Around SBN: Seahawks Trade for TE Kellen Winslow

"The more I watch him play, the more I could see Detroit making a run at him this summer, and that's Ben Gordon of Chicago," Blakely said. "If you look at the guys Joe Dumars has brought to Detroit, they're in their mid-20s and they're in need of a new home. And they seem to thrive in Detroit."

Oh man, if Joe D steals Ben Gordon away, I will be SO pissed. That one will fall totally

and completely on JR and his no-tax mantra. Damn it.

If they hadn't re-upped Rip Hamilton, I could see it.

But how do they do it now?

Unless Dumars is a genius and just extended Hamilton to be able to trade him. Stuckey, Gordon, Prince, Maxiell, Johnson isn’t anything special, but that backcourt and Prince isn’t a bad start.

Pistons are rumored to have close to $20 mill in cap space this summer

So this is a real possibility. Gordon bolting for a division rival would seriously hurt.

They're gonna go after Boozer and Gordon.

Then trade either Stuckey or Hamilton.

I would guess Hamilton is the next one to get shipped out. Joe D is re-making that team on the fly.

I doubt they trade Stuckey

…that was the whole reason they traded Billups. But Hamilton is almost definitely gonna be out of there.

if they go after Boozer, I don't think they'll have the $ to go after BG7 realistically.

Boozer’s going to command the max.

No he's not.

He’s been injured all year. Heat and Thunder are out of the market now. Jazz don’t seem inclined to bring him back.

I think he will get a nice contract. Maybe starting at $11 million or so. But that still leaves the Pistons plenty of room to sign Gordon.

if he's not getting the max, then he won't be opting out. that would probably lead to

Millsap getting money thrown at him by the Pistons and having more room to sign Ben. This is bad. Very bad.

I'd still

be surprised if Boozer opts out because of the injuries…..

If he plays next year and is not hurt, he could command near the max, so why opt out for possibly a 5 yr $10-11M a year this season coming off of injury, when he can do the same after playing a healthy year and command a 5 yr $15M a year deal re-proving he is a near superstar when healthy.

I think the league’s been too wary as it is with the Arenas and Brand salaries…..and it’ll be worse this year than ever with the bad economy and more importantly the 2010 class approaching.

I think Boozer takes his option…..and stays with the Jazz.

If he plays and is hurt

He’ll still likely get a $10M/year deal…..given his age….as I didn’t think his injury was ever considered career threatening.

But if he plays a full healthy year again next year he could be one of the more elite players in the elite class.

I think it’s a better option for him to take the player’s option this year.

if he gets hurt and misses 1/2 the year again?

no way he’s getting $10 million over five years. Absolutely no way.

Microwave part deux

Joe probably remembers how important Vinnie the Microwave was and sees the same kind of player in Ben.

Funny thing about moving Hamilton to the bench

His minutes are up and his points are up.

I hope this happens.

That way Gordon can actually play AS A STARTER. OH MY GOD, THE WORLD IS GOING TO IMPLODE.
I’m sick of the Bulls. Starting to root for people to be traded away, and as long as they’re all traded to the same team I’ll be happy. Maye the Thunder want to trade Westbrook/Durant for Rose/Tyrus/Noah? :P

"You remember the first time you picked up a basketball video game and you had no idea how to run plays, so you just gave the ball to your shooter and you ran around the court aimlessly until a defender was far enough away and then you jacked up a shot? THAT IS LARRY HUGHES!"
