Well, not him, but "one person who does have a couple strong NBA connections":

don't be surprised if Amare Stoudemire heads to Toronto, Chris Bosh comes to the Bulls and a package featuring Drew Gooden and Tyrus Thomas heads to Phoenix.

No deal, mystery man: I will be surprised.

If ------ which is a big if, this could be real, I like this better than Amare.

I just do not understand why Phoenix would do this when Kerr and Gentry seem excited to play out the season with Stoudemire. I truly would pee in my pants if this were to happen. Too good to be true.

Of course this is better than Amare, Bosh would be a dream come true with our team...

and if the Amare trade never happens, and 365 days go by, and if Bosh hints to Toronto that he’s bolting for FA, well then the Bulls would try anything to trade for Bosh. But I cannot see this happening right now.

As someone pointed out in the Amare thread regarding this rumor,

Amare and Marion clashed for alpha dog status in Phoenix. What is so different about Toronto that would cause them to put their differences aside?

i like stat better than bosh. bosh is the 6"11 left handed tyrus thomas, all star yeah yeah, but we are in a conference that features Dwight and Lebron. Id rather have Amar’e the power forward of my All HYBRID TEAM, which by the way includes:

All HYBRID TEAM
C- Dwight Howard
PF- Amare Stoudemire
SF- Lebron James
SG- Dwayne Wade
PG- Derrick Rose

Having 2 out of the five is a good thing right?

Derrick Rose got Freakin Skillz. When are we going to add a 7th championship?

This is laughable, there's no way the Raps trade Bosh for Amare.

Bosh MIGHT leave Toronto, but there’s no frickin’ way Amare stays in Toronto beyond 2010. And Bosh is the better player for the next two years. This makes no sense, at all.

It was one of the Chicago writers.

And the newspaper was independent of the Suntimes.

i won’t divulge the beatwriters name, as he/she didn’t give me expressed permission to do so.

But I received the information over 2 hours before Roman’s blog post. It wasn’t a “Check this out, Bulls might be in a three way with Toronto and Phoenix type of information”. It was just a passing comment, after saying that Phoenix is asking for a lot for Amare, that the Bulls might look for better value alternatives like Chris Kaman, or that they might even make a run at Bosh.

I didn’t think anything of it at the time, thus why I didn’t update my blog until after Roman’s blog post. It didn’t seem like there was any potential trade for Bosh from what I was told. But it seems there is some smoke regarding Chris Bosh with the passing comment on it that I was given, and now the Roman blog post that talks about the potential three way.

I hope that’s enough transparency for you.

Bad news

ESPN is reporting Amare is not going to be moved.

There are suddenly strong signals emanating from the desert that the coaching change announced Monday by the Phoenix Suns will be the only big personnel change they make this week.

After the Suns spent several days taking and making phone calls on potential trades for Amare Stoudemire and Shaquille O’Neal, NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com that Phoenix — having received a series of underwhelming proposals for Stoudemire — prefers now to leave its core intact for the rest of the season to see if new coach Alvin Gentry can do more with this group than the outgoing Terry Porter.

“I got the impression today that [the Suns] are standing pat,” said one source with knowledge of the team’s thinking.

Said another source close to the situation: “That is very accurate.”

by chgobr on Feb 16, 2009 9:13 PM CST reply actions

Don't read too much into it.

They talked about how they weren’t firing Porter too.

It's true the offers are very underwhelming

They only reason I see to move Amare at this point is for pretty significant savings. I’ve laid out the finances of this several times, but it’s worth pointing out that the Bulls deal on the table really doesn’t do shit financially for the Suns.

If they could get a third team involved to get the Blazers under the tax (like throwing cash and/or a pick to Memphis, them maybe they could change the equation without altering the pieces they gave up.

by Sports2 on Feb 16, 2009 9:59 PM CST up reply actions

I noticed that too...

This lil nugget caught my eye as well:

Gar Forman, the Bulls’ director of player personnel who’s expected to become general manager once John Paxson gives up day-to-day duties, reportedly has taken the lead in the talks with the Suns.

That’s not huge in itself, but it actually makes me feel better that Forman is handling these talks instead of a beaten-down, tired, depressed, worn out, read-to-quit John Paxson.

exactly

someone PLEASE put this guy out of his misery. It would be a help to everyone involved (the org, the players, the staff, the fans, etc).

His current day-to-day duties probably consist of him crying in a corner somewhere, with JR patting him on the back saying “it’ll be ok”

Seriously though, if he’s not involved in the trade talks what is he doing? This is the time of the year (besides draft time) when he should be most active. Is he at home making cookies or something?

http://awsomepeoplesearch.com/

by NormVanBeer on Feb 17, 2009 10:28 AM CST up reply actions

Also Mike McGraw mentions this
BOSH JOINS TRADE TALK
One rumor that surfaced late Monday was a three-team deal where the Bulls get Chris Bosh, Stoudemire goes to Toronto and the Bulls send the Tyrus Thomas, Drew Gooden, Thabo Sefolosha, draft picks package to Phoenix. I looked into it and was told it’s a conceivable scenario, but is a long way from becoming reality.

The Bulls would most likely be willing to add more draft picks to get Bosh instead of Stoudemire, which would benefit the Suns. The biggest question here is whether Toronto is ready to move Bosh. Maybe not, since Stoudemire might be just as likely to bolt as a free agent in 2010 as Bosh would.

link

I mean fuck, I didn’t buy this one bit but from the looks of things, Phoenix just wants more draft picks from the Bulls.

The Bulls would be willing to give up more draft picks if it included Bosh.

Toronto could also save themselves some public relations misery if they got a star like Amare in return.

And don’t mention how Amare would not want to go to Toronto. He’s already mentioned that his agent nor Suns management are informing him of what’s going on.

In all reality, this makes a lot more sense than I had initially thought.

I think it makes a lot of sense but also doubt that something like this is more likely to go down either in the summer or next deadline.

by Option27 on Feb 17, 2009 1:19 AM CST reply actions

by Option27 on Feb 17, 2009 1:21 AM CST up reply actions

If the Suns are going to trade Amare, they'll want to do it now.

If they wait for the summer, they can’t get any contracts that expire this year, meaning they’d get no cap relief for next season. Since that’s one of the main reasons the trade is even alive, I would expect Amare to be traded by Thursday or not at all.

by arjoseph on Feb 17, 2009 9:27 AM CST up reply actions

Amare would get to pick the next Toronto coach

Chicago... Where giving up career nights happens

by Yibs on Feb 17, 2009 9:20 AM CST reply actions

Because we can give the Suns more cap relief.

Bosh and Amare basically make the same amount of money, so if the Suns wanted some expiring deals thrown in, they’d have to include Barbosa (getting the expiring deals of Parker and Graham back). Many stories have claimed that Barbosa is untouchable (I’m not sure why, but that’s the rumor). So a three-way with Chicago gives the Suns a combo of cap relief, young players, and draft picks that also allows them to keep everyone they like on their current roster.
