your decision?
BG: I think money will be a big factor for the Bulls. I think that was the problem in the past, agreeing on money.

I don't care if Ben Gordon leaves
what will bother me is if we can’t trade him by today (I know it’s close to impossible), sign him then trade him later, or work out a sign and trade this summer. They can’t let a draft pick walk away for nothing.
Hopefully the economy helps us get BG for a good price, maybe the MLE.

It looks like that is exactly what is going to happen. Ben was very smart in what he did.....
veto any mid season trade and leave the in the summer and they get nothing in return. He gave Bulls Management a big middle finger. The majority of the people on this site are clinging to Ben returning next year, but all of them are going to be disappointed. Ben has already decided to bounce.
The Bulls were wise to get Salmons.

Ben has one huge problem - who is going to pay him an enormous contract?
In this economy everyone is trying to rid themselves of contracts, not sign big, new long-term deals. The Bulls may be able to get him cheaply because no one will be willing to fork-over the bank to him.

I think if Ben is going to go on the cheap.....he does it with another team.
He did not argue all of these seasons with the Bulls only for them to beat him. He will go somewhere else cheap first.

I actually think it's pretty much all about money for Ben. If we offer him the most money
I think he stays. I don’t think he left all that money on the table from us only to turn around and accept a lesser offer from another team.

i totally agree
but I don’t think we will offer him the most money. If we did, he would resign. but we won’t.

We can't get Gordon at the MLE
Because Cleveland, San Antonio, Lakers, Knicks, Hornets, etc. would welcome BG to their teams with open arms for the MLE.

BG has to hate his agent
with the economic downturn and the real possibility of a shrinking cap, BG may have gambled and loss. Unlike some people, i don’t have any animosity towards BG for not accepting the contract the Bulls offered. It just sucks for him that it may be the biggest offer he gets. I still hold out hope the Bulls will free some cap space (trade Hughes maybe) and resign BG if only for a short term contract.
