Suns likely to fire Porter on Monday(source)
Assuming if this goes down as it says it may throw a wrench in them trading Stoudemire.

Yahoo reports . . .
"We haven’t made a decision," Suns general manager Steve Kerr told The Associated Press Saturday night. "There are a lot of things we’re working on this weekend."
Kerr’s comments came in response to a report by The Arizona Republic that there were "strong indications" Porter would be fired on Monday.
Seems like everyone is jumping the gun with their stories, aye?

i would guess if they fire Porter
They’re keeping Amare. If they keep Porter, Amare suits up for the Bulls at the end of the week.(a guy can only hope).

heh
not exactly a “no, we’re not firing him” was it?
Damn, sucks to be Porter…

Yeah, that has to be among the least ringing endorsement I've ever heard.
At this point, seriously, how do you not fire him, though? The reports of his imminent departure are all over the place, and now you give him a total non-vote of confidence – how on earth could he effectively coach the remainder of the season, unless the other alternative is trading the whole frickin’ team?
Man-slave, bring me my PB&J!

You know why he's getting fired?
Because he was unable to make Steve Kerr look smart for trading Marion and running D’Antoni out of town.
Of course, none of us know what was said in the interviews, but if Porter didn’t go in there singing the praises of slowing things down and playing defense, I don’t see how he doesn’t get the job. Now maybe he really does believe those things and maybe he is a shitty coach, but I can’t see how a GM could fire a guy for doing exactly what the GM with the crap pieces a GM gave him. Actually, I do. It’s because Kerr’s ego is bigger than we could all think.
Hell, Porter’s even getting a resurgence from Shaq and Grant Hill. He’s playing exactly the style Kerr wanted. I don’t like Steve Kerr the GM.

It sucks more
watching the Suns team play the game.
Seriously, anyone at BaB really has no beef if they think Vinny is horrible. There’s no comparison. Vinny has the Bulls playing fairly well and together, finally. Porter (and the players, true) took areas that needed improvement and made them worse, changed everything that was right to wrong.

im sorry
but at least porter knows that the star player should be on the court when the games on the line with 3 seconds to go and its a tie game

Agree - I believe VDN and his two lackies forgot that Rose was not on the floor.
Not having Rose on the floor with 4.7 seconds to go was totally unacceptable. Sam Smith put it this way -
My guess is he just forgot. Not a great excuse, especially with the veteran assistants there. I refuse to believe his explanation that Kirk was playing well.

Porter didn't know who to play when
when he coached the Bucks. Underutilzied some very productive players. Also, was a lousy coach period. Couldn’t come up with a play that worked coming out of time outs. He owes his first year’s coaching success to a healthy TJ Ford.

KC Reports . . .
Houston, dangling the expiring salary of Ron Artest, has entered the Amare Stoudemire sweepstakes

Unless they're getting rid of T-Mac in the process
That’s a horrible trade for Houston.

Anytime you can get rid of a head case like Artest
And get someone like Amare, how is that a bad trade?
They would also have to give up Scola, I’m assuming.

If I remember correctly . . . .
Stoudamire even said himself that he thinks it’s for financial reasons; the reason for trading him.
Firing Porter has nothing to do with them saving money.

I thnk Phoenix is so screwed up that they could easily change their mind.
They change coach, keep Amare and hope the changes impacts chemistry and the results. I am not impressed with Kerr’s logic nor his consistency in making decisions.

Here is the link to the Suns possibly not trading Amare after Porter is fired.
CBSSports reports
UPDATE: In fact, urgency within the organization to make a coaching change appears to have overshadowed efforts to make a major trade before Thursday’s deadline. According to a person with knowledge of the situation, Sarver leaned hard on Kerr to seriously consider moving to the bench, but Kerr managed to avert such an untenable situation. He wants to coach someday, but the Suns’ situation is too dysfunctional for learning on the job. With no ideal offer on the table for Stoudemire, Kerr now appears focused on making the right coaching decision, with Gentry the most sensible candidate — at least in the short term. The Suns may consider expanding their search for a long-term replacement if Porter is fired or reassigned.
The appeal of Gentry is two-fold — his experience and ties to the D’Antoni regime. His familiarity with the D’Antoni offensive system in which the Suns thrived would appeal to Steve Nash and Stoudemire, both of whom could be reinvigorated by the change.

at a certain point its just pointing out facts isnt it?
I mean would you rather have Robert Sarver than JR? If you consider it for more than 15 seconds(or would keep JR) I think its fair to point out their messed up :p

First Phoenix wants to get rid of the D'Antoni style and now they want to hire Genntry who they think is like D'Antoni.
Houston, Phoenix has a problem.

Gentry has had several coaching stints, though
I think by now he has his own personal opinion of how the team should play, and in MaCallum’s book he came across as one of those cliche “bust your ass” kind of coaches.
