Resigning Sessions with Redd and Jefferson on the books is going to put them big in the luxury tax land. Not to mention re-signing Villanueava.

Chris Sheridan:

I have one very plugged-in source telling me that the Knicks still have a “slim but possible” chance of landing Larry Hughes, while another source was equally emphatic in saying he expects the Bulls to keep Hughes in mothballs now they they’ve dropped some $200,000 under the luxury tax threshold through the Brad Miller/John Salmons deal.

I’m told the Knicks would have been willing to give Chicago Jared Jeffries and Malik Rose for Hughes, but the Bulls would not do that now because they’d be taking on $13.7 million in salary and sending out only $12.8 million, putting them back in tax territory. Chicago also would go back into tax territory if it did the rumored Hughes deal with Washington for Etan Thomas and Mike James, so that one looks dead, too.

Looks like Hughes isn’t going anywhere.

I hope this isn't Kirk's swan song with the Bulls. I think he could be valuable in the playoffs with his defensive smarts and sometimes sold ofensive contributions.

The Bulls should wait to see what Ben Gordon is going to do before letting Kirk go. I don’t want to see Larry Hughes suit up again.

So let’s call a moratorium on the odes to Amare.

Aaron Gray played well (for him) tonight. Maybe he's hoping he can beat out Brad Miller for the backup center position.

He had 5 points, 7 boards, a steal and a block in less than 19 minutes with a +/- of 6.

Can the Bulls put enough together to make the playoffs and avoid the 8th spot? Their remaining schedule is much easier from here on in.

The Bulls front office

finally started breaking up the core that took them to the second round of the playoffs 2 years ago in trading noc away.

I think this was a very big step in moving forward. As much of a Noc’ fan that I’ve been, particularly noting his 22 PER in the playoffs a couple years back, he really became a big problem for this team since last year. undersized and slow, now that the league has caught up with the no flopping rules and less physical play, he has become an atrocious player for us. He might have worked out better if we had a proper center and/or power forward to work with, but our young bigs just can’t help him.

Now it seems that Pax has finally let go of his ego trip in having picked hinrich, gorden, deng and Noc. Yes it worked with the old rules, but the league and rules have changed since then. no more drive and kicks! no more flops. Brad Miller brings us an upgrade at the big rotation spot and alleviates the growing pains for our bigs. Just like gaining rose and losing Duhon was a big improvement at the guard rotation for this team, adding miller and losing undersized and slower Noc and no defense/injury ridden/no help inside offensively /taking away minutes from Tyrus Gooden, we have improved our inside game. Miller is an improvement at the Center position. We needed help there the most. I believe that giving him 20 – 26 minutes at the post in rotation with Noah makes us a better team. Add this slashing/defensive 2/3 guard and our roster just got deeper.

I now trust that Pax will move hinrich who has not worked out for this team in the last couple of years. he is the next weakest link of the original four in terms of consistency. add to that his also oversized contract and it makes the most sense to lose him in an effort to keep one of our best two new era players in BG.

BG has come across as a very frustrating player because of his inconsistency, yet in evaluating his abilities, it has been easy to neglect the leagues response to double and triple teaming our best guard prior to DRose’s arrival. He is not the first, second and maybe even not the third scoring option on a championship team, but he is a very valuable skilled player none the less. keeping him on this team is worth the effort. try stopping him coming off the bench when he goes up against the other teams bench.

I’ve read tonight that Bosch wants to come to Chicago in 2010. with our rapidly improving team and salary cap scenario, I just can’t see the bulls future not drastically improving.

Add to that two playoff runs for our young talented players to cut their teeth on and we could be looking at another dynasty in the making.

Curious thing...

Sac fans seem stoked to be getting Noce and a lot of them want him to start at SF.

Where do we see Salmons and Miller coming in?

I think MIller should come off the bench for a few games but should start in Noah’s place. Noah becomes the reserve guy for either Miller or TT.

Salmons, on the other hand…Im not so sure. He’s not good enough to supplant either DRose, BG or Captain Kirk so he might be stuck with coming off the bench behind Luol Deng AND Thabo Sefolosha.

Yeah, I said it. I still like Thabo more than Salmons. This will make Salmons very unhappy and we end up with (possibly) 2 Hughes?

i think we'll see

Gordon/Hinrich/Salmons
Deng/Salmons
