Vinny may be out of here...Rose is upset and some players blaming the "scheme" as a problem.
Courtesy of Steve Kyler of Hoopsworld.
The Bulls clearly looked like a team that does not trust one another, with a lot of selfish play and bad shot selection.
Head coach Vinny Del Negro was asked earlier today if he was concerned about his job security, if the team continues to play as poorly as they did tonight, there should be little doubt – Vinny Del Negro should be the next coach fired in the NBA.
Here are some notes from post-game:
- Bulls' coach Vinny Del Negro refused to say his team didn't trust each other, but did concede that guys were trying to do too much when the team gets down and that doesn't always help the cause.
- Bulls' guard Derrick Rose was noticeable upset with how things are going this season saying he felt a few guys were giving full effort, but that some of the others were not and that until the entire team gives full effort on defense, things won't change. "This game is all mental," explained Rose. "Either you want it or you don't. The score tonight speaks for itself. We have to find ways to win. A loss like this really hurts."
- Bulls' forward Joakim Noah also had few answers for what's been going on saying if his team was losing close games that would be one thing, but getting blown out as frequently as his team is, is disconcerting, mainly because there was so much optimism coming into the season.
- The running joke after the game was that Bulls' head coach Vinny Del Negro had 8 hours remaining on his tenure as Bulls coach. Several Bulls' players agreed with the notion that Chicago's biggest problem might be scheme – which is coaching.
Here is a link for the full article Hawks run the Bulls out of town.
The above says it all. This is not going to get better as long as Vinny is the coach. Rose now is beginning to question the effort of some on the team speaks volumes because Rose generally does not like to step on toes. Players agreeing that the biggest problem might be "scheme" is a nail in the coffin.

I care about other players other than those two.
In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).
Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.
I care about Krandle really believe we'll get a "competent coach"
how long has it been since Phil Jackson?, and if Skiles was considered competent.. he no longer wanted anything to do with this organization.
Why do you have confidence believing this will happen or maybe well get another Bill Cartwright?
Deeper problems than getting a coach?

We need a scorer...
Here’s the play:
Nix VDN
Summer 2010 if we still suck, try to pick up a decent draft pick (Kentucky’s John Wall looks pretty good — what would Wall and Rose look like in a back court tandem?)
and/or 2010 an sign restricted FA like CDR (NJN) or Anthony Morrow (GSW) to an offer sheet. We need a perimeter scorer, the Fish ain’t gettin it done.
Summer 2011 make a play for Durant, preferably a sign and trade.
Yea.... well this depends on us getting the 1st pick in the draft.....
because Wall is going 1st, second pick doesn’t even help us.

Then it goes something like this....
2011-2012 Bulls:
Coach= Avery Johnson
PG Rose/Wall/ Hinrich?
SG Wall/ CDR or Anthony Morrow ( I like Morrow better in this role)
SF Durant/Johnson
PF Thomas?/Gibson
C Noah/Asik?/Miller?
Wall????
I gotta say, some of these bulls fans come up with the most off the wall shit i have ever seen

This current debacle really started when Jerry Reinsdorf messed up the Mike D’Antoni hiring. Paxson had interviewed him and a deal was all set until JR heard the price tag that was associated with Mike D. He decided then that HE wanted to interview D’Antoni — what kind of owner meddles in his GM’s affairs like that? After D’Antoni had been run out of Phoenix because of “defensive philosophy isses” the last thing he wanted to hear harped on was “defensive philosophy” in an interview (and JR knew that, which is why it’s all he talked about during his meeting with Mike) and subsequently Mike D’Antoni stormed out of the room in the middle of the interview.
JR got what he wanted (a cheaper coach in VDN) and the Bulls were screwed. Imagine how many points per game BG would’ve averaged last season in the seven seconds or less offense. BG easily would’ve put up about 25 ppg! That would have increased his trade value, and made our team more competitive. We could have signed him to an extension and then used him in a sign-and-trade with Deng for a player like Bosh. Then we’d still have Miller, Gray, Pargo, Hunter, Tyrus, Jerome James and Salmons coming off the books in the summer of 2010 to go sign Wade. Imagine a team with Rose, Wade, James Johnson, Bosh and Noah in the starting line up with Hinrich coming in as the 6th man and Gibson being the second man off the bench. We would’ve been instant contenders. Instead, we’re going to stumble through a 30 win season and end up messing up the draft like usual (Tyrus over LaMarcus Aldridge AND Brandon Roy!? Are you kidding me?!), Salmons won’t opt out because of his bad play and we’re going to end up with only about 11 million of cap space (which is enough to maybe sign David Lee). I hope Bulls fans are ready for another decade of mediocrity or worse…
And remember, while we feel pain — JR is rolling in money. I’ll even give you proof:
If you look at that, the Bulls are second in the NBA in operating income at 51 million — only the Lakers are ahead of them (and the Lakers are only at 51.1 mil, so it’s really, really close) but the Lakers payroll is consistently 10-15 million higher than ours (even in their bad years — you have to pay to be a contender before you can actually BE a contender — saying that he’ll only pay the tax when the Bulls are ready to contend is just another one of JR’s lies). Why does our owner consistently give us the middle finger?
Check this out:
http://www.forbes.com/lists/2005/32/321267.html
The last sentence under the heading “The Skinny” states, “low payrolls have allowed the Bulls to be the NBA’s most profitable franchise over the past five years.” This article was printed in 2004, does anyone remember what the years 1999-2004 were like? TERRIBLE. We were easily the laughingstock of the league — Dickey Simpkins was our leading scorer one year! Ugh. All the while JR was lining his pockets with incredibly low payrolls while we sat with our hands in our pockets crying as we watched our team get murdered night after night.
STOP SUPPORTING THIS TEAM. DO NOT BUY TICKETS, DO NOT BUY MERCHANDISE. We are like battered wives, and we need to stand up for ourselves.

