More proof we're in NBA limbo without a clear way out....
Bill Simmons writes 10,000 words (or whatever) about NBA trading season delineating the buyers (Boston, Dallas, Cleveland, Miami, Houston, Portland and the Lakers) and three groups of desperate sellers and the Bulls are not mentioned once *in any of the groups*.
In that many words, the combination of the letters b*u*l*l*s should appear at least once at random, at a minimum ; >
The thread today on BaB on the Bull's split personality roster explains where we're at, and Paxson and Forman's sheer incompetence is all you need to know as to why Simmons doesn't even bother pondering how we'll find a way out.

The club is banking sweet cash
Why would they change anything?
If the team is good they make more money. If the team is terrible they still make money.
12/31: Fire Vinny Del Negro.
(1) They can't add payroll this year, else they go into the luxury tax
(2) They can’t add payroll for next year, else they won’t have the money for a max FA.
Not so easy to be a buyer given those stipulations.
this will make me angry at points
but I cannot look away :)

im guessing he doesnt want to talk about the bulls
because he would have to eat a sizable chunk of humble pie after typing this nonsense this summer about the bulls offseason:
bq. Jannero Pargo, one year, terms not disclosed (Chicago): A poor man’s Ben Gordon who catches fire off the bench every so often. Please, Chicago, don’t do anything else! You had a nice run this past spring and created an identity for yourself, and you have Luol Deng coming back to take Gordon’s minutes. Let this thing breathe. Let the kids run around and do their thing. You have plenty of time.

Oh dear....
Of course, his next article will talk about how Rose isn’t a top-tier star (already said he doesn’t have the personality for it). Of course, this is the same guy who seriously believes he can be a NBA GM, and completely whiffed on the two biggest studs from this year’s draft.
The 2009 White Sox....like a 40 degree day.

This article doesn't bother me
He’s basically saying there are some franchises that will be in dire straits and they will need to sell off talent to remain financially viable. That the Bulls are not listed is a good thing.
If he's going to go through wacky Chris Paul scenarios
I don’t see how the Bulls can trump every offer with their expirings + Rose.

well he bases the whole essay on the argument that profitable contenders will be the ones willing to take on payroll
which is why pretty much every scenario involves Miami, Boston, Cleveland, LA, etc.
Bill Simmons is a complete idiot.
And the fact that he wears the “common sense” everyman mantle with such pride is pretty gross.
