Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Wouldn't it be cool if the Bulls used their vast wealth to improve the roster... nah.

With the Bulls expiring contracts they should try to get a good player on a salary dump. They should, but they won't.

They couldn't do that kind of salary dump because they weren't under the cap

Since this comes straight off the luxury tax for the Jazz, it will save them something like $14M this year. That’s a freaking lot.

i'm not saying the Bulls should have done this deal

and I understand they could not do it… But this franchise does have a ton of expiring contracts and there will be several teams looking to dump salary. If someone good comes along – will the Bulls do what it takes to grab them?

by Basketball Smurf on Dec 22, 2009 9:19 PM CST up reply actions

Wait does this now make it more possible for us to get

Boozer and Korver for Tyrus thomas and salmons, hell maybe we keep tyrus and give them taj instead (cuz they have so much extra cash)….

On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!

interesting thought

Hollinger says if the Jazz can trade Boozer and Korver for non-guaranteed deals, they could get fully under the luxury tax.

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/11675/implications-of-maynor-deal-far-reaching

The Bulls would probably need to get involved in a 3 team deal to have any chance of grabbing Boozer – but of course, they should try.

by Basketball Smurf on Dec 23, 2009 2:09 AM CST up reply actions

They would probably have to send salmons elsewhere...then

how abou this

three team with the clippers

Bulls Trade: Salmons (la) Tyrus (la) Pargo (utah)
Clippers trade Camby (utah)
Utah Trades Boozer(chi) Korver (chi)

Trade works on espn trade machine, and i think you could use trade exceptions to cushion the blow if needed….but i forget the rule on that …

WHy the teams do it:

Bulls do it for obvious reasons, of course this also implies that the bulls (barring another trade) are running out with Hinrich at sg, and korver backing him up….so we might even be at a great loss in terms of sg depth….

Utah does it for salary relief, the bulls might have to throw in their pick for this year, which i dont know what to think of, since this draft seems kinda nice…. Utah gets camby to replace boozer, which isnt too bad, and probably our pick, they get jannero (holding laughter in) to replace korver…jannero can also play some point (hahah…sorry)

Clippers do it and get some relief in terms of sg/sf swingman, plus they do a pretty good upgrade by getting tyrus over camby, and of course they dont have to keep tyrus and salmons is still considered to opt out next year….

On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!

by piccolomair on Dec 23, 2009 1:12 PM CST up reply actions

but they may be willing to take back salary for Boozer now.

Before they were trying to trade him for non-guaranteed deals. Now if they got a piece back in return, maybe they would be open to dealing Boozer who they know they won’t retain.

by Basketball Smurf on Dec 23, 2009 1:51 PM CST up reply actions

maybe something like this could work

Bulls trade: Tyrus, John Salmons, Jerome James to Indiana
Pacers trade: Troy Murphy, Roy Hibbert, Travis Diener to Utah; Brandon Rush to Chicago
Utah trades: Boozer and Korver to Chicago.

Utah gets a back up point guard to replace the one they lost, another physical shooting big man in Murphy, and a center prospect in Hibbert.

The Bulls get much needed inside scoring from Boozer, some outside shooting from Korver and rid themselves of the chances of Salmons opting in.

Indiana gets much needed financial relief – getting out from under the contracts of Murphy, Diener, Rush and Hibbert and begins their season long tank towards John Wall.

The biggest sticking point may be Utah’s willingness to take on Murphy’s contract, but they could flip him to a contender (Spurs, Cavs) for expirings.

by piccolomair on Dec 23, 2009 3:45 PM CST up reply actions

No.

Well, I do believe that Brandon Rush is taller than Kirk.

I cannot, however, conceive of any situation where I would chose Rush to take the court instead of Kirk. Or Salmons. Maybe Pargo, but Rush is really, really terrible.

He’s stiff, he can’t shoot, he doesn’t seem to work particularly hard, and he plays with little to no confidence. The Pacers have given him a million opportunities and just don’t want to admit they flubbed the pick and he’s not very good.

by Sports2 on Dec 23, 2009 4:10 PM CST up reply actions

for the record

i think Brandon Rush sucks. I included him in the trade because I think Indiana would be happy not to pay him

by Basketball Smurf on Dec 23, 2009 4:18 PM CST up reply actions

Not just flubbed the pick....

…but fucking gave up Jarryd Bayless for him. Egads.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

Yeah. I'm being forced to conclude Bayless is pretty good

That’s a guy I was wrong about. Of course, I still think he’d be a terrible fit for the Bulls.

There ya go

Kareem Rush actually looked like a guy who can going to become good.

Yeah, that's one guy I was certainly wrong on.

So far anyway.

It sucks to let Tyrus go and see him blossom..

How many guys did the bulls let go like this..

Talking about the thunder, yes KD, RW & Jeff Green are a beast trio, but another important cornerstone of this franchise was the inclusion of Thabo… I know Thabo had his chance in the starting 5 and he stinked, but still.. Now he’s doing good in the starting 5 of a very decent squad!

Let’s fire VDN and start the new year of new hopes, even maybe with a coach that can teach Tyrus some ball IQ and set plays to connect Rose and TT’s athelticism.. Cause we’ve got a special combo here.. Don’t let TT go.

Thabo helps now.

Harden will overtake him as the starter before Thabo’s contract is over.

Thabo's stats don't reflect his game

He can have a 2pt, 3 rebound and 1 steal, 2 assist and 2 TO and still have had a good game because he’s pesting the player he’s assigned to. There should be a stat for “forcing your oponent to a crappy shot” or “shutting your payer down”, then thabo would stand out in the statistics..

Regardless, Thabo has a great ball IQ and team spirit, and he’d be a hella better fit in the team than fishy salmons is.. IMO

by simonswiss on Dec 26, 2009 1:41 AM CST up reply actions

However, despite my love for the bulls (why, oh why?),

i am so happy for thab that he’s not playing for chi but for OKC with a coach, teammates and a system that suit him..

Trading Injured players

I thought you couldn’t trade injured players. How are the Jazz trading Harpring?

12/31: Fire Vinny Del Negro.

by NBA Observer on Dec 23, 2009 7:45 AM CST reply actions

then jerome james

could never have been traded.

i think you can, if the team taking them is willing to waive the physical or whatever.

"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"

Just another example of foresight

and taking advantage of opportunities. Something GarPax don’t seem to know much about.
