The officials took away Gordon's 3. Why didn't they do the same thing when

Kidd got credit for a 3 at the end of the 4th quarter even though he clearly had a foot on the line? Or does it have to be the last shot?

If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.

it can be at any point in the ball game

the refs have to notice it though to review it

by lampnasty on Feb 10, 2009 9:22 PM CST up reply actions

It's only reviewable if it's a last second shot

But refs can make a change on a 3 being a 2 at any point.

Is that the case?

Bulls should be credited with the win then, or they should replay the end of that game.

The NBA reviews those shots at any point in the game. They’ve been correcting three point/two point mistakes all season long, no matter what point in the game it was.

What was MJ wearing??

What did Michael think this was, a golf event?
I can’t believe he wore jeans to the ceremony and the ugly jacket.
MJ, a guy who would wear three piece suits as a player, now dresses casually at inappropriate moments? What has happened to him? His speech was lackluster too. Scottie Pippen expressed some real gratitude.

I used to love MJ. That love is wearing away. He is becoming full of himself. Even during Scottie’s ceremony he made it about himself. It makes me sad.

by Looney_Bucky on Feb 10, 2009 9:25 PM CST reply actions

To interject a sour note,

MJ was much better as a basketball player than as a human being.

Maybe we can?

by Granny Waiters on Feb 10, 2009 9:27 PM CST up reply actions   2 recs

And maybe that's why no one should care what kind of human being he is

Barkely was right,

by Granny Waiters on Feb 10, 2009 9:29 PM CST up reply actions

MJ was a great human being as a player

Are you kidding me?!

MJ did so much good stuff as a player outside of the game of basketball. Yea he had some mishaps like everyone does. This guy was so emulated not only because he was so good but also because he was a great person.

by Looney_Bucky on Feb 10, 2009 9:29 PM CST up reply actions

Or, maybe you just shouldn't care what kind of person he is outside of basketball

He was obviously going to use his wealth and public stature for charity and goodwill, what pro athlete doesn’t?

by Ozzie Montana on Feb 10, 2009 9:30 PM CST up reply actions

What the heck is going on?

MJ made himself into a role model with his commercials and kid movie. He knew he was a role model and he did his best to impress people. That is why he always dressed up for even the smallest thing. Kids including me at the time adored him because of his play and his personality traits. The man was a fierce competitor with a big heart.

People who didn’t like basketball, loved MJ. He was and maybe still is the most popular basketball player in the world and even athlete. Go overseas and say I’m from Chicago, and people will say Michael Jordan.

Bulls fans should not forget everything Michael stood for.

by Looney_Bucky on Feb 10, 2009 9:34 PM CST up reply actions

Well, I, for one, hated MJ

But that happens when you root for another team.

But I don’t think dressing up and making money acting in movies and commercials counts as much as not being an ass.

Man-slave, bring me my PB&J!

But, in fairness Luol does have the richest contract in terms of dollars committed.

71 is more than 70 no matter how you look at it.

I think what Dils is saying is that Deng’s total contract is the richest in Bulls history. Jordan made 30 mil for the 96-97 season and about 33 mil for the 97-98 season.

True dat.

He’s gotta gain some muscle. But i’m right with you. As much as I’d love to see an offensive force like Stoudemire in the lineup, I can’t help but shake the feeling that something may be clicking with Thomas and his confidence level is rising.

by lexdiamonds0730 on Feb 10, 2009 10:16 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah, he really is forcing Pax to do some thinking.

I think had Tyrus been allowed to play without looking over his shoulder during the Skiles years then he may have reached another level by now. Confidence is EVERYTHING and if this kid all of a sudden feels like he’s the best forward on the team and that he can be a MAJOR factor most every night then he’s gonna be problems for people.

that would be so cool to kick their ass, make D-Wade seriously think of coming here in 2010. I really should have watched this one, sounds like a great one. I was checking the box score, saw them down 10 in the 4th, and thought “this is over.” Went to do some chores. I come back, and see they won! They finally found a way to pull out a close game. Im really happy we won and everything worked out

but I cant take vdn. Cant he draw up a last second play…we do that everytime. If that shot wasnt blocked, then there is no way to even get the ball to bg. At least put bg in the corner on the strong side so you can lure his defender and make ben an option. I would brag for calling the play, but EVERYONE (including detroit) knew it was coming.

by rosefromconcrete on Feb 10, 2009 10:34 PM CST reply actions

Tyrus was sensational on both ends in crunch time. Gordon and Rose put on an offensive show. Even Noce played a solid game. Deng was a no show again.

Noah gave 100% and played with great energy. TT and Noah are keepers. Screw Amare. Save the big bucks for a center.

Webber is wrong at least a third of the time though.

Even if Magic is a attention whore he deserves to be. Magic could be talking about Sesame street and people would be listening intently.