that's what I posted in the comments of Sam Smith's Bulls blog as well as on Bulls By The Horns..
I feel like the people on BaB are the only ones that realize Reinsdorf is the problem.. So I feel the need to communicate that with the rest of Bulls fans that might not know about this site. There are a lot of passionate Bulls fans that get all their news from Comcast or Bulls.com (both owned fully or in part by Reinsdorf himself) so they don’t get the real story.
I’ve been posting stuff like this all week on various Bulls blogs and sites in hopes that eventually the rest of Bulls fans will be as upset as we are on this site — maybe they’ll stop supporting the team too. That’s the only way we can any sort of message across to Reinsdorf. We’re in the same situation as Blackhawks fans were before old man Wirtz passed away.

i tried, i posted a whole spot dedicated to making bulls fans understand that we need to hit it em where it hurts
but like everything else, it seems to have fallen on deaf ears. I agree 100% with you. A ban of this team is just what the doctor ordered. We have to stop making this org a well paid, over inflated revenue machine that doesnt care about the very fans who make it that way. Unfortunately (like YFBB will have you believe) that he and thousands of other bulls “fans” are white collar workers, and choose to spend their money frivelously…while the majority of bulls fans are hard working, and can do without all the merchandise, and UC appreances. BAN THIS TEAM NOW!!!! STOP SPENDING MONEY FOR A TEAM WHO CAN CARE LESS ABOUT YOU

bulls suck, talk all you guys want, conjure up all the best trades you can think of
they wont happen, know why? the team sucks, from the ground up, from the guy that mops up the sweat, to the owner, the team sucks. No trades will happen, no real coach will be hired. What makes this org any more special than the clips, or memph, or NJ where they are constanlty the bottom feeders? Nothing, we as fans just have to grasp the notion that we are going to be a shitty team for a long long time.

So true, so true
…unfortunately, management’s goal is to field a team just good enough to justify your hopeful support for revenues sake.
Hiring first-time GMs and coaches are definitely not the moves that an owner intent on winning a championship makes.
Our only good fortune was due to being lucky enough to draft a basketball supernova – Jordan – who insisted that we surround him with championship talent from top to bottom.
Bottom line…no supernova, no motivation, no title contention. Suck it up fans. All else is window dressing for point #1 above.
The heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing.
Blaise Pascal, Bulls Fan
So many problems
VDN definetly has to go. This team needs healthy guys as well as a coach that can actually coach. I know a lot of guys aren’t big fans of him here, but anyone check the boxscores for Skiles and the Bucks lately. Last night they kept the Raptors under 100, and had balanced scoring from almost everyone that played. Jennings is probably the only one above average on that team, maybe Bogut too. But we have Derrick and Noah for those two. But he’s got guys like Delfino, Mbah a Moute, Illyasova, Ukic playing at high levels. Or even the Kings with the return of Westphal look so much better than they did last year with whoever their coach was then. It sucks that our management don’t see any faults in the countless mistakes that they have made.
I'm cuckoo for Kukoc!!!
Reinsdorf is the representative of a group of owners that want to make money.
There might not be any fixing this ship.

There's not
we should all just support the Nuggets or some other team.

The Nuggets traded Marcus Camby
for a second round pick…to avoid the tax last season.
Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and LLE will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.
They did it to cut salary
but I’m pretty sure they still ended up paying the tax… Either way, they’ve proven in the past they’re willing to spend — and for the most part they spend wisely. They’ve been competitive for a good 5 years straight now, right?
I mainly mentioned them because I love watching the Nuggets play ball. They’re the team I root for the most besides the Bulls.

Right, the difference being that they're still really, really, really good.
And they paid the Luxury Tax the previous year even though they weren’t as good. I think most people that are upset about not going into the tax for Ben Gordon would have been okay if he didn’t go into it next year since it would have been really really hard to accomplish.
In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).
