Around SBN: Bracketology 2012: Duke Finally Steps Up To The No. 1 Line

A Complete Salary Dump (we should DO this!!!!)

I'll get right to the point. The Bulls trade Kirk HinrichJohn Salmons, Luol Deng to Houston for Tracy McGrady, Brian Cook and Luis Scola. We would match the salaries and they are all expiring contracts.$29,627,791 more in Cap space for 2010.  We could have some problems winning but it would put us in a better position to get max free agents.

Why Rockets do this? They get ridoff injury prone Tracy McGrady and get good talent back

Why Bulls do this? We get rid of overpaid players and get more money for 2010

The line up would look like this for the rest of the season.

PG: Derrick Rose / Lindsey Hunter

SG: Tracy McGrady / Jannero Pargo

SF: Tyrus Thomas / James Johnson

PF:  Luis Scola / Taj Gibson / Brian Cook

C: Joakim Noah / Brad Miller / Aaron Gray

We would need to sign another guard. This wouldn't make Reinsdorf spend that much money.

After the season is over we will have $54M+ in CAP and could sign 3 Max FA

2010 Roster

PG: Derrick Rose

SG: Joe Johnson

SF: LeBron James

PF: Chris Bosh

C: Joakim Noah

This post should be deleted for sheer craziness(and wrongness)!

How’d you come up with 54+million in cap space? That’s a higher figure than the actual salary cap for next year, which is projected to be around 50-53 million! Just keeping Derrick, Noah, Johnson and Gibson would cost us enough to shave the available cap space to ~40, giving us enough room for only two max guys.

Metal sharpens metal.

And this guy right here understands and knows what leadership is all about: The coach, the hall of famer......... Dick Butka! George Ryan

The Bulls shrink like a dick in cold water.

by dakoose on Dec 21, 2009 11:04 PM CST reply actions

Do the math

If you add the cap coming in from that trade and the cap that is expiring for next season you will get a large number

Your math is wrong.

Idiot

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

Deng has value

But Kirk? Have you been asleep the past 3 years?

This won't

happen the Rockets love Luis Scola

by QUINTEN DALEY on Dec 22, 2009 11:13 AM CST reply actions

Why would

houston wanna trade Tmac if his contract expires at the end of the year?

by Pax_4_Prez on Dec 22, 2009 1:29 PM CST reply actions

Why would they want Kirk when they have two good young PGs for cheap. Why would they want Salmons when they have two good SG prospects in Budinger and Taylor for cheap?

And the math is wrong anyway. Ppl are goin overboard with these trades, this isn’t NBA 2K10

by C Smoove on Dec 22, 2009 3:56 PM CST reply actions

You have a point!

Do you think Cleveland would have any interest in kirk

by Bully555242 on Dec 23, 2009 2:06 PM CST up reply actions

You know what the Rockets need?

Mediocre players with massive contracts, to replace the good players with small contracts that they have now.

Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!

Nice try

but this is probably the 10th T-mac trade post and by far the least likely. The Rockets don’t have Isiah Thomas as their GM so I don’t think they will take on Deng, Salmons and Hinrich.
