Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

Following a 20-second timeout in which the play was designed to go to Derrick Rose, John Salmons instead missed a three-pointer from the top of the key.

Del Negro offered a technical reason why his best player's identity once again was blurred beyond recognition, why a player with 27 points on 13-of-23 shooting, never saw the ball.

"They overplayed and we did not set very good screens," Del Negro said. "Derrick was unable to get open and we went to John Salmons on the high screen. He did not attack on that and pulled back for the jumper. We have to look at the film."

The film will not be kind.

Fuck Salmons

If I think of nothing, am I thinking?

You gotta be kidding

After Salmons received the ball, Derrick was WIDE open on his right, waiting for the ball to drive for the tie..

Every morning i wake up hoping i’ll see some article saying “Vinny Del Negro joins the list of fired NBA coaches this season”… pleaaaase!

by simonswiss on Dec 9, 2009 1:03 AM CST reply actions

well, on that case i am also willing to see

Salmons get thrown back in the river.. fuck this..

Yuppers

Rose got himself open on the wing and the whole right side of the floor looked clear…Salmons can go right along with VDN

they were still only down one at that point

NO NEED FOR A THREE!!

"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"

love it
Del Negro said it is simply a process.

salmons should be benched

its inexcusable. 14 seconds to get the ball into the hands of your best player. kobe fought off 2 heat defenders to get the ball and took a wild shot with 3 seconds in the game the other night. but ya know what, you would rather have a bad shot by your best player than a bad shot by a bad player.

Maybe salmons will be the sixth man tonight

With the rumor of Kurt possibly being available to play tonight. That would send a message — maybe necessary - since it appears that Salmons ignored Vinny’s play (it seemed that Rose was intended to have the last shot – or decision against the Nets).

All your base are belong to Vinny.

i was trying to figure out where the play went wrong -

with vinny or with salmons, and well, i have my answer.

"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"

That was all on Salmons

I don’t blame VDN at all. His quote was just him being professional and not saying Salmons is a selfish craphead.

If this was Gordon the local media would be all over him, yet somehow Fish gets a pass and VDN will get the blame when I highly doubt Vinny said anything but get Derrick the ball.

I agree with this

Salmons just made a bad decision and missed the play. It happens.

The fact this happens is more evidence for why Salmons shouldn’t be in that position, but I don’t think there’s any tactical lessons to be learned.

by Sports2 on Dec 9, 2009 8:44 AM CST up reply actions

I completely agree

It’s no his fault Salmons jacked up an ill-advised trey. As much as I hate VDN, this game isn’t his fault. We just aren’t good and the injuries aren’t making things easier.

Out coaching VDN, so easy a cave man could do it.

Rose was open with 7 seconds left.

Salmons should be benched for this.

BUT, who the hell do we have to play 2? Shit, he’s not even a 2! If Kirk was healthy, he probably would have been in the game over Salmons, but seriously, who are we supposed to start at 2 over Fish? Pargo? HUNTER? This is why I’m sick of the Fire VDN chants. He’ll lose his job soon enough, but there are bigger, executive fish to fry first. If we had a real roster, we’d be winning a lot more games… I don’t think Vinny is holding us back. While he may not be winning us games with his late game strategy, or brilliant offensive play calling, he’s not losing us these games. OUR ROSTER IS LOSING GAMES.