Webber seems to say things just to please people. Magic tell the truth and Gary is just obnoxious. If MJ thinks hes annoying then its written in stone.

by Camry on Feb 10, 2009 10:54 PM CST up reply actions

Eh, I disagree

I think Magic speaks only in sports cliches and was awful as an announcer during his NBC days. Gary is loud and contrived, but I like watching their show. And they aren’t paid to be right all the time, Webber is just saying what he feels.

I dunno if the occasional fan can out wit the guy then theres something wrong

You don’t have to be right but you need a good amount of back up from your points and be able to illustrate it well. That whole show also steals from TNT.
Then again when American Idol is the no.1 show on TV I shouldn’t be surprised that show gets ratings.

When has Magic ever said something from a bias perspective though. Not sure about the cliches.
But I thought both of them were pretty unprofessional a couple of weeks ago. You could tell they were seriously bitter about all star selections and Gary lashed out at Kenny. If Kenny wasn’t classy it could of been bad.

by Camry on Feb 10, 2009 11:01 PM CST up reply actions

Good point, but I saw a lot more of Tyrus Thomas absolutely shredding Rasheed and Dyess through the late 3rd and early 4th, and a complete inability to neutralize Joakim Noah. You potato, I say po-ta-to.

That’s why Dyess and Sheed no longer work together. They are simply not athletic enough anymore.

This team is ripping my heart out, spitting in the bloody cavity left behind, then taking my still beating heart, passing it to Amir on a fast break, where he runs over a defender and gets a charging foul. Then, my heart is tossed to the ref, who discovers that it is not inflated properly. He pumps it up. I watch in absolutely indescribable pain. Then, the other team gets to shoot a free throw, cuz the Pistons are in the penalty. And the other team’s player misses, and Sheed yells, "Heart don’t lie!" Then I die.

Both are Extra Awesome.

If we aren't careful, the leanness we now feel will be the starvation of those we serve.

Tyrus and Noah dominated the boards. Noah showed what a great on-ball defender he is by playing

tough tough D on Sheed down the stretch. Derrick had a very good game, but got popped in the face at the end of the game by McDyess’s shoulder. Noc wasn’t a complete apocalypse because he shot very well. Kirk shot 40% and probably played a few too many minutes, and oh yeah, Ben Gordon hit a 4-point play to take the lead / win the game on the Bulls second to last possession.

Although they generally played as well as they have these last few weeks,

a combination of poor rebounding (some on bad DET shot caroms), turnovers, and the game slowing/going one on one in the 3rd Q found them trailing by 15 or so. But they had a confident comeback around Tyrus, Noah and Rose. And Ben got what was pretty much the game winner, spotting up for a corner 3 (and one!).

I guess it’s best not to mess….. with the Bulls on Johnny “Red” Kerr Night!

larry has that system down to a science. Especially with the way the economy is….big wigs like larry coming in dressed in their mink coats and 24k gold cigarrete holders with pockets lined with coke make for a large draw during shift changes.

frankly

it’s a good problem to have. Stat is a beast, but in the end, I don’t think it’s all that likely we’ll get him. Pax is cautious; we all know it. So – from my powerless fan’s perspective – this is just terrific. Maybe I get stat. If not, T2 is still playing awesome.

Win win.

I know Amare is an All-star and I wouldn't mind seeing him here. But at some point TT's play on offense and defense

has to start counting for something. He’s 22 and one of the best shot blockers in the NBA. I keep him over getting Amare

by Dils on Feb 10, 2009 11:02 PM CST up reply actions

It is VERY difficult to win a championship without a LOW POST player combined

with a good guard.

We have the Guard in Derrick Rose. We cannot throw the ball to Tyrus inside nor can we throw it to Noah, but we could throw it to Amare.

Hell even Eddy Curry commanded a double team in the POST. This is what we need.

I love Tyrus game, but he is not going to get us closer to a championship.

Nothing wrong with crying though (if he was) he is hardly 2 years removed from highschool…if even. I remember seeing him in Simeon. Hes come a long way so people like Payton can run with it for however long. But Rose has come a long way and his character is strong so they’d be hard pressed to find something to actually make fun of him about.

Tyrus has really improved starting this january

He’s more focus and makes good off ball movement and screens. Out of those 5TO he had today, 2-3 of them are easily avoidable by just slowing down a bit and giving the ball to the guards.

Rose is really good. But he needs to improve in getting contacts and getting to the line. and need to stay in front of his man.

Noce, wow this is probably his best game this season. He actually made positive stuff w/o messing it up in the end.

Noah – Mr energy is back. Please stay in shape and do this for the whole season. We cant wait for allstar break b4 you show up next season

2 fouls in the 1st quarter so he sat for a while

He was on the bench a good portion of both the 2nd and 3rd for no real reason. If he plays his usual minutes he probably has 30 points, they were giving him so much space to operate.

Derrick Rose ran in to an Antonio McDyess screen and had to be assisted to the locker-room for observation after sustaining what appeared to be a blow to the head. Hopefully a rest will help.
